it had potential in the initial episodes/ setup with the premise of how these leading ladies were going to tackle the 'dark' side of their marriages. then this series made one of the oddest decisions to go completely into flashback land in the latter half.

i'm not against the occasional flashback, but the stories of how the mistresses met the husbands was executed so badly that it left a bad taste. i wanted to get to know the FLs more, not how the husbands got away with it!

as a result it romanticised cheating and there was barely anything to be emotionally invested in. in fact it left the audience feeling cheated on and too alienated to come back to a second season.

I’m a sucker for ghost/ supernatural show and I’m liking this so far! Great setup of the mystery to keep me hooked and loving the main lead dynamic too.

It’s refreshing to also watch something more straightforward to balance the more intense crime shows airing atm

Watching this straight after mouse was a bad idea purely because of the brain power it’s needing lol.

What I cannot determine is how Yohan came to live with jieun and why Bareum and his aunt said that his parents…
I wonder if Choi Young Shin gave her an opportunity to switch children? Or let the boys be experimented on.

I’m suspicious at how jagged the editing has been in the latest episodes. Part of it is probably to reinforce BR as an unreliable narrator and I reckon some twist is coming to cement the true identities. Nothing is what it seems lol

I’m suspicious with how Choi Young Shin/ the political party casually let HSJ a freaking serial killer operate on BR’s brain. The fact she was glaring at BR at the station implied she definitely knew more and I’m inclined to think she’s been secretly experimenting / in cahoots with HSJ or DL in the past. The bill was never passed to abort babies with psychopathic genes but that wouldn’t stop her!

It wouldn’t surprise if we find out later she’s done something to all the 95/96 babies involved. It’s got to the point where I’ve theorised some switcheroo madness happened with Yo Han, Ba Reum and Shin because part of me would still love to see P.O. play a psychopath who’s been hiding in plain sight. Haha I know it’s not going to happen!

I have no doubt things will change lol but following from ep 13, here are some random thoughts/ theories:

- Yo Han may have been put through the same experiment that Daniel Lee is putting Ba Reum through. Hence why we see YH beating the crap out of BR as he was challenged to kill psychopathic predators.

- This means BR has been the serial killer from the start and is Jae Hoon the child we’ve seen in the past. Clues reinforcing this includes: HSJ noticing BR when he first arrives and how he never refers to YH as his son directly.

- It would lead to a tragic ending where Moo Chi realised he killed the innocent YH and has to kill his partner BR.

- If DL is “real” (honestly this show has got my questioning who’s even real let alone who’s actually alive lol) perhaps he is battling HSJ with their world views and ideas surrounding the psychopath genes.

- Unsure if they’re secretly working together due to their past where DL’s sister is killed. What if they’re both psychopaths? Takes one to know one...

- I’m hoping Bong Yi and Hong Joo’s relationship continues to develop and they solve this BR case together!

I found Ba Reum to be surprisingly sloppy as a psychopathic murderer in ep 12-13. Hard to think he’s the same killer in the first half (if we go by the theory BR has been the killer all along and not Yo Han). But then with the apple-pregnant lady case, Bong Yi mentions the first murder was messy.

I think the switch is narration is subtle going into the second half cause he is damn unreliable lol. Which might explain why we see him “genuinely emotional” towards people like Bong Yi. And it means he was good at pretending to be “normal” in the first half therefore honing in on the traits psychopaths have.

Yes. more people who like this genre should give this one a try.I am with you on 2nd point. Sci-fi stories are…
i had a feeling bing bing was his daughter before it was revealed- i would've had that revealed much earlier in the series to raise the stakes a bit more.

thank you for the recs! i've seen memories of alhambra and i enjoyed it. it's one of the rare ones where i found it fairly consistent with the AR/ world rules it set. i liked it more than the script writer's previous work - W. not sure if you seen it? on paper it should be the perfect series that i would enjoy, but sadly the execution of it missed the mark for me.

i agree with what you say about sci-fis , although i feel like i'm seeing a slow improvement- especially in the more recent ones. e.g.) alice and the king eternal monarch. interestingly with these two, where it didn't work was too much injection into the romance and then neglecting the other time travel/ parallel world elements. sisyphus executed much better than those two imo!

i have great hope for future sci-fis in the future :)

100% the actor of sigmas was excellent- shows his ability in how he managed to elevate a weak/ convoluted villain off the script and onto the screen.

i wished they made better use of president park- he was another standout performance for me.

lol i hear you about the inconsistencies- not sure how they thought they could get away with how sigma originally survived the nuclear storm?! i feel like this show would've done better by embracing the 'fantasy' side, so the 'science' elements wouldn't be so glaring in error!

are there are other sci fi dramas you like?

if you're looking for other series that deal with time travel, try 'times', 'train' & 'god's gift', but they are…
haha sounds like most dramas! i can't think of on the top of my head, ones that were strong consistently throughout...

i really enjoyed train! it did much better than alice and the king in my opinion and was a good exploration of parallel worlds in that respect

i agree with you about the time travel, at least there were a few more rules they were more consistent with. i think the main issue i had with alice/ the king was when they brought in ideas about the parallel worlds, which only disconnected the general time travel rules.

i could see where they were going with the general story (it came across a bit better than some other series) i think it fell flat with the antagonists (marginally better than the villain in tkem although it's a close call lol) and how the stakes were weirdly raised and deflate in matter of seconds (personally think they should've focused more on the brotherly relationship as i was more invested in that than the urm loveline)

i enjoyed seeing the dystopian scenes a lot too actually! it was intriguing for me to see what the future was like and i wished we saw more of how seo hae grew up.

what were your thoughts?
