really well said, this is where I am with shengyi as well. kudos to the writers because their relationship (and the comparison between their contrasting personalities) has been a high point of the show to me
as much as I am also annoyed and angry at the path sheng yi is going down, 1) I'm not surprised as the fragility of her mentality was shown since her husband captured Mudan and she basically told Mudan to just accept as she's not the first and won't be the last. The foreshadowing has been there since the very beginning. 2) Like others have said, she was shaped by her environment and the cycle of abuse and trauma is extremely hard to escape mentally, and for that I give her some grace. The only thing I can hope is that she can eventually redeem herself from whatever disaster she's about to bring Mudan and the rest of the girls, because it's only through the consequences of her actions can she wise up and become mentally strong so she can break that cycle of abuse.
Sheng yi has been a trainwreck waiting to happen from the beginning, and her purpose in Mudan's life might be to shake off this naievity that Mudan continues to have (forgiving ppl she should not be giving the time of day). Anyway, let's see
