This has so much potential and much to be explored in a mini-series style! Not a bad movie by all means- a nice watch to pass the time imo

Wow it’s been quite the year following this drama this past year! It’s rare for me to get so hooked into reading all the theories, commentary and getting excited each week for new episodes. Despite a few missteps, the ending hit my emotions and I’m going to miss the thrill of it all. Thank you Penthouse crew & cast for their hard work! Gonna miss the experience of it all

this is the rare instance where I hope they go all out extra, classic k-drama style. and then subtly bring excellent storytelling in this remake too.

6 episodes?! hoping this will be a blessing and not a curse on the pace of storytelling- it's always hard to tell!

i’m still not sure if i will start to binge this now. It has high ratings but i’ve seen mixed reactions on…
Give it a go and see if you’re hooked 4-6 episodes in. If you like action-crime thriller esque dramas you might like it. Also I’d say it’s a solid Ji Sung drama- similar A+ vibes!

This could’ve been a masterpiece if the writers didn’t try so hard to pay homage to Batman/ The Dark Knight trilogy and paid more attention in crafting better characterisation. It wouldn’t have been as noticeable were it not for the fact they didn’t push the dystopia concept further (or even stretched the cheesy entertainment vibe)

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a thrilling plot & Ji Sung + Kim Min Jung are sensational! And there’s a divine OST! I also think the cast have done an overall fantastic job despite my complaints (and the fact Kim Jae Kyung and Park Gyu Young were criminally under-utilised which is odd considering our main leading bad FL is fantastically compelling)

this was an early 2000s romance drama wrapped up with instagram visuals to bait the viewers in. man I feel cheated

Great editing and article! Atm The Devil Judge OST is stuck in my head and I really like the soft sounds of Nevertheless. I couldn’t stop listening to Hotel Del Luna & Strong Woman Do Bong Soon before - Jung Eun-Jim’s You’re my Garden is lush! Oh and I can’t not mention Sondia- esp her track for My Mister!

I’m all for ‘realistic’ / toxic relationships being explored- rarely if at all done in dramas. The big issue I have with this show is the poor execution!

Amazing side characters are being dropped left, right & centre. We still don’t really know the leads & their stories. And halfway through it’s decided to fall back into cliche of characterisation which doesn’t fit because it started off to subvert the tropes. Even the actors seem to have given up as the leads are giving such bland performances.

Good points? I have to applaud their hilarious editing of Min Gwi lmao and I do think it’s a nice OST. Oh and Sol & Jiwan! Ugh I’m more invested in the characters that aren’t the leads basically haha

strong start and ticks all the boxes for a solid drama. the child actors were excellent and the setup was immaculate. it made you want to watch on to see how the leads would tackle the fallout of a tragic event. I rarely see it being explored- what about the killer's own family? are they to blame? interesting ideas to explore!

however I sensed a clash as the series headed into the second half. it wasn't sure whether it wanted to be a healing romantic drama or a crime thriller looking into the psychopath/ genetic concept. somehow they struggled to piece both sides together.

unsurprisingly the director went on to direct 'Mouse', which I throughly recommend if you're looking for an intense crime thriller that fully explores the psychopath ideas.

'Just Between Lovers' is an excellent healing melodrama that ticks the romance box. OR if you still want a healing watch but something bit more uplifting, I recommend 'Run On'.

everything about this is a masterpiece and i'm never going to emotionally recover from this series because it played like the most beautiful poem. I still feel the crushing emotional impact I got when I finished it!

this series resulted from a labour of love and embraced the historical tragedy of the uprising in its fullest. this is truly one in a million kind of series where storytelling and characters are at its finest.
