There are any romance tags and this drama was one of the few that I didn't expect any hint of romance
Im like you, I see no hints at all and im up to date watching this! There are so many comments about forced romance or implied feelings but I can’t see it. Hope someone can elaborate on what im not getting haha
Am I just oblivious or am I the only one who can’t see any romantic love line in this show at all? Maybe I’m just too focused on the adrenaline fuelled action scenes haha
What a heartbreaking finale and fantastic seeing it all come together in the end! Lots to think about how psychopaths/ murderers are created or born and the role society plays. Gonna miss the cast, the mind blowingly intricate script and directing of this series!
Interesting articke, I love how you’ve delved into a new layer of Sigma!
I think Sigma’s story also shows the consequences of a broken and individualistic society. We see him let down by organisations, people and systems that are meant to be in place to protect us. As a child, he is abused by his parents and his school is powerless in helping him from bullies. He has artistic talent but is never encouraged or has his potential grows.
When Sigma is running away from Tae-Sool, the police ignore his injuries and don’t bother to ask why he’s in such a state. They identify him quickly as a thief as he didn’t pay his taxi fare because of his previous crime record- I’m not justifying the malicious comments he wrote online because it can devastate someone’s life, rather I’m critical at how we can become judgemental quicker than being compassionate towards others.
Sigma can’t even fulfil his extreme choice of ending his life, ironically in the backdrop of a nuclear storm. No one came to find him or tell him what’s going on. It’s a reflection of how isolating some of us can feel. And for those who are marginalised in society whether it be by mental illness, criminal history or anything else that can cause ostracisation in society.
What’s interesting is we see Seo Hae’s dad play a part in stopping Sigma becoming Sigma by kindly offering a hand to help the distressed Sigma in the park. However it’s hinted that he still becomes a villain in the end- that’s out of our hands and it is still an element of choice in our actions. We also need to understand that the struggles people face can’t always be fixed overnight- yet one little kind act might be the small bit of hope for someone else.
Honestly it’s blowing my mind how incredible this script is. I love how it makes us ‘think’ we know the answers but we still end up guessing the truth. And then instead of giving us some wacky twist for the sake of thrills, it rewards us by confirming we guessed right!
I love how it doesn’t underestimate our intellect and wow it’s amazing seeing it all come together towards the grand finale.
I have difficulty to know why Yoo Jae Suk is the big winner. Is it related to TV news or others variety show ?Bravo…
Queen KSY! Well deserved win!
Honestly I’m with you about YJS. I get that he’s been the ‘nation’s MC’ for so long now, but he sweeps all the awards anyway? Could’ve gone to something else…
Her dramas are hit or miss- so often the audience is divided over her shows. Eg) strong woman is well lived as a classic but some thought it was a hot mess as the tone kept changing.
