This drama could've been a fan favorite forever if they had focused it on the romcom and given more attention to the pressure of the entrance exams rather than the nonsensical thriller. In the beginning, I didn't completely oppose the murder subplot, but I wasn't exactly excited about it either because I have romcom with thriller trauma (You Are My Spring), as this formula doesn't seem to work, and this is another example.
I will write a more detailed review next week once I finish it but does anyone remember the stalker student who was hit by the metal ball and we never heard of again? I thought they would put off her case and bring it up again once the detectives started investigating the whole serial killer case, but we are 3 eps from the ending and the writers seem to have forgotten about her completely. This isn't even the only time the writers have either forgotten about something they added/hinted at, or given lazy solutions to the problems they created.
It's such a shame because I know Jung Kyung-ho and Jeon Do-yeon wouldn't have chosen this show had they received the full script with this nonsensical development.
ikr .. imagine it would be the other way around.. FL being 12years older.. the sh*tstorm
I know the drama is doing well. My comment about Kdrama writers was more of a general remark about some shows I've watched this week that have portrayed most female characters in some bad view. It was kinda unrelated to the topic, sorry.

That's so unfortunate. I'm glad I haven't kept up with people's reactions to the show, and have just enjoyed it on my own. Jeon Do-yeon is gorgeous and a great actress, and there's literally nothing wrong with being old. I really hope one day Kdrama writers and viewers will stop shaming women for literally everything.
I really liked this show but the ending kind of put me off...
I loved both leads and how their conditions were represented, I think the FL did amazing trying to live her life despite everything she went through. I think the character was perfectly written, and Oh Yeonseo portrayed the role amazingly. I don't have complaints with Jungwoo either because I also think both his character and his acting were on point.
However, the way they got back together made me a bit uncomfortable because even though it's not what happened, it was made to look as a manipulative act of aggression. His actions were out of character because Hwi-oh would've never done something like that that would purposely hurt Min-kyung. He literally said, "if you don't get back with me, I will become alcoholic and aggressive. Look, I am being aggressive now to prove it to you." This is f*cked up and I think it was completely out of character for him. The show portrayed everything about abusive relationships, mental illnesses and conditions so well, so why choose such a dangerous approach to get the leads back together? It looked like they didn't know how else to wrap up the show even though there were countless of other ways to do it.
Still, I really liked it and enjoyed it a lot, but this part here bothered me so much that it changed my final rating as well.
Male lead going AWOL for all day and night without anyone checking on him in his cell, I know they don't care…
I agree with everything you said and the comment below. Even though S1 had very unrealistic scenes as well, I think ep2 in this scene went overboard with, especially with the hacking into the gates of the very obviously abandoned theme park. I don't think that was needed at all? Like where was the guy going anyway, and why did they need to hack the doors? I'm not bothered by unrealistic fight scenes and unrealistic super strength from Doki as much as I am by this type of things that are never explained and, if ever given an explanation, is simply by Goeun being the best hacker in the universe. It's kinda mediocre writing and I never felt like this with S1. I will still be watching it because I love this show and the characters, but things like that, like you said, ruin the experience tbh.
It's not a realistic period drama, but it was enjoyable. Still, I skipped some parts that seemed filling and repetitive. I just have a question, who were the two kids in the last scene?
Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown of the plot. I watched the first 2 eps and then got too busy to watch it, also because I didn't really like the premise. I found the dynamics between the leads very problematic since the very beginning, and knowing that it just gets worse, I'm glad I didn't continue it and will simply drop it.
I must've had too many expectations for this season, but I feel like I just got a slap on my face with that ending. I'm too upset to write a full comment, so I'll just say I'm highly disappointed and wished for so much more. Kudos to the cast for doing their best with this messy script with to plot whatsoever.
I agree with everything you said sooooo much, I'm so frustrated with how they completely depersonalized Naksu and ruined her character completely by making her a damsel in distress, like THEE Naksu? It's a horrible ending.
