Well said. I came for a similar vibe, to “General and I” - 2 well-balanced main characters - 2 equally great main leads - 2 convincing leading characters What I actually got - A female lead who thinks she is the best thing that has ever happened to the gods - I simply could not be convinced by her character; nor by her leadership as a general or her romantic presence in the scenes - The male lead started as a vindictive tiger but by episode 30, he turned into an unrealistic defenseless kitten who agrees with the female lead’s every word - The second lead actor had more scenes than the first lead actor - The second lead actor was smarter than everyone; even though, the female lead thought she was the smartest creation in the universe
Everything was too easy Everything was too Hollywood It was a well-packaged-unconvincing production.
Well, I am happy that I waited an entire year before watching this second season. It really did not surpass or come close to the first season. Yes, I am disappointed. Please, no more seasons. No need for a third season. Leave that for “Taxi Driver,” “38 Squad,” “Black Knight,” “Vigilante,” and “Signal.”
Ughhh, Song Yimeng's character is def so frustrating and I lowkey like her sister Song Yiting more because she…
Not for me. It felt like too little too late. Both with the FL and with the ML’s emperor/father. They were unlikable for so long that unfortunately, I was not able to be convinced by their change of characters.
Man, that was rough. I did not quite understand where they were going with the convoluted plots. Was it a satire about all the ridiculous clichés that the screenwriters and directors, these days, tend to force down our throats? Was it a fresh look on a quasi-new concept about transmigrated modern characters in ancient storylines? Who knows… The only thing I know… It was a hot mess. I surely appreciate that Liu Yu Ning tried his best with the miserable character he had to portray.
Fyi: For me, the FL’s sister character was more modern than the actual FL. Her way of thinking and viewing the world was more avant-garde and less narrow-minded than the FL. I wish that she were in FL.
Finally, finally done. That was 40 episodes of pure hot mess. “A Dream within a Dream” is more like “A Hot Mess Within a Hot Mess” or more like, someone else has perfectly pointed out… “Everyone Hates Nan Heng.” Wow!
I do appreciate the on-your-face satire behind the production. It was about time that they showcased the complete absurdities of those nonsensical and convoluted storylines/twisted plots that those screenwriters/scriptwriters/directors (Who are undoubtedly on some strong narcotics…) are being put out every single year. For that… I thank them!
Wait. Episode 22 and the FL is still annoying? Darn! I thought by then, her character would have been less annoying.
You are right about one part. It is not this production that is not for me, it is her character that is most definitely not for me. The rest is very much entertaining.
I personally believe that her character is supposed to feel somewhat awkward because she's technically the only…
Interesting. I dropped "Go Princess Go" Too flamboyant and too convoluted for my taste. As for the FL character here… Well, I already said what I think of her character. Not much more comes to mind after that.

Yep! I would have taken “Mary Sue Ice Queen“ a million times over the annoying, irritating, exasperating, self-centered, and sanctimonious knowing-it-all all FL.
You are going to need a lot… lot… lot… lot… of perseverance to finish it.
It might be your kind of thing.

Yep, Arthur can do that to us.
I do not trust him…
He certainly will bring big trouble to his original master.
Yes.
But they have zero chemistry.
But there is absolutely no chemistry between the main couple.
It really did not surpass or come close to the first season.
Yes, I am disappointed.

Second episode - Then, I was mildly intrigued
Third and fourth episodes - Now, I am vaguely intrigued
PS: I will give it 2 more episodes before I lose all interest.

Differences in opinions do not have to bring animosity.
Everyone is allowed to their own opinions.
Beauty of this life of ours.
