This drama is getting more interesting. ML is starting to be intrigued by FL's character. She's pretty interesting.…
I don't like her attitude at all. You can see that the ML doesn't like her, and in a why she knows it. That's why she is so horrible and crazy.
Professionally speaking I can understand excelling in school, and having the best qualifications only to show up at your father's hospital and getting the same treatment as a colleague who has inferior qualifications. It can build a lot of resentment and make you feel like hard work is meaningless. Add to that her unrequited love and it sort of explains her character.
I had high expectations - kinda realistic setting, a little bit unconventional characters with subtle and deep…
I agree the story is unbalanced, but she is the main lead, and I guess this is about her growth. I am not a doctor, and I am only up to ep. 12. but I don't really blame her for her decisions. I sort of feel her mistakes are part of her training.
In terms of the other characters Dr. Xu has made a lot of mistakes as well. And while the female Dr. Gu is very competent, you can see she's obsessed with the ML. Maybe the other character's flaws don't seem as severe because only the FL get called out.
I don't like the Medical training trope of bullying newbies, but I guess that's all part of the story.
I have mixed feelings about the overall story but I am still enjoying the drama.
I lived for the moment ML abandoned SFL on their wedding. They went for all of the tropes in this show. The poor girl when crazy, but I really didn't like her in the end.
One day maybe someone will write a drama from the point of view of the SFL after she is realises her unrequited love will never be. And give these poor girls, a decent plot of independence, and self love. But for now, I am going to enjoy her suffering.
I m not on the list of those people disliking this drama because not even a single episode passed without any…
I like it too, I got tired of reading the negative comments so I haven't visited this page in a while, but I am enjoying the drama. Don't worry you are not alone.
Honestly I thought she'd end up with the bodyguard, but I really like that her ending was about improving herself.…
I think so too. She was very upset by her father's affair and the effect it had on their family. But the way they marginalised her was really hard to watch sometimes. I felt as angry as her. I thought the bodyguard was really sweet.
The class divide between our ML and FL just got even bigger
Now that the ML is a prince...maybe they will let the FL be the long lost daughter of a great general (who happens to be in charge of the biggest army).
I actually liked it better when both leads were common people.
I guess character development comes down to what you want to see her change?Be more refined (is that being a better…
Lol...the character development, I was referring to was "refinement" and I was mostly being sarcastic. Grace and style do have to do a lot with clothing, and mannerisms. Especially if we are judging it as an outsider. I'm not sure where this show is going but trying to change tomboys into princesses is a common trop.
Regarding Pride and Prejudice - I only said inspired by...I am very grateful there is no Lydia character in this drama to annoy me or a shrill mother to complain incessantly about the state of her nerves. I do miss a Lady Catherine though, it would be funny to see a Chinese version of her. Maybe they should make a Chinese P&P set a few hundred years ago? I would watch it.
Jane Austin is probably happy her popularity is as strong as ever 200 years after her death. Besides if Pride and Zombies (the film - I heard the books were good ) didn't get her to rise from the dead, I think we are fine.
Large number of sexual partners are still not acceptable in non-western countries. This applies to the MLs as…
It is sad. I think what's been bothering me more is that the portrayal of a brothel as an entertainment house (like a theatre/lounge). I think Bloody Romance, and Handsome Siblings show how scary those places are to women. Girls being dragged or coerced into entertaining men and generally not have the freedom to move about the way the FL does. A lot of dramas making it seem more like a club/drinking house, where girls dress up like men to see what's inside.
I guess it makes me uncomfortable seeing them romanticise brothels.

I don't want to be crass but virginity is more valuable in a brothel. So in a real life scenario they could be preserving it to sell it to the highest bidder. Especially since she's not a blood relative to the madam, but a disciple. We are suppose to suspend belief here and think her Master raised her out of the goodness of her heart. The nice madam is required for this trop.
Male chasteness is more foreign to me but I suppose it helps with the romance aspect.
I also think character wise she should be very wary of men if she grew up in a brothel, it could sort of explain why she friend-zoned every guy.
What I find harder to understand is if she grew up around women she should know a lot about clothing, and how to dress, even if she doesn't dress that way herself.
The Tramp / Deer in the Cauldron is an old drama where the ML grows up in a brothel. Bai Lu's character reminds me of him.
I am waiting for the next episode after 18. I love watching Bai Lu, and of course Lai Yi is the long awaited hero…
I guess character development comes down to what you want to see her change?
Be more refined (is that being a better person?). She is slow about eating habits, and knowing how to dress.
But she is learning: - The craft of fabrics and dressmaking - More about business - Leader to her clan
She has some prejudices about rich people, but MLs are the only good examples so far. Everyone else seems to: - demean her (throwing money at her to entertain them) - try to kill her (that wouldn't convince me either) - try to arrest her (twice so far) - remind her how much being rich is better (this is pretty much all the time)
She is making some business mistakes but are they mistakes? They flip flop depending on the situation.
She also has no awareness of men or romance. This is a good place they could add growth.
She could learn to trust a little more, especially in the ML but this is a slow burn romance.
She already has a lot of nice qualities as well including: - helping the people - solving problems
It feels like the prejudices happening in the show are happening to the audience too.
I wonder if this series is a little inspired by pride and prejudice?
Bai Lu is a beautiful woman, she can very easily act graceful, and elegant. As well as maintaining a strong confidence. But she probably got tired of being type casted.
