as much as im loving the progression so far, i have a feeling this show is going to gaslight us and its all just going to be a bromance. i hope im wrong because the latest episode is a little bit more on the frustrating side.
beautiful first episode! I have a feeling its gonna be one of the better Japanese BLs this year. This is the epitome of the perfect apanese robotic awkward over (or under?) acting!
I hope they can keep it up.
I really have to commend the show because so many things happened in 23 minutes. I know a lot of shows with almost an hour run time but with almost no story development.
This drama was probably my most anticipated one. I was soo hyped for it. Then i watched EP 1 and..i liked it a…
Hi! This thing with the cut and uncut versions mostly from Thai shows are really frustrating because ive seen a lot of times that the uncut version is not really that different from the cut version (sometimes there are just 2 or 3 scenes added thats not even more than 5 minutes). i think these production companies release 2 versions to try to make people watch the same episode twice (or more in an effort to find the difference). for me whatever is available at the moment, thats the version o watch i dont even try anymore to check if its cut or uncut version.
To be honest, if the cast isnt this cute, i wouldnt even be able to complete this season. Thomas makes my knees weak and the moment i saw him in this series i had no other choice but to continue watching. ill tell you one secret though - no mater how much i love the cast, I cant even finish the second episode of the second season - i just got so bored.
I know a lot of people dont like the first 2 episodes (that includes me) but to be fair the show did find its footing and episodes 3 - 6 are better, quite enoyable and i must say i find myself liking it now. The story progression is a little slow although were just on the middle. I think binge watching it would be a much better experience.
and here I was totally loving it. i loved the ending as a standalone topic. we could say it's a prominent topic…
wow its been a while when inl posted this review im glad to hear from people still watching tthe series now. please keep in mind that this reply is base don what little i can remember about the 2 series.
For me if this wasnt the continuation of Duty School part 1. it could have worked. The problem is the 2 shows are very different tonally from each other -. the first part was packaged as an apocalyptic scify event with lots of monsters and it was building into a.finale thats going to be monsters vs humans and then the second part at the beginning was hinting at the continuation of the first part only to become a post-war psychological drama. i oep waiting for that big finale monster battle that never happened
Some are saying this was how the book is so what can we really do. Maybe if they didnt cut it into 2 parts and just released everything all together it would lessen my pain. i am glad though that the show still has a solid following and still able to get a fairly high rating.
hello my friend. i think you ranked this a little bit high, is it because its a korean project as opposed to Thai?…
Hi! If i may think about it, I think i ranked this higher because i find this to be much more enoyable than the other series. The other series you mentioned has a much grander scale and higher production value but in trying to do so many things they ended up with so many frustrating things to the point that it felt like im being forced to sit down to watch it. This one although much smaller, lighter and "shallower" doesnt have that effect instead i found myself looking forward to their next episodes.
wow thanks for that reply. Im not disagreeing with your points and like you when i watched the original show i…
Hi again.
Like i said in my review that there was a bit of backlash even in the original series when it was revealed that the killer is transperson. Even i felt that the original didnt handle the reveal properly. At first i was even hesitant to see this series because of the sensitive topic. I only gave it a try because im a fan of both Go Hyun Jung and JDY.
Thats also why im saying that this korean remake is better than the original and handled the topic far better. For me this version opened up the topic that gender dysphoria is real and a lot of people actually experience it. It wasnt mentioned that the copycat killer re-invented herself to be a woman to kill easily.
Yes the copycat killer idolized the Mantis and fashioned herself to be like her and to continue the mantis' work and yes maybe aybe at one point she did think its easier to kil when one is woman. But for me when the nurse said she heard the copycat killer say "its such an advantage that society doesnt see women as threats" implied that it was an unexpected result that she (and the mantis) was able to get away with the numerous murder because nobody is expecting a woman to be a threat.
The copycat became a woman because of the gender dysphoria but she became a killer because of the mantis. The question is would it have been better if the copycat was of different gender? Perhaps maybe.
did we even watch the same ep like yalll.... are yall having some collective dementia about ep 6 maybe? like there…
wow thanks for that reply. Im not disagreeing with your points and like you when i watched the original show i was appalled by the idea that they made the villain a transperson. I do however think that this series handled the issue far better than the original. It doesnt feel like they are generalizing the whole trans community - in fact they spent a far considerable amount of time (again compared to the original) to explain what happened to the copycat killer and distinguished that she is different from other trans people. They were sensitive eough to explain how the copycats' trauma has led her to become the killer.
When the nurse said the copycat was different because she was mutttering "its such an advantage that society doesnt see women as threats" it is also implied that the copycat didnt transition to hide the crime but it is was an unintended benefit of being a woman because whether we agree or not society does see women as lesser threat that men.
Looks like many people say it's boring, and they're dragging the competition for too long even tho it's only 2…
i beg to disagree a little. i love the cooking part, but they could have come up with another story arc after the ming envoys because it really felt like it dragged these past 3 episodes - i think the problem is because the first four episodes were very good that we expected way too much. I also think that no one from the ming side (aside from the main chef) is interesting at all, and to cut todays competition with a cliffhanger is just a little too rude when normally kdramas put their big cliffhangers in the odd episode and solve it in the even episode so people wont have to suffer for 6 days waiting.
What about Buried Hearts? I really enjoyed that show and i know that show isnt perfect but it at least showed PHS's range as an actor - he was pretty good in it. He is almost a side character here only showing a few times in the entire series.
Cinematography feels weird, looks like it was shot on a phone. Not a good first impression.
I hope they can keep it up.

You know what i th ink you are right, i would probably eat my words and re-watch it :)
