Hey! Any of the oldies still hanging around here? 😁 just checking in and wondering what you guys are watching…
Still can’t get over LBFAD. I actually started watching the clips across different iQiyi channels on YT and almost watched all the BTS between Esther Yu and Dylan Wang. 🤣 How can we move on when even hearing the OST is enough to bring you into a tailspin again.

Yeah, kinda disappointed they didn't release all 36 ep. Maybe cuz iQiyi still hasn't finish airing for non-VIPs…
IQiyi VIP supremacy. XD but ye I want it also to be completed on Netflix more people can appreciate LBFAD.

I can't believe I ignored watching this because I was so mad at LLTG and the disappointment it turned out to be.....hopefully…
The advantage of LBFAD is it’s shorter, so you don’t have to suffer waiting for so long only to have sad ending.

18 episodes in, I give up! FL is an actual moron. I tried to look past it, because the beginning was interesting…
The word moron is a bit harsh for Xiaolanhua’s character. Childish maybe, but we do have to take into consideration that 1) this is a fantasy drama hence the fantastical elements/magic/deities, 2) in this universe Xiaolanhua is a YOUNG & weak fairy 1500 y.o. To be exact compared to the others who are around 5000++ y.o. So she may have the maturity of a teenager, 3) I’m not sure if you got the clue in the 1ep that only the Goddess of Xishan of the 3 realms (orchid visuals) can suppress DFQC so Xiaolanhua still has some ā€œimmersionā€ in the 3 realms that she needs to do before she can ā€œmatureā€, and 4) the story is about Xiaolanhua AND DFQC so there is a great amount of the first part dedicated to prioritizing DFQC retrieving his emotions and dealing with his trauma before Xiaolanhua’s maturity or gaining her power back because in the end XLH’s is meant to be ā€œselflessā€ so she prioritizes helping DFQC in his tasks (ex. Fixing destiny book, dealing with his family issues, helping him get his emotions back) instead of dealing with her issues (ie. Getting stronger, knowing her origins, etc).

I’m curious to know which other Xianxia character is ā€œnot a moronā€.

PS. Personally I find Xiaolanhua’s character to be refreshing because: 1) she’s not your pick me girl/mary Sue (like Ren or Captain Marvel) who needs to be good in martial arts, be a genius strategist, know how to ride horses, be the strongest to make a difference in the world, 2) she’s an empowered female like Elle Woods, who didn’t need to lose their femininity to save the world, help people, and 3) she actually has a character arc which Esther Yu showed by having exaggerated cute gestures, high pitch voice, and fast speech in the first half showing her immaturity and gradually having a more reserved reactions, lower pitch, and more thought out dialogues as she learns not only about the heavenly realm, the moon tribe, but also the human world making the turtle god’s words true (that she wasn’t ready to know her true identity unless she experienced everything in all realms).

Grand Chancellor...Beating his wife in real life, and apologizing for being "rude"...https://youtu.be/Bhd7rV6P6ks
OMG! I watched the news before I saw this drama but I didn’t kneo they were the same person. I guess he’s such an a** IRL, too bad he can’t be like his character who clearly spoils his wife.

The issue of cultural inaccuracies vexes me. It reminds me of watching the movie Titanic. I spent the entire time…
We can’t really do anything about it because it’s part and parcel of being in a communist country. The CCP is more about fostering nationalistic ideas on their citizen so of course they have their censorship that 1) hate on any race that ā€œconqueredā€ them (ex. japan, korea, US), 2) ML should look more manly and no girly FL (BL dramas are heavily edited/censored to pass), 3) good guys must always be punished or turn good (ex. They changed the end of Fight club where the ML got caught, they changed the sub of Minions to say that Gru became a good guy), and many more.

If any Cproduction company tries to do the right thing, there’s a high chance that they will get black listed and their drama will not see the light of day. The countless finished dramas with no airing date is testament enough on how all encompassing CCPs powers are.

Nothing about this drama (from the characters, their titles, to the plot) is serious and logical. You have to…
Agree! I know Li Hongyi can act. So I’m not sure if it’s because of the script and/or his co-star, but I never felt the šŸ’Æ chemistry/passion that Qiu Yue had with Chan Hua. I guess the relationship with Xuan and Jinfeng is more like friends that were forced to wed.

Also 36 episodes is just too long! I know other drama in iQiyi which is only 16 eps but had more romance than this.

Maybe I just need time to settle in because I was really looking forward to this drama, but man the 1st episode…
Agree.

Why I think Dowager Empress has a crush on Liu Xie?šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
I think everyone and their mom have a crush on Liu Xie. I mean he’s the best male character in the show — he’s tough, smart, gruff on the outside but soft on the inside. He outshines the emperor šŸ’Æ times.

This drama is such a parodic tale that everytime I noticed its faults or was bothered about something, I would…
The Grand Chancellor was šŸ’Æ more interesting than the ML. He’s also more dashing and adorable in his own way — wish the story was about him and his wife.
On The Legendary Life of Queen Lau Sep 5, 2022
As much as I love Li Hongyi and Jackie Li is the perfect Jin Feng, this drama was such a waste and didn’t need to be 36 episodes. The Grand Chancellor is the BEST ANTI-HERO in Cdramaverse and a drama about his younger self will be more exciting than the life of Xuan. Also, Cdramaverse, chubby girls also deserve passionate, gut wrenching love stories so please stop using her physical appearance as comedic relief. Maybe they should read Julia Quinn’s book on Penelope or watch the Bridgerton show so they can have an idea on how to give the love that ā€œchubbyā€ girls also deserve.
On Dylan Wang Sep 4, 2022
Person Dylan Wang
I think LBFAD is Wang Hedi’s acting revelation. Most of the lined up dramas here don’t have photos yet so there’s still a chance he can still take on a sequel project for CanLanJue. Fingers crossed.

Omg! I’m so excited. The jealousy in Dylan’s eyes is hilarious. He’s totally DFQC haha. Do you know when…
I think Sept. 10. Not sure I don’t have access to Chinese variety shows outside YT.

I don’t speak Chinese but the clip highlights Esther and Dylan’s reactions so no need for translation. That way Dyln kept looking at Esther at the dance intro, when Zhang Binbin was talking Esther’s eyes strayed to Dylan like she’s checking her BFs reaction, Dylan looking like he’s barely containing his jealousy when Binbin was speaking, and lastly Dylan unleashed our DFQC and was so competitive — like he was wrestling Tai Sui (Vin Zhang).

Just saw someone say Esther Yu's portrayal of a cute girl in this drama is streotypical and pick me girl 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
If we based it on the international definition of ā€œpick meā€ girl, Esther is definitely the polar opposite of that! A pick me girl is more often applied to women who actively reject everything ā€œgirlyā€ or traditionally feminine as per Browndailyherald. Example would be Captain Marvel or Ren. So Esther is definitely opposite of that. In fact, I think Esther is like Elle Woods, the epitome of competent female without losing her femininity, kindness, and being kick ass without needing to know martial arts.
On Love between Fairy and Devil Sep 3, 2022
For the newfound Dylan and Esther shippers, I’d like to share this clip of Hello Sunday which is both awkward and super exciting for our ship: https://youtu.be/-CNljZlGBco

The premise, Esther is with Vin Zhang for their drama A Romance of the Little Forest which Esther filmed right after LBFAD. I’m happy to report that the chemistry between Esther and Dylan was not once in a blue moon. It’s still going strong and can even awaken our DFQC competitiveness like he’s fighting Tai Sui (Vin Zhang) IRL.

This drama reminds me of that quote:"A Hero will sacrifice his love to save the world but a Villain will sacrifice…
This quote is really popular but I’m trying to remember where it came from. I also encountered it with Love Better than Immortality because Qiu Yue can destroy the whole world if only to save Flower.

I know that TEL is not xianxia. But I compared the two because they are both unexpected hits that you’d think would be discriminated against because of simplistic plot/non Alist cast.
