If you only watch 2 episodes you can't understand, this drama is layers and nothing we are told in the drama is…
I get it but I was just saying that this project is layerd and filmed in such a way that if you watch it multiple times you keep cathing on to things. So I just kind of came to the conclusion that 2 episodes will not let you see the entire picture. I also have to mentione that this show it's not like the webtoon.
It's not that I want to contradict you, seriously.

I watched it and it was good, I get frustrated with overly dumb plot holes and helpless FL and this one has none of that. I think it's ok if you don't expect over-the-top romance.
What are your favorites?

I think both FM (Mei Lin) and the General of Yan (Yin Luo Mei ) were drugged at one point in the show. Maybe other secondary girls as well, so which one do you mean?

Title Nevertheless, Spoiler
I agree about the FL, I never thought that her actions were stupid, she just went with it because she really liked…
Ty!!!! I kept saying this over and over because no one noticed and kept calling him a red flag. The ML never lied once, from the start he told her exactly what he was doing and his thought, but the girl listened and believed more the rumor and the gossip. The was an amazing scene where the ML was visually separated by a shadow and the lockers, after we witness his experience, and we hear other characters interpret his experience and dimming them, winning over his true experience and spreading rumors effectively changing people's perspective of him. He then remains silent and does not correct them.
I think that is a very telling scene that kind of defines hist interaction with all characters except Nabi, and that is the way we as viewers get to know him, because that is what we are told by the characters, but the info does not match the actions at all, there are so many important visual q but people don't pay attention at all.
The reason they got together and he kept going to Nabi is because even with his immature thinking he recognized that Nabi had a serious/genuine interest in him, while all others never cared genuinely for him (the others did it for "cloud").
I think this show is a masterpiece in how they managed to tell the story, it has so many layers and the cinematography is amazing, the visual q are on point. "You have to show not tell".

When people say the ML is the worst red flag I'm really curious about what kind of men they usually meet when…
I don't think he is a red flag at all, I think this show is a masterpiece and layered and the majority don't get it.
The ML is completely different from how the other characters portray him, and we "learn" about him through their words/what we are told, but they are all lies, gossip and rumors, while we are silently shown through actions just the opposite, but people don't catch the q. At the end they don't stay together because of fake romance, or this ideal we learn about but rarely exists, they stay together because they actually want each other, they chose each other with awareness, so they will never break apart (but they both needed to get to that place).
It's also why I like the phrase "Love is choosing the same person every day" because it's not an accident, or random without reason, it implies it is a choice and work. People need to be willing to work and be present.

He is not a red flag at all.

Who thought giving the ML this character is ok??? What in the numerous red flags is this huh !!!! I cant continue…
If you only watch 2 episodes you can't understand, this drama is layers and nothing we are told in the drama is true, the actions are the truth and the main guy's words are the truth. If you are not able to catch the q, you will not understand the message. This show is a masterpiece, as in how the story unfolds and how it was filmed.

Romanticizing red flags is a no no for me
it's not a red flag, and this is not romantic.

the original is from webtoon
Yes, but it was changed, the setting is the same but the dynamic and reasoning and how the story is, it's very different. So is the Japanese one closer to the webtoon or to the K version? Or is it interpreted differently?

The webtoon is different, this was changed, and it became better, a masterpiece.

Similar show recommendation: US series 'Tell me lies'; toxic relationship with a master manipulator, sexy/steamy,…
But this was not a manipulator at all, he never lied once and this was not toxic.
The reason I like this series is because the visual q are more important than the talk, they show you the truth while the other characters are warped up in rumors and say lies.
The viewer has to actually pay attention to what is going on and not what it's told in order to get what is going on,and the majority failed to do so. This drama as one of the best writing , directing and producing... because it's layered.

Title The Longest Promise Spoiler
sad ending or happy ending?? spoiler please
It is one of those classic Chinese endings.
In Chinese folklore or legends, there is always kind of a "sad" ending because they consider that the ultimate show of love is selfless love, in which the characters would die for each other, so in a lot of romantic dramas the ending is sad like that, because they consider it the most romantic and ultimate love (kind of like Romeo and Juliet in the west). In recent years they do open endings when after a character dies (in xianxia) they give you hope that maybe just maybe there is a way to turn things around, and the ending is left to the imagination of the viewer. So for this show, the 2 points mentioned above are present.

I don't mind these types of endings because they are so "traditional" I get it from an artistic standpoint. I liked this show but I have to say it does not have that type of over romantic scenes, so people complain about the chemistry. I don't think it's a chemistry thing I think it's just how the dynamic of the characters is written. Because of their personality, it reminded me of relationships between people with an age gap, where the responsibility seemed to be more on the shoulders of one character, the character that is more mature, serious, composed, aware, and so on. The acting was good for both actors, but the FL's character was frustrating for me.
I watched the show, and did not regret, but it's not one of my favorites.

I'm thinking about to watch this drama, but I'm not sure yet.Can someone please let me know, what this drama is…
This is an interesting drama for me, it's not the tipical overload of romance so if people expect that, it's not.
This is more similar to a wuxia, because it has some conspiracies in the palace and struggles for power. It's also a story of revenge and truth.
If people love strong females that can hold their own, are smart and independent, this project is it. Any missunderstandings are resolved fast in this one
The acting is good, the fight scenes are good as well.
I think generally this is a good project for what it is, but people that love romance and that type of chemistry where the lovers have a lot of scenes where they look in eachoter's eyes and you feel they would die for eachother, it's not that type of story.
THe characters are composed and calculated, so the majority of time they are quite serious :) They do have cute moments as well but they are rare.

The shows are not about that and they have sexual tension and that is it. They should not focus on that only as…
The cute pecks usually are done by the actors that are underage in real life, adult actors do have more realistic kisses (this is what I noticed). Also if the series is meant for teens also less "heat".

Not exactly. But I started watching BL when there were barely any out there, the industry was small and "underground" (it was not viewed positively by the mainstream). I generally like to watch all kinds of projects from all over the world. I love to "dissect things/projects" in order to learn because I studied, script writing, production, character design, animation, and so on. I know how hard it is to put a project on its feet by collaborating with many people and having someone above you who has the final word (often they want money/results but don't care about the projects). I'm not particularly eager to criticize hatefully. :)
So when it comes to BL I know the origins and the "purpose" (but not many know it and confuse it with LGBTQ+), and in the beginning, there was no variety, the first BL's had sexual tension but were always focused on one background and they tried to paint thing cutely. People asked for variety and then the industry pushed things in a sexual direction (which was the most obvious choice because its origins are in erotica, and the biggest viewer base is straight women enjoying a bit of sexual content) but as the industry became mainstream and less looked down on, the viewers became more varied and the demand for a serious story, well-developed characters grew. I noticed that people had high expectations of BL's and they wanted to see these projects taken seriously, they wanted variety in genres, stories, and characters.
Romance is good, sexual tension is good, and passion is good, but this is not the only thing BL can do, so for KP the sexual content was not too much, but it was known from the start that it was an 18+ show, it was a big part of the project, while other shows/movies focused on something else more.
In conclusion, I think by promoting the show in the right category people would know what to expect and what to search for, to be able to watch exactly what they crave. KP was good for what it was I think they executed it right because I saw similar shows that felt like they wanted to emulate the same energy that KP did but they did not manage to do so, something felt off. I noticed people were displeased by the shows that pushed sex and lacked a good story, in character development, and accused the shows of using "sex" to sell bad projects. People expect the shows to be all over good and they don't want the "sex scenes" to be the base of the show or the shows to be fetishized and have that the only thing that's going for them. Does that make sense? Did I manage to explain what I meant well?
The first comment by Lord Seungho seems to want to see a more intimate look, which I guess would fit the theme of the show since it's supposed to be more edgy, but this show is just not that type.
I also noticed that generally, the projects that showed more nudity in the past were of a darker theme, and if I remember correctly they were aired as pornographic, and when I watched them I just felt like I watched something sad (the shows are violent and dark).
An actor who has been in the industry for a long time and has many projects is Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat, one of my all-time favorite movies is with him, he was in the projects I mentioned above, and those projects again are rated as mature 18+, 100% not for underage or even easily impressionable/offended viewers, and not on TV in the hours of the day, because they are not easily digestible. (somehow the projects that portray more sexual content end up being more about mindless sex, unhealthy lifestyles, abuse, and dark themes, as I noticed).
What is your impression/observation?

Can bl series have proper NC scene? Like without any clothes, just like in Hollywood movies, NC scene in bl series…
The shows are not about that and they have sexual tension and that is it. They should not focus on that only as TV series. If you want somethnig like that you need to go for the projects that are 18+ like KinnPorsche... but generally people don't want too much o that.

I have too many complains about this drama.1. The usual enemies to lovers troupe but it turns out to be a misunderstanding.2.…
Well it'as not strange to see illiterate women in that time in China, she was presumed dead and she was not raised by her parents, it's not a big deal that she is illiterate. She clearly went to lear martial arts and fighting so maybe did not learn to read, even her body language shows that she is not feminine and "educated", she seems a bit "wild".

No entitlement lol.... if international fans would pay to watch it. What are you on about?!!!
If creators want their projects to be watched fairly, they will be paid for that; it's a service. No one expects them to give it out for free. WTF!!!
I don't see international projects gatekeeping stuff, they are available only for people who pay lol... Are Asians special and floating above others?

There is no season 2... yet.In case you didn't know, the Chinese Paladin dramas are based off the game franchise…
The games have a story line, so they made the series inspired by the 7 games (the numbers represent the game they got inspired by) So CP1 means first game. :)
