👎With each episode it's becoming more bad. 👎 Nonsense developments. 👎Bad cinematography and 👎worst…
You're saying only ten year olds would like this and that you can only like it if you have a ten year old brain (which is ableist, btw), while literally typing like a ten year old... You can dislike something without insulting the people who like it.
I didn't think I would say this but the ending of Penthouse was incredibly satisfying. Other than X and X and X (and X) being gone, I don't have any complaints. They wrapped up all the stories pretty well, the bad guys got what they deserved, the kids got an amazing character development, especially Seokkyung and Eunbyeol. I really didn't think I would end up liking their characters so much in this last ep, but the writers righted several wrongs and their development was comforting. I like that the girls realized all the wrongs on their own and decided to better themselves. Rona and Seokhun deserved everything they got too.
I don't want to leave a full review, but I do want to comment that this last ep really was the cherry on top of a cake that had great ingredients at the beginning, but towards the last baking stage it became nonsensical. Eps 13-14 saved the mess this season was and this ep really wrapped up everything well. I've got to give it to the writers for this.
okay now that last ep is out please tell me about Rona and Seokhoon, I don't care about spoilers (but only about…
They end up happily. Rona is the greatest new prima donna and Seokhun a famous pianist in Europe. They perform in Sinmoon Arts Center (previous CheongA Arts Center) and have a happy ending.
I didn't really like the first ep. It looks like it's gonna be a ridiculous show of grown up women bullying a child and this snob mindset passed down on the kids. I'm tired of bullying plots. Also tired of the "top 1%" dramas. Enough is enough. Will keep it on hold for now and check out the comments as the show progresses I guess.
I never really complain about people saying negative things about a drama, but if you're gonna watch and not pay attention and then ask about the plot because you didn't pay attention, why even bother watching it? I know not all dramas are for everybody and that's fine, but asking about basic plot lines in the first eps when the drama is very clear and not hard to follow at all is kind annoying.
This was incredibly boring. I had high expectations since I like the leads a lot but it was all over the place since the beginning. I hoped it would get on track as eps followed but the only relative good eps were the first 2, maybe until ep 4. After that, they dropped all thriller plot and gave it like 5-10 mins at most per ep and it looked just very all over the place. At least Hyunjin and Dongwook looked cute together and had great chemistry, but this is definitely a skip. The side couples were nice but aren't enough to keep you interested either.
Ilnam is very annoying. Irl without ghosts and stuff I would be so annoyed that my friend I'm trying to save (his grades, not his life) would take all my help for granted like that.
These type of slow-burn healing dramas don't often get high ratings so I guess they wanted to spice it up with…
I agree 100%. I kind of want a sad ending to spice things up a bit and make it more memorable, but I don't think they will? They're playing it too safe with the MC. It's so boring tbh, I only watch it because I love Seo Hyunjin and Kim Dongwook was great in FMIYM.
I'm watching episode 2 but I'm finding it really hard to finish, but just have a feeling that is going to be so…
If you're okay with dropping dramas I highly recommend you to pass on this one. It's weird to get through, the murder plot isn't the main thing at all, it gets like 5-8 mins at most per ep. Most of it is just the lead couple doing things and side characters existing around them. There's not much to look forward to, it's pretty slow and the switch between the fluffy romance vs murder plot feels anticlimatic and out of place. There are better dramas out there to spend your time watching.
Just why in the world would they make Jaeeon in ep9 show his true colors and how he was never serious about Nabi, how he was absolutely shitty towards Dohyeok, how he asked her out just because he wanted to "win" over Dohyeok, make him yell at her, twist her wrist, actually harass her, sl*t shame her for being in a fwb with him, mock Dohyeok and so much more, AND she even threw him off her life, just for this crappy, mediocre and incredibly dangerous ending? This isn't even about which ship won at the end or shipping anymore at all, it's about an awfully dangerous message that this drama sends. They're saying "it doesn't matter if they guy you like is toxic, a potential abuser and player, and if you're gonna get hurt, just go for it because he has a nice d!ck!!" This is seriously such a huge waste of cast, potential, and everything. This drama could've been one of the best if they properly showed how NOT to act in a toxic relationship, but at the end of the day all they did was literally glorify an abuser and cheater. Like someone else said, the writers were progressive enough to write about same sex relationships, friends with benefits, open relationship, but were unable to give the leads a proper ending? If the writers of Love Alarm couldn't make Sunoh end up with Jojo even though Sunoh was a thousand times a better option than Jaeeon, why would Nevertheless writers do something like this, and why would the webtoon creator even allow this, AND why would Song Kang and Sohee do this too? From the interviews, they looked like they didn't approve of Jaeeon (as they should) and kept rooting for Nabi to snap out of it. Honestly, this is all so disappointing. Someone should cut out all Soljiwan's scenes for anyone interested in the Girl Love plot without having to go through the painful experience of this drama.
I think GO's biggest struggle comes from the fact that he still doesn't fully trust YH. Even though they have…
I also can't entirely convince myself yet that YH ordered her death, and I don't really think he would do that to GO knowing how important she was for him. It's just a theory that runs around in my head and it would be interesting as a spin-off, but for the real drama, I think everyone would definitely hate such outcome. I've also thought about MJH being a mastermind in part of the whole mess, (not like THE mastermind though) mostly because he's very annoying and the real enemy in GO's life. But giving him so much importance in the last 2 eps would be kind of annoying since they've forgotten about the character for half of the drama, imo. GO is indeed very emotionally immature and naive, believing everything everyone tells him without indeed fact-checking it. I definitely loved OJJ in these two eps, I never thought she was going to be the dumb girl used left and right by the bad guys because she always seemed to have more conscience and brains than GO himself. I also don't like how many viewers portray JSA as a feminist queen or a female icon, when she's very corrupt and evil herself. Regardless of her upbringing and childhood struggles, she still chose to oppress the poor even though she was one once, and side with the rich for her own convenience. I've got to say Kim Min Jung's acting is amazing and her portrayal of such character is very unique. Lastly and honestly, for a while now I've been thinking that YH's ending will be a sacrificed death protecting either Elijah or GO (or both), right after the bad guys have lost for good.
I think GO's biggest struggle comes from the fact that he still doesn't fully trust YH. Even though they have been through many things together and GO has witnessed YH's weakness a lot like no one ever has, they know and understand each other like no one else, there's still something that makes him doubt YH. Tbh, what MJH said could in fact make you confused. What if YH did kill his brother? There's still no evidence that he didn't other than YH's own testimony, and even then, he said himself "as expected, this is the type of stories people like" when he told GO his side of what happened at the church fire (after all, the only apparent witness that we have is that Joseph guy that we still don't know what he knew, and will finally know next week). Don't get me wrong, I do love YH and I have supported his every decision and ruling (maybe I'm a bit insane myself, but I would've voted yes for every indictment), but that phrase is still in the back of my mind. What if that's not actually true? What if YH came up with a sob story because he somehow needed GO on his side and knew he could get GO to work with him with a sob story? That still wouldn't explain the fact that YH has indeed weaknesses, insecurities even, and GO is the one who has seen them the most vividly. But what if it is true? What if the pain YH feels is in fact out of guilt, and not mourning?
YH also kept telling his secretary that SH was an obstacle for GO to be completely on YH's side and that they (YH & co.) needed her gone for GO to come to their side completely. What if (and that would terrify me) YH did send someone to kill SH as MJH implied? That would be the biggest twist of events and would definitely live up to the name of "The 'Devil' Judge." What if YH has been doing all that because of pure selfishness and own greed, to later become the president himself with major public support, after taking out all the possible opposing party? What if he isn't the antihero we all want him to be, and instead he's a villain himself? After all, YH isn't a poor guy turned rich who would have a profound attachment to disfavoured people or empathy for them (we also apparently know YH was a bit of a psycho when he was a child, although misunderstood). He's seeking revenge (apparently, again) against the people that killed his brother and wanted to profit off his death. He could still be acting out of his own desire for revenge and power. Certainly, so many people would hate it (probably me included, at some extent), but that would be a very interesting plot twist, which would work greatly against the idea that all main characters need to be good and work towards common justice and everyone's well-being.
Still, I don't think this is the turn the drama will take (generally because scriptwriters are widely afraid of making main characters bad guys), and it's more likely that MJH is just a miswritten character that hates YH just because of his ways to claim justice. I don't think MJH is plotting together with the ruling party and all the corrupt dudes either, he doesn't seem to have that much importance, imo. But I'm really curious about what will happen in the remaining 2 eps and how it will unfold (and why GO attacks YH anyway?).
On SH's death. I definitely think it was unnecessary. She didn't die protecting GO, she didn't die in combat, she didn't die after being held hostage for whatever reason, she didn't die (not that we know yet) as a way to torture GO, she didn't die en lieu of GO, or anything. Eps 13 and 14 did not give us any reason as to why she had to suddenly die like that. They literally introduced her in the last minutes of the ep and killed her off. Her death doesn't deserve any purpose, because it's not like that's becoming GO's driving force to go completely crazy against the bad guys. So what exactly did she die for? I'm not saying every death needs to have a purpose, but she was the main lead's sole family, friend and love interest. Her entire existence was literally just an accessory of him, we never even got to know anything about her family, the 3 childhood scenes with her are all with and for GO, her dream of becoming a cop was for GO, she ditched her cases to help GO, etc. At least at the beginning of the show she was chasing after random criminals like any other police officer, but from the middle of the show until now, all she did was around GO and related to him. It's kind of annoying how they were very obvious about her role in the show: the main lead's love interest. That's it. They confessed, kissed, hugged, she served her purpose and died. That's why the only way her death would not be unfair and out of poor writing is if YH himself sent someone to kill her (though if he didn't approve of her, he wouldn't have called her to save GO at the riot earlier), but I still don't really think they're going to that route. Maybe (and hopefully) they'll come up with a reason as to why she had to die such a lame death.
On another note, the electric chair scene was terrible. I've watched a bit too many movies with electric chairs and as far as I know, they missed a couple of stuff: the bowl with cold water under his feet (to let electricity better flow through the body at the contact of water), the sponge in the mouth (because teeth grind while a person is being electrocuted), the black bag on top of his head (because it's terrifying to look at, I think) and the metal helmet (to flow electricity directly in the brain, I think again). Instead, he was just shaking there while making deep eye contact with YH. It was kind of underwhelming.
All in all, I'm just hoping YH isn't the manipulative psychopath MJH wants GO to believe he is, and instead is just an actual misunderstood character (not like PJE) who is a tiny bit too twisted, but who seeks justice for the underprivileged against the corrupt.
The romance was cute and it was okay overall, but it dragged on a bit towards the end with filling scenes that were kinda boring for me. It was still pretty fun to watch and most of it was very cute.
