I loved your future storyline as I like there to be a happy ending and this couple who were forced to put everyone…
Btw, WC is acting in another period drama. Seems like he's up for another challenge, this time with Song Yi in Splendid Paintings. It's a biographical drama about painting embroidery. Song Yi plays a character that is well-known in history, Ming Dynasty. This time round, he's gentle and elegant, the weakly scholar type. I am ROFL thinking about it, just coming off NPE.
At first, I felt devastated to watch the ending. But then, I realized some points from this drama, that's not…
yes this bai xi thing,.... is just using fate and weaving it into the storyline. Honestly even w/out the darn bai xi, would HS and FJM abandon the baby? HS considers herself the baby's aunt and she was rather close with Ti Lan. So even if they are not related by blood, they are by association. And in a way, though Di Xu is the Emperor, he is her hubby's bestie. She would never abandon the baby, and neither would FJM. So the bai xi was really thrown in for good measure to up the angst. AND as PeachBlossomGoddess said, the Directors and the Scriptwriter are women - they prolly just wanted to put HS on the throne as part of a statement about gender, so happens this was also the case with the novel, so all the more reason to follow the story itself.

actually all they need is a mere mention, in the conversation btwn HS and the CP... something like, are you bringing your brother/sister with you to visit the Grand Mentor? settled!
It's ironical, he wanted FJM to have the freedom, he mentioned to TL that btwn the two of them, one ought to have the freedom. But in the end, he is the one that uses it and the other gets duty-bound.
which part is not logical? the weak lungs? the size of the baby? out with it. LOL
u r so funny, you actually brought up the APGAR score! The directors prolly just looked for the tiniest baby that some mother was willing to offer for filming. There's no way they would locate a premie for this purpose. This is when we should suspend our disbelief and just go with whatever they are telling us.
I think they did have a son cause there's a little crown prince in the cast and also Chu wei yun (who should be…
I dont think so. I think the words young in brackets suggest that this was one of the princes, who was shown with Di Xu when they were young and playing together...

logically, Di Xu's kid has been born, and HS' belly wasn't even showing anything yet when she ascended the throne. So, Di Xu's kid is definitely the eldest prince. As to whether they trolled us or it was poor writing on their part? Did the eldest son mean there is a second child - well, we believe what we want to. But linguistics suggest that when one states an eldest child, then there must be another child.

oh really? I can imagine how difficult it must be for someone so jovial to take on such a depressing role. I would like to see what he's like in contemporary drama, just to get a feel of his acting, w/out having to look stone-faced.

Actually HS wanted to grow old together and FJM wanted whatever she wanted to make her happy. But we know for a fact that with time, this happy ever after believe is not really possible. Unless the kingdom really enjoys peace and prosperity throughout their lifetime... they could never lead a peaceful life if anything were to happen to the country. The guilt of not doing anything when they know what's going on would eat at them, and eventually they would be both utterly unhappy. So, i would say this is the decision that gives them the peace of mind, and a step away from guilt. Happiness? Well, that's entirely their mindset.

how we define happiness in the ending of a drama is really a reflection of how we see the world. Therefore, there are mixed comments in this thread. So, is happiness for the two characters cast in stone or does it change with time?
Similarly, what does happiness mean for HS and FJM? It's true that they fantasised about their lives in a different time and place, and it meant giving up their dreams. But they are both resilient beings and their sense of duty towards the country is so strong that eventually, I think whatever disappointment they harbour will mellow with time. Eventually it will be replaced by a different sense of well-being and happiness; they have a child together, they are not truly deprived from seeing each other, and they are doing what they are good at.

So, the measure of happiness is theirs or ours?
