I remember seeing modern beauty products as PPL in the historical drama - General and I.That was seriously hilarious𤣅
Cdramaās characters are funny. The female characters usually are freshly graduated or just starting out⦠However, they always have enough disposable incomes for fresh nuts, gigantic hotpots and beauty products.
I am glad you enjoyed it, honestly I decided to write this article just so I could include that game... the rest…
I am from New York; so whenever, I find myself in Chinatown, I always have an eye out for Rio. Blame the modern cdramas. So goes for Soju; whenever, I go to Korea-town. They caught me in their trapš .
I didnāt fully love it; however, I definitely enjoyed it. I have always enjoyed watching Kwon Na Ra in her past works⦠And in this one, she didnāt disappoint. The gentleness and the tenderness in her performance were beautifully displayed⦠Very natural.
My main disappointment is the final repercussion that was given to Ok Eul Tae. The jerk got everyone in a limbo of profound misery for one thousand darned years and thatās all he got⦠He just disintegrated into the airš¤Ø. That was not satisfying at all.
The background is based on historical facts. The miserable upbringing of the young crown prince and the atrocious…
And that is exactly that! Since I have always loved historical pieces, no matter the origins. Sitting through 50 or 100 episodes or more, of a well manicured and a well directed storyline⦠Is simply a pleasure for me. Unfortunately, halfway through that Red Sleeve (Which is a ridiculously minuscule number of episodes, compared to the old classic Sageuks) I was like, āWhat the hell, am I watching? And am I watching the same drama as everyone else?ā
As for the FL⦠It was not just the actress. The writing behind her character⦠The peculiar performance of the actress⦠And the directing that was obviously fallowed⦠Besides that her initial character was presented as strong and independent; everything about her was just odd.
Everything that you wrote is so true. If someone asks me my thoughts about this newer version of Yi San (2007)? My answers would be as follow: - I liked Junhoās performance but I did not really like his character. - I did not like the actressā performance and I still have absolutely no clue about her ambiguous character. - The only character that I truly enjoyed in the show was⦠The dense, naive and dimwitted royal guard.
The background is based on historical facts. The miserable upbringing of the young crown prince and the atrocious death of his late father. As for the romance⦠Yi San (2007) made sense. This one does not.
Also⦠It was hard watching them together for the most parts. I have watched Yi San (2007) countless times; which is in a nutshell, the original version for this one. Never once, did I hope that they donāt end up together. Their romance was so heartbreaking and so heart-wrenching. Her character was willing to suffer through cancer in secret so she could give birth to her second son. And the king cried and sobbed like a mental man when he found out about it, on her and unborn sonās death bed. āYou promised me to stay with me forever and to never leave me alone inside this prison all by myselfā¦ā There was no forced romance, no uncomfortable trap. He let her made the decision to have the life that she wanted . To go study in China (Qing) for years under numerous famous Chinese painters. She decided on her own volition to come back to Joseon for him, after years apart. Her decision! And I loved that, about that well developed storyline.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I literally thought that I was the only strange one in the group; who noticed the so-called romance between the 2 leads felt basically forced and illogical.
A king who is begging for the L word, to the point of trapping his love interest inside of a prison-palace⦠And a consort who is still ambiguous about her true feelings and the reason why she decided to stay inside of her golden cage, even after 17 episodes⦠Unless, you are confident about your love for your man, loosing your hard earned independence and you donāt give a rat a$s about sharing your man with a hundred of other scheming wenches⦠Why would you agree to stay?
I have to admit that I was impressed by Junhoās performance in this role. The delivery of his emotions was well done. However, I have to also admit that I got annoyed countless times by his character. I basically implored him to stop begging for her loveš . And that was not the actorās fault but downright, the writing behind his character. As for the FL⦠She reminds me of the FL doctor from Nirvana in Fire 2. Too bold, too cold, too ambiguous about her true feelings but she did not mind the attention, the kinship and the intimacyš¤Ø.
For me, it was a very weird romance. I am simply astonished by the rave reviews and the high ratings. Oh well, it is not the first time and most definitely not the last.
I kind of agree with this analysis after I rewatched the drama again. Apart from the actors/actresses great performances,…

Find The Rioš šš¤£
There is no modern cdrama without a Rio. Itās impossible.
That was seriously hilarious𤣠.
Chineseā¦
How is that possible?
Are they sure that it is not a Taiwanese production?
Anyway, the first episode was an embarrassingly poor comical version of Addicted: Heroin.
I can not give it, even an āA for effort.ā
