Poor Xuxu, he’s getting destroyed here. His coming release better be smashing. Darn... His love interest in his next release, “Falling Into Your Smile,” is with that one... Cheng Xiao. Damn!!!
I actually feel bad for the cast and crew. I think this drama could've been something special but the cuts destroyed…
This reminds me of “Legend of the Phoenix” with Jeremy Tsui but with a more disturbed male lead’s character. Fyi, I dropped that one too... The comatose empress is his sister-in-law, good grief!!! She had a choice and she chose the slimy snake instead of him. Get over yourself, already!!! His lack of decorum is a total turn off for me. His good looks can not redeem the character either.
Finally, we have Li Mo Zhi, one of those unmemorable actresses around, playing a strange hybrid soul between herself and her comatose sister. Why would I develop any attachment to a character who is in love with her sister’s boy-toy? This is absurd!!!
Yes, the reduction of episodes as well as the chopping and the editing are not doing any favor for this drama. However, these are not the worst parts about this drama... The storyline sucks!!!
I actually feel bad for the cast and crew. I think this drama could've been something special but the cuts destroyed…
Yep, as I said below: The editing in this drama is a complete nonsense. And I thought “Love a Lifetime” was bad... No, this one is way worse.
*The storyline is doing more jumping jacks than a physical trainer. I feel like that I am on a parkour trail; I can’t keep up with the crude chopping and editing. Hahaha...
The male lead’s acting skills is ok but I am not too keen on the female lead. The turn off for me are the characters, themselves. They are not likable.
I love Xuan Ji! She's one of my favorite female leads!
IKR... My high standards are killing me. Lol
Some good ones from recent years that might be to your likings: - Lost Love In Times - The General and I - Ancient Detective - Under The Power - Princess Weiyoung - Legend of Lu Zhen *Keep in mind, all those have strong lead characters.
I love Xuan Ji! She's one of my favorite female leads!
Hemmm... I am not really into fluffy dramas with hybrid costumes period. To me, they feel like side-stories that are produced for a more juvenile demography.
However, I did try “Romance of tiger and rose.” Unfortunately, I had to drop it. I am all for “Girl Power” but an entire city, full with masochist and chauvinist females, was too hard for me to swallow. Even though, it was simply a parody on the stereotypical ancient male gender, I could not give up my ideals on equality for a couple of laughs.
To follow up with your comment, I love strong dramas with a clear and linear storyline. Preferably with a strong male lead and a badass female lead. Of course, the female lead’s character must be: - Intelligent - Great strategist - Badass fighter - Has a clear and distinctive understanding of which man that she is in love with - I cannot stand indecisive female leads in any love triangle - I cannot stand obnoxious, annoying, irritating, rude, obtrusive and whinny female leads - If she happens to have great visual looks, that is a plus... But not a must
*Inevitably with those criteria, this year I can only count 3 dramas that follow them, so far: - Joy of Life - Cross Fire - Love and Redemption “Song of Glory” could have made it on the list but those morons decided to murder the show by killing the most important character off (Lige).
Hey, the gifs on your profile with the action packed FL, what drama / movie are they from?

But not a must
*I agree with most of your list. In “Princess Agents,” the female lead’s indecisiveness about that love triangle was a complete turn off for me. *In “Legend of Awakening,” I just didn’t like her whole character, period. *I have not watched “Young Blood” and “Love In Between.” But I hear the latter has a male lead character who is not a fighter. I am not really keen on that aspect either.
I love Xuan Ji! She's one of my favorite female leads!
Yeah... You used the right word, “Memorable.”
If we are lucky, we get: - A masterpiece one like, “Nirvana In Fire1” - A couple of memorable ones like, “Joy of Life1” “Love and Redemption” - Some good ones like, “The Untamed” “Ever Night1” “Once Upon A Time In Lingjian Mountain” “Arsenal Military Academy” “Cross Fire”
*And that within a wide sea of atrocious disasters. *However, 2020 is a SPECIAL one. This year is the year for a copious number of wtf... Chinese dramas. (I apologize for my French)
I love Xuan Ji! She's one of my favorite female leads!
True about what you said.
Few of the climatic and emotional scenes could have used a better voice dubbing.
However, I am restraining myself from nip-picking every single detail of the drama. This has been a horrible, horrible year for Chinese dramas so I am just appreciating one of the very few great ones without my regular nip-picking self.
I love Xuan Ji! She's one of my favorite female leads!
I like her. And I am very and extremely selective about my female lead characters.
Throughout her development, her growth and her evolution within the storyline; Xuan Ji manages to keep that beautiful tenderness from her early years. And also think that specific voice dubbing was more than appropriate for her character.
*Crystal Yuan did a damn good portraying that character.
Hey, the gifs on your profile with the action packed FL, what drama / movie are they from?
Hemmm. I checked my profile but I can’t find what you are referring to.
However, my favorite dramas with badass female lead characters can only be, either one of those followings: - Song of Glory - Lost Love In Times - The General and I - Ancient Detective - Under The Power - Princess Weiyoung - Legend of Lu Zhen
*These female lead characters would be my types of “Badass Female Leads” I hope that helps...
Yes. You got all the social issues and the silver-lining clues just right. There were more to this storyline that…
You and I both... However, I don’t think that we are the only ones. The whining and the complaining that i’m earring from my friends about their spouses strangely are getting more intense.
One of the reasons why it is so illogical is that they filmed like 70 episodes and they cut it to 36. You can…
The editing in this drama is a complete nonsense. And I thought “Love a Lifetime” was bad... No, this one is way worse.
*The storyline is doing more jumping jacks than a physical trainer. I feel like that I am on a parkour trail; I can’t keep up with the crude chopping and editing. Hahaha...
Can Cheng Xiao pull it off?
I don’t know. I’m scared.
I’m scared for Xuxu...
That’s low. Lol

2020...?
Please, do share those names we us.
- Intelligent

That ridiculous ending made the rest of the drama just superfluous.
Well, Shame...
Lige still remains one of my favorite badass female leads.
This ending in Song of Glory is one of their biggest ones.
I agree with you about the Lige’s character.
Well that is, until they killed her off; which was totally absurd.
You used the right word, “Memorable.”

Girl, you have to do what you have to do...
Do your thing!!!

That is what happens when they build a perfect character of a male lead.
Now, we have to struggle through the symptoms of “The Si Feng’s After Effects.”
And I thought “Love a Lifetime” was bad... No, this one is way worse.
*The storyline is doing more jumping jacks than a physical trainer.
