Watching ep 1 was such a chore. I was waiting to start it so bad but because I was busy with many things I could only start it today, but ep1 was absolutely boring and set nothing for a good story for me. I checked several comments and reactions and it looks like it will be all over the place and not get anywhere decent, so I'm dropping it.
Not thrice!! He fell in love twice and that too with the same person.
Did you watch ep 10? He literally confessed openly to CP what he feels exactly, he said he loves him and is attracted to him. What's so scary about admitting that Jiwoon is bisexual? Lol, there's no need to specify it in the drama, it's pretty obvious. He loved a woman when he was a teenager, and now as an adult he embraced his feelings towards a man and admitted he loves a man. Why are people fighting for their lives and doing mental gymnastics for this...
The only gay couple I watched in kdrama was in Nevertheless. And they did not have the courage to go to the end…
The problem with Joseon Exorcist wasn't the fiction historical drama, it was that it used real people and real settings that were presented as Chinese with Chinese ornaments and attires. It's not because it was a fictional drama, it's because it had real historical settings of events in Korean history with Chinese culture. Also, you'd need to understand the relationship and tension between Korea and China right now - China has been trying to appropriate elements of Korean culture and history, so a Korean drama about historical events being disguised as Chinese culture was the problem here. It's much deeper than just "fictional freedom" for a Korean drama.
Thank you for your "rant". It gives a different prospective of this drama. I have not watch it yet, but I have…
Thank you for your comment! This drama is very fun and enjoyable, so if you decide to watch it I'm sure you'll enjoy it too, despite the actions of the characters in the latest eps lol.
what i've learned in relationships and stories about relationships that end because of the guy's female friend…
Never once did I imply Saeyi isn't wrong, though? Which part of my comment gave you the conclusion that I don't think Saeyi wanted to break them up? It's obvious that's her goal, and it would be with any relationship Woong gets into. I literally said multiple times on my comment that I did not defend Saeyi at all. But at the end of the day, if you or your partner let someone external to your relationship get in between you and your partner, that's up to you two. When I said Saeyi was still Woong's old friend and Yumi isn't entitled to determine who he can be friends with, that doesn't mean I didn't think Saeyi didn't want to break up. I know I made a long comment, but don't nitpick on my words for your convenience and twist them.
Am I really the only one who doesn't think Woong's actions in ep 9 were wrong? Everyone on this comment thread keeps saying he's trash and dull, that he doesn't consider Yumi, and I'm honestly shocked. This may be a rant a bit long.
Yumi is controlling, she's insecure and jealous. Of course, she has a "reason" to be, Saeyin is definitely annoying and her behavior was problematic, that's for sure, but Woong always reassured Yumi of his feelings towards her, he made sure Yumi knew he was her priority. Since the beginning, Yumi kept trying to make Saeyi go away from her boyfriend. Being someone's boyfriend doesn't mean you're entitled to their friendships. Saeyi had been his friend for years, regardless of her intentions, and Yumi had only dated Woong for a few months when she was already being wary about Saeyi's existence. Since the beginning when she found out Saeyi wasn't a man and that she was pretty, Yumi started overanalyzing everything Saeyi did. Yes, Yumi was right and we all know that, but wouldn't a confident girlfriend still trust her boyfriend when he keeps reassuring her that nothing's happening between those two? She should've just trusted him and keep going with her relationship. If another woman is interested in Woong for whatever reasons, will she blame him too?
If Yumi wasn't so sensitive about Saeyi, as a confident girlfriend would be, he wouldn't have had trouble telling her casually that Saeyi moved to his building. I can't even say it was wrong of him not telling her, because, at the end of the day, Saeyi is not relevant to them, she means nothing in their relationship, and telling Yumi about Saeyi moving would have given her the importance that she doesn't have. Yumi demanding an apology from him for not telling her that a friend/coworker moved to his building is condescending and controlling, she's not entitled to know that. Woong didn't do anything wrong there.
I agree with Yumi when she told Woong that a friend like Saeyi would try to control anyone that he tried to date in the future, not just Yumi, and that she may not be a good friend, but again, that's not up to her to tell him, and she didn't really have to make a scene about it. I was uncomfortable seeing two women fighting for the same man, it's really stupid. And being in a relationship doesn't entitle you to your partner's friends and personal life. Yumi needs to set boundaries.
Now, it bugs me a lot that her relationship with Babi is celebrated by everyone on this comment thread, but if Woong texted with a woman (even work-related) and that woman made him smile ear to ear as Babi does to Yumi, everyone would call Woong a cheater and that he's leading her on, and Yumi would break hell loose if any female breathed next to Woong and Woong smiled back, but is it okay for her to do it? I'm not saying she can't have a close coworker like Babi, I'm saying that she (and the viewers, apparently) needs to check her morals and what she considers is good for her to do but not for Woong to do.
Someone said Woong was trash because he knew Saeyi liked him and didn't do anything about it. What was he supposed to do? Reject her when she didn't even confess? He considered her a friend and she considered him as one as well, so what was he supposed to do about her? He only acted now because Yumi made a big deal out of their relationship, let's be real, otherwise, he could've stayed friends with Saeyi with "no issue" (I'm not defending Saeyi at all).
I hate that this discussion is making me defend A MAN over the women in the show, but every single female character is so annoyingly written that I just can't defend them. Someone below said that it was nice that even though the webtoon's writer was a man he understood women's perspectives. What's the perspective that is portrayed properly here, that Ruby is terribly annoying and kept getting in the way of Yumi and her crush on Ugi, knowing that Yumi wanted to date Ugi? Regardless of the outcome there, that was annoying. Saeyi, a controlling and manipulative b*tch that doesn't know her place in her male friend's life, is that a good perspective of a woman? Or Yumi, insecure, illogical in many ways, controlling, jealous? I'm not saying Yumi doesn't have good qualities, she actually has many and I love that now she gave herself the first priority, but the female characters in this show are really hard to like.
The only thing I won't defend Woong about is that he didn't support her on her marketing call. Even after he expressed his opinion, he could've still told her that at the end of the day, it was her own decision and she should do what her gut tells her to do and that he would support her regardless. It's kind of unexpected for him to behave this way, knowing that he's supported her always before. I'm getting very frustrated with this writer because he keeps making characters act weirdly.
Also, last one, I find it funny that people think Babi doesn't have any intentions with Yumi when it's obvious that first of all, no man approaches a woman so much with no ulterior intention, and he remembers everything about her, keeps making excuses to see her even knowing that she has a boyfriend. Men don't act like this out of courtesy or friendship, and they know that they "should" have a limit with women with boyfriends, and if they decide to cross it is because they have another intention.
The tragic trauma, albeit being tragic was not traumatic at all. ML was not at all at fault even remotely close.…
My point tbh. They failed to create an actual traumatic experience. While I agree that traumas affect people differently, a smart guy like Dooshik would've faced this in another way too. I also think that the alleged trauma made him act illogically. For instance, someone as traumatized as him wouldn't have been so "willing" to start out a relationship like that. I know he took a while to open up to Hyejin, but imo he never really hesitated to date her, despite thinking everyone around him that he loved died because of him. Wouldn't a person with this trauma at some point think that if he loves a woman, she would die too? We never see that from him. I like Dooshik a lot as a character, but imo there are some traits on him that don't make sense considering how they built the character previously. The fact that these people didn't apologize even after admitting that Dooshik was not at fault makes me sick. Seona explicitly said she wouldn't apologize, why is that? You know he wasn't at fault. I understand she said those things to him while she was grieving, don't condone it but she was not in a right state of mind so it's understandable. But saying she wouldn't apologize today is really wrong, and Dooshik kept apologizing again. That's just fucked up. On top of that, they add Gamri's death just like that when it doesn't have much to do with the plot at all and just for more tear-jerking scenes, and for what? I was afraid the writers would run out of ideas for the remaining eps after ep 13 and it definitely happened. This ep was frustrating indeed.
I'm glad I took to mdl, I'm not the only one who thinks he was unfairly blamed. I mean, he's got so blamed that…
It bothered me so much that neither of them apologized to Dooshik even after admitting he wasn't at fault. They admitted that they took him as their punching bag and left it like that? Like not sorry, you people are full of bullshit and hope you have a miserable life like you made Dooshik's smh
"Met a guy who fucked me good, maybe I don't need revenge no mo- FUCK, you dared to kill him?!?!?! You piece of shit, I will kill you myself!!!" And she was right. Pildo my poor meow meow, you will never be forgotten.
Ep 8 was devastating, positively and not so much. I loved this drama through and through. Sohee's acting was top-notch, Bohyun's character was literally amazing, and both Heesoon and Hakjoo were outstanding. The whole drama was pretty good. I'm very sad about #that scene towards the end, but it's still really good and definitely worth it.
Also, at this point I'm pretty sure that the mastermind behind everything that Jihyuk wants to find out is Jihyuk…
Oh, I totally forgot about the drugs being on his blood. It makes sense then, that Manager Ha mentioned his drug addiction randomly. I did think since the beginning that he could be the villain too, but now I think so even more, considering he was a drug addict, plus the fact that he has that condition of selective amnesia is also a hint. I also thought the pills hinted him being somehow addicted, but it could've also been just his headaches. But yeah, I agree with all you said.
Also, at this point I'm pretty sure that the mastermind behind everything that Jihyuk wants to find out is Jihyuk…
Glad you agree! It's unfortunate because I think they could've handled the story better, but every week new characters are introduced that mean nothing to the viewer and drift away from the original plot. Like, I have to think hard and remember the first eps to try to understand what we're even doing at this point of the show lol.
I don't think this is a bad drama but I do think the writers either rushed things, or just didn't know how to…
Also, at this point I'm pretty sure that the mastermind behind everything that Jihyuk wants to find out is Jihyuk himself, lol. Pretty sure he was the one that 'leaked' the info that got his partners dead (and maybe he even killed them himself), he probably has connections with Baek San Mo or Sangmuhoe or so, or something similar to the undercover agent being too absorbed in his role and losing himself happened to him and that's how he ended up drunk and addicted (not saying he was an undercover agent himself, but just the experience). Also again, the jump between ep 6 and ep 7 was really bad. I thought I had skipped an ep and found out many people felt the same way. We left ep 6 with Jihyuk in the hospital about to being captured. While it was a given that he would be captured, they never showed that scene and simply threw us to some flashbacks and Jihyuk in the cell. That shows no script continuity. Probably did so to save airing time, I guess. Then I don't really know why Manager(?) Ha said that Jihyuk was the one keeping himself in the cell and not because of other people, and wonder if it was because Jihyuk wanted to stay away from drugs??? When did they hint he was a junkie? All they said was that he needed some pills the psychologist gave him because of his constant headaches, but never did they imply he was addicted to them until Mr. Ha said so. Back to the thousand of characters introduced in each ep, I think that the only actually meaningful plot twist left this could have is that Jihyuk himself is the bad guy, because all the other characters have lost importance with how many new characters keep being introduced, and none of the bad guy suspects (the political dudes) have enough importance to the plot or audience to shock us if any of them turns out to be the bad guy. Like at this point we're just expecting any of them to be the bad guy.Like, they introduced that Ri Dongchul person in ep 7 (or was it ep 8 I'm not sure) and he ended up being dead towards the end of ep 8 and expect us to be shocked? We're still processing who was the old guy with the rare disease that Baek Sanmo's people kept alive hidden in a facility made for torturing people apparently, just to kill him off in the same episode he was introduced only to shock our leads? Then the next ep the writers introduced and killed yet another character that we had no idea about in the previous ep, therefore was non-important to the audience? It really makes no sense.
EDIT: ok don't mind some of these things because I hadn't finished ep 8 when I wrote this and that ending and preview kinda debunked some of my theories. Now I'm worried about JiYi betraying each other:(
I don't think this is a bad drama but I do think the writers either rushed things, or just didn't know how to develop the plot. They keep adding 3-5 new characters each week that it's hard to keep up with the actual plot. I like crime dramas so it's not that this is not my cup of tea - I actually love the vibe and production, OST is amazing, and acting top-notch, which is why I keep watching it. But the writing really could've been done better. One thing that I keep noticing is that the moment Jihyuk and Jeyi find out some clue, suddenly everything starts revolving around it and they find more clues everywhere, already introduced characters willingly start revealing information about the new clue JiYi found when they could've just revealed everything before. Obviously, there wouldn't be drama if that happened, but my point is that things happen too conveniently, so it kind of takes away the thrilling part that it's supposed to have. You just know they will find everything out.
I thought I was the only one a little lost and - to an extent - overwhelmed by the huge amount of characters that keep being introduced with major roles in the bigger picture, but I found many people sharing the same concerns and having even more questions than I do, so it means the drama itself isn't so clear even for a crime / thriller / political / investigation drama. I will probably not drop it, since there are only 4 eps left anyway, and it's not like I hate it at all - I actually enjoy the concept, theme, vibes, and production it has, plus I enjoy Goongmin and Jieun's characters a lot (I love how Jeyi isn't a weakling and is actually the MVP of the show because she's the one that finds out about everything, the one with connections and access to everything). But it's not really the best crime / political drama out there.
