I know that TEL is not xianxia. But I compared the two because they are both unexpected hits that you’d think would be discriminated against because of simplistic plot/non Alist cast.

Saw her vid too. She also like The Eternal Love (XZL and LJ) which was also one of the biggest surprise of their year. I guess AvenueX does give credit where it is due even if it’s an idol drama.

Me too! I’m just watching BTS vids of Esther and Dylan on YT. But why are there so few?? T.T I wish they had the same number of BTS vids as Li Hongyi and Zhao Lusi or Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie.

Not all Cdramas have great/sweet BTS. Only a select few OTP have great chemistry on and off screen. My top pairings:
1) Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie — they have 4 dramas together as testament to their great chemistry and they have the best kiss scene in all Cdrama world. There’s even a running joke that combine the 3 The Eternal Love seasons they have 1000 kiss scenes in total.
2) Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi — they have 2 dramas together and their chemistry is also great but the kiss scenes are not as mature as XZL and LJ.
3) Esther Yu and Dylan Wang — my newest discovery after seeing their BtS vids. They’re so perfect together offscreen so reminiscent of how Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi interacted before when they were rumored to be dating. But they can still improve their kiss scenes.

LBFAD healed me after the sh!tshow ending of AOS S1. Seriously the Chemistry and cuteness of Dylan and Esther can melt icebergs.

Yes! I love Esther’s voice! Because it’s uniquely hers and not the generic FL voice actress that they use for most period dramas.

But I think their ending is more realistic in their universe. In other fantasy drama they hint about the magical person turning human, but I think it’s more realistic in their universe for them to remain as is.

Wow. I only know that they invested in getting the best IPs in Yunteng Project, but to actually have their own studio — just wow. I’m also more partial to the dramas that iqiyi produce because they tend to be more light hearted and concise vs the other dramas.

Ooooh! This makes so much more sense. Thes immortals getting the prophecies wrong and causing themselves undue heartache.

TV Show vs Animation vs Novel - I know the Animation is heavily based on the Novel and went with having Xiao Lan Hua’s body originally destroyed so she merges with DFQC. But with the intro and ending I’ve read of the novel, personally I prefer the deviation in the TV Show because it only forced Xiao Lan Hua to help DFQC because of her sense of guilt/obligation but otherwise she’s free to move around and meet who she wanted rather than being locked inside DFQC body and fighting with him internally. I also found the ending or the main conflict in the show to be more epic vs the one in the novel.

LOL at the last part. That arbiter hall is possibly the one in Mount Xilan as it’s the last one DFQC built for her.

I heard this too. But I wonder if his power got unlocked even with the interruption? Hmm. Either way, Changheng’s character never did crave for the greatest power in the land. It’s always his older brother doing that. I’m just happy he can do what he wants in the end.

I’m not sure about your preference/stamina, but be forewarned most other Xianxia’s are ridiculously long (40-60eps). The only one I can tolerate for the length with satisfying chemistry to sustain my desire to watch all the episodes is Eternal Love of Dream. The other dramas are good for most but just so long for me. I recommend watching at 2X speed and skip the unnecessary side character scenes.

I really had to stop the temptation to watch ep 31-34 and wait for 35-36 to drop so I can watch the happy ending we all hoped for! This is possibly the best drama romance period of 2022! Lighthearted , but also delivers angst, and tears. Also probably the best work of Esther Yu and Dylan Wang so far! Never knew they could deliver the sad parts as well as they did!

IMHO Xi Yun/Lanhua still have her goddess power which she unlocked in the confrontation. Not sure about Dongfang’s passionate (red) fire because his original body got destroyed. But he might still have the capacity to relearned the basics and then hellfire.

OMG. You perfectly described how I felt watching Kiki’s performance here! I had high hopes for her that she will be the next breakthrough lead actress in the X9 group after Esther because of her work in Ruyi and Yunxi. But tough luck she got boring script and not so great chemistry with her ML. On the other end of the spectrum, Snow Kong was a revelation in her debut FL drama Sassy Beauty where she shined. I hope Kiki gets another chance as FL with great script.

Just finished the drama and I must say Wang Yu Zi and Wen Mo Yan’s chemistry was as great as ever! I’m just disappointed that they cut some key scenes from the manga [Yunji scene) which could have explained their plan better and didn’t make them as horrible as HelianChe. Anyway, I wish to see both of them in another period drama in the future. Fingers crossed.

This drama is based on a manwha of the same name and I think the screenwriter or producer cut key scenes which made the scene more relatable. In the manga, Yun Ji is a conniving wench and actually planned to “honey trap” Xuan’er by having him take aphrodisiac and slipping into his room so they’ll be caught in a compromising position. Xuan’er and Ling’er knew of Yunji’s plan so they switched Xuan’er with some random servant (in this case prine of Beimo) and Yunji did her thing thinking it was Xuan’er. Hence they were able to foil her plan

Bao Shang En looks familiar but I haven’t seen her previous works listed here. She reminds me of Han Groo but I’m sure I’ve seen her before.
