I've gone ahead and distilled the Defender's comments and the Critics and here is what I have. Maybe defenders can list their view here, so I can add it to the list.

Defenders Point of View - Why KTEM so Good

- performances from supporting cast such as Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, Jung Eun Chae, and Lee Jung Jin
- The romance is sweet
- Set design for the interior of the palace... I want Lee Gon's study.
- Shin jae arc is awesome
- The visuals, a lot of the scenes are really prettily built from costume design to lighting. (There is also a visual to go in the cons side such as confusing camera angles)
- It's LMH and KGE, two of the top stars in Korea
- The comment section here is reaching "Untamed status"
- I'm so confused about the story, but I love it
- Set design for the interior of the palace... I want Lee Gon's study.
- It gets better after episode 10
- It's trending on twitter, and international fans love it, trending in all countries
- ranking #16 of top 20 in global Netflix (no proof). Only Kdrama to rank that high
- Local ratings don't matter, netflix ratings is all that matters
- Look at how much PPL is selling, sold out everywhere!
- If you didn't like it, you probably were just confused, or not thinking too hard
- it's a thinking drama

Critics Point of View

- The romance/chemistry is non existent. The love happened too fast
- The show is mired in some controversies including the usage of korean and japanese imagery in regards to the temples and battleships which is confusing.
- The show is confusing.
- There are too many plot holes, too many characters introduced that make it confusing.
- The theories and science, much more the math of the show is inconsistent and changes several times throughout the drama
- There is too many contradictory scenes.
- The characters, other than the main leads, are poorly developed without much of a backstory
- Did not like how they handled the progression of the villain
- The supposed plot twist were too predictable
- They wasted a lot of the acting talents of it's staff
- There is excessive PPL to the point of distraction
- The editing is not the best, the CGI is also not the best considering how big their budget was
- Did not like LMH and KGE acting
- This is not the best way to portray parallel world nor time travel, it's been done better by other show and is more clear in other shows.
- Too much inconsistencies, and logical holes
- too much leap of logic
- too much cringy scenes and awful pick up lines
- the pacing is way too long, takes too long to get invested

I'm sure there are more for both sides, but these are just on the top of my head. If the defenders want to defend the drama, more power to them, but let's do it at a level that allows smart discussion complete with facts, theories, and logical exposition.

as of June 8, TKEM is #16 most streamed tv show on Netflix in the world for 2020, the only kdrama in the top 20,…
https://www.koreatechtoday.com/wavve-off-to-a-rocky-start/

I mean this is fun, let's just keep linking articles to prove out point :)

Wavve has 1 million subscribers, and not everyone is watching KTEM. It's a paid service. $6.80/month

How many households can access KTEM on FREE TV? Oh yeah 19,6M. Yet only 8% of that is viewing it.

http://www.casbaa.com/advertising/countries/south-korea

Like I said, I don't mind ignoring the rating for both local and international, and instead have an active discussion on the shows merits.

Let's discuss :)

70% increase vs only 40%. Seems like a flop for me.

I'm just kidding. People may joke about the obscene and distracting amount of PPL, but I must admit I am craving BBQ Chix and The Alley BBT.

But, this still doesn't meant he show is successful., but the PPL seems to be.

The way Tae-eul slowly (arguably) regresses from a supposedly empowered, skilled, and badass cop to Mary Jane…
" she's kind of on the fence about the writing and told me she watches it so I don't have to."

She's a true hero!

do you mind posting this link of where you are finding this info. Thanks

In other news, the ratings locally is still quite bad, and it hit lows during the first part.

The thing is, if you ignore local viewer ratings, you should also ignore international ratings, because they fall under the same ideology of judging a show base on ratings.

i just realized that prime minister koo told her mother to reply with 'mackerel' to the question 'what did you…
It was a pointless scene that did not add anything. Although I must admit that little bit of acting by the PM in that scene when she finds out her mom is dead, floored me.

It had more intensity than the previous scenes with KGE and LMH.

not all defenders of the drama are blind or just love the show because of the actors. some are pulled because…
There is nothing wrong with criticizing a Drama. Even dramas that are considered masterpieces have their own critics. And it goes both ways, positive comments may or may not convince someone to start watching the show.

Also, you can't ignore the majority of the commenters, because commenters in this sectionwork the same way Neilsen ratings work. It's a random sampling of the viewng population for this drama.

Let's talk facts, Neilsen in the USA tracks 40,000 homes or 100,000 viewers. The total viewing population of the US is 120 million households. As you can see it's a small percentage. But a lot of entertainment companies have been using these ratings to make business decisions ever since Neilsen has been introduced.

Now consider this comment section, this is a random sampling of all the people who are watching KTEM. Now it's up to you to interprety the viewing/comment data you see it. You can't discourage people to criticize a show, just as you can't discourage someone to love it. If you see mostly negative comments, and not much positive comments, maybe this says something about the show?

We have shows like Heirs, Big, Cheese in the trap and etc... which many peope considered absolute flops. look at their comments section, it looks exactly like KTEM. But you know what, those shows still have their fans, people still watched it, many loved it, but many also hated them.

If you love it and want to defend it, go for it, just keep in mind to have an active discussion, you can't just say, "you guys are all haters, this is the best show ever, and your not enjoying it cause you can't understand it" That's not really a strong argument. You want to argue it's good? Ok let's have an active discussion, go ahead and defend it's merits.

Also, it's quite contradictory to use wavve ratings, but not consider Neilsen ratings. .

Now on to the discussion about PPL's. The companies who actually fund these movies, and the companies who pay for the PPL do care about those local ratings. Feel free to go to any big company related to entertainment and tell them. "SIr, our local ratings are bad, BUT we're trending on twitter! Success!" and see what they say.

A couple of things you said about the show. Yes I know that LR is in ROK. Your argument that nobody recognize him on the street are in my opinion are weak arguments. Let me explain why, how many episodes have we seen LR just walking around the streets of Corea with nobody recognizing him. Plus add to the fact, he looks like he is 40, yet the general populace think he is 70. Plus when LR walks in the street in Corea, he never hides his face, how come no one has recognize him yet? So no one recognizing him in the street is not an indication that LR is in ROK.

And people have every right to be confused of where LR is. Why? let us think about the facts. The prior scene, LR had just threatened the PM Koo. Also, LR and the fake mom of LG are wearing black. Which means they are getting ready for the memorial mass which is held in Corea. So, it's not unfair that most people thought that LR was in Corea as opposed to Korea.

The illogical aspect of falling in love with an ID picture has been discussed so much here, so i'm not going to repeat mysef, feel free to scroll to older comments.

I think it's cool you think the KTEM love story is realistic and romantic. I personally get attached to realistic romances, and KTEM just didn't feel the least bit realistic to me. I could tell both KGE are acting. For me good acting, makes me forget these people are actors.

The story is not so complicated at all. There is only past and present. To restore the balance, Lee Gon must travel…
To be frank, the more you analyze the show, the more you will hate it. The more brain power you expend to understand the show, the more you will hate it.

If you just ignore all the sci fi stuff, all the romance stuff, and all the logic....

You will still hate it.

I'm on episode 8 and so far I'm enjoying this drama! I rarely see people praising it so I'm a bit confused hahaha
I'm just here for the comment section.

Not only is there more drama in here, but there is also more clarity. You'll understand the show better if you read the comments first.

Oh, and does anyone know WHY WOULD LR go out onto the street at that moment? I mean, clearly, for LG JY and SJ,…
According to some, when 1994 LR killed 2020 LR, he became a lot more stupid and crazy. So, instead of a calculating villain, he becomes the worst villain in Kdrama.

EP 16 will be coming up in a few days. And I know the one question on everyone's mind...

Will LG be successful in bringing a franchise of BBQ Olive Chicken to the Kingdom of Corea?

Let us know your thoughts process on this very important plot device!

List of Lee Rim's plans thus far and what they've amounted to.- Steal the manpashikjeok and overthrow his brother…
Let me add a few.

- The food scene in EP 15, I thought LR always had LG fake mom try the food first to make sure it's not poisoned. He waits 10 FULL SECONDS, before taking a bite himself.

- He just saw that he could not get the antidote to save LG fake mom, so he knows certain physics won't work during time stops. BUT he throws his sword away and grabs a gun. And not even a pistol, or a gun which can rapid fire. But a freaking hunting rifle, which needs to be cocked per shot. Obviously LG schooled him when they meet.

- takes 25 years to realize that his future self was correct.

- Captures TE and doesn't kill her, eventhough the past episode, he said he would, and later in that episode he says, he doesn't need her alive.

- keeps LG fake mom alive for 25 years, for what exactly? so she can surprise everyone that the queen is alive? LG would still be king, nothing would change.

all we know is this will have a happy ending.
I am seriously hoping the last scene is LR waking up in a feverish sweat...

It was all a dream, and LR is actually the King of Corea.

The End :)

I have only one question. Why you need to convince me that the show is bad?
I was writing a little piece on what I observe to be human nature. It's hard to be unbiased when we critique a show, whether positively or negatively.

In this context, I am talking about the posters in the comment section, it becomes difficult to discuss the show with people who absolutely love it, because when you point out flaws, they just call you a hater.

I personally do not like the show, how you feel about the show is entirely up to you. If your coming to the comments section to decide whether to watch the show or not, that is up to you.

It's established since episode 1 that the PM does pretty much all the work in running the country.

But final say for important things still rest on LG shoulders. And like the PM says, the citizens are happy and Corea is at peace. So he has time to do w/e he wants.
