>>Being in love makes you really vulnerable, and so it's easy to get hurt and to feel rejected by the other person, even if they're not actually trying to hurt or reject you.<< THIS. Can I have this tattooed on my forehead? Pretty much why I gave up on dating, istg! TT

If you watch j-doramas, and love slice-of-life, I'd highly HIGHLY rec Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte... ML and FL seem like the 20's version of the Home-Cha Main Couple. The girl is slightly full-of-herself (she's an instagram influencer), the boy does plenty of calling her out (he's pretty much like Chief Hong who's 'retired' from his main career)... themes of found-family, learning curve, there's a cute dog. The visuals are pretty good for a j-dorama (aka not a cheap production) cuz they had some RICH sponsors, lmao! 10 episodes of light-hearted and sweet fun. :D You can watch it legally on furritsubs's wordpress account! ^^
what are you guys watching while waiting?cuz I definitely need helpppppp
Catching up with Itaewon Class, parallel-watching One & Only and Forever n Ever (before they make the episodes locked and for vip), and debating to watch You are my Glory on not-so-legal platforms! xD
Officially declaring this comment section as my home now :)
the white and blue of MDL is very reminiscent of Gongjin anyway... join me Chingu, I'm camping here since week1 and verbal spamming everybody's comment thread :P :P
Disclaimer: I love Du Sik's character, so don't come for meI think Du Sik already has some flaws that people might've…
My first impressions of both HJ and DS,.... nah, i'm not dying to date either of them. They both are flawed to the bone, and I love watching them, and enjoying their journey as characters <3
It's not. The fact that it's a hit amongst all those Asian countries that have seaside/ beach villages predominantly, like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan speaks very strongly how well they have been able to catch the little nuances of such kind of a life, and seems to strike a chord with their watchers almost universally! :) Oh, and as a reference, it's placed highly but not topping in other non-island countries like India, Kuwait, and Pakistan.....

Okay, about the photo, what if HJ is DS's second-shot at love, with the photo being of his ex-wife and child...? Wouldn't that ultimately heal her relationship with her Dad (who she constantly blamed for 'forgetting her Mom' and 'marrying again').... It would be a nice parallel b/w Dad and DS. But then again, she came around already, with the parallel b/w herself and Juri, and her own Dad and Oh Yoon/Chun-Jae. Dunno... theories, lol! :P

100% with you on the DS's rejection post! I initially perceived the situation from HJ's shoes, so I felt her rage and humiliation, and all I could see was red. I went back and re-watched, keeping the genre in mind, keeping each of their individual characterization in mind, and re-calibrated my stand. Mr. Fixer definitely approached her with the purpose of 'fixing things', thinking 'oh, she probably needs this convo to get over her embarrassment and sourness' and it ended up back-firing pretty epic-ly. He definitely didn't go out there to brutally reject her, but it ended up being just that to HJ, lmaoooo! xD That said, DS is someone who's a keen-observer, but sometimes he gets ahead of himself, thinking he *knows better* what the other person needs. This is precisely his character fault that gets him splashed with water and chased away by Gamri Halmeoni in ep3. DS has a learning curve too. And like you said, HJ doesn't know what to make of the 'let's be friends instead' comment, because she doesn't KNOW how to be one (other than to Mi-Seon), hence with her pride, she only sees the rejection. Although, I think she was genuinely hurt on the beach ( you could see her tear-up a little) when DS pretended the kiss didn't happen, at the end of ep5. I really had my heart shatter into pieces.. rejection is never easy TT
The fact that Home-Cha is topping Netflix popularity charts in the predominantly island nations of Asia... is so Daebak! Says something about the cinematography and the realism of an otherwise fluffy little rom-com! <3 <3 <3
Okay, hear me out... there is a good chance DS thinks HJ's pissed at herself and also embarrassed at the situation, therefore acting sour around him in the coffee-shop now that she's clearly remembered the incident. His compulsive need to solve problems has him going to her clinic to likely make her forget what he has concluded as a 'drunk mistake' from HJ (esp. post the 'we're not socially compatible' remark). His effort to make 'things less awkward' is supposed to be the humorous part, specially since he thinks he's managed to placate HJ, but he's royally screwed it up even more. He's shown to be the selfless Mr. Fixer, so I doubt he did the friend-zoning for exclusively selfish intention and to be a jerk to her. The fact that it back-fired (he thought all was cool between them till they met once again in the council meeting, and she kept being prickly and on edge) & ended up driving HJ even more up the wall, is also a part of the good humor, and not the angst! :")
I think she is in the stage of denial & her pride won't let her acknowledge that she's falling for him when he…
Most definitely! She's 'conservative' as claimed by Mi-Seon, sheltered in matters of love, and probably the first time (based on characterization) that she took lead with a guy? Combined with the fact that she's too prideful of her achievements and social standing, and the belief that 'i'm too good for him' (she's said this multiple times herself in various degrees of comic-relief)... is what hurts her pride, because at the end of the day, she's been rejected by an unemployed (but very talented) village-boy. Blinded by the humiliation of being rejected, she also lacks the perspective of concluding why Du-Shik might have tried to play the situation very casually at her clinic... she only sees her rejection. It wouldn't be a stretch to also imagine she's offended by Du-Shik not mentioning the kiss, when asked to.... because it came off as him thinking that moment was too trivial to even bring up, and not worth mentioning. It might have been a huge deal of HJ, and DS pretended it didn't even happen. She also was made fun of, the previous day for overthinking and misconstruing DS's nice-gestures as him trying to hit on her. She's a person who can overcomplicate things in her head... and in retrospect, she could have been pissed on that too. Let's say, it all just added up. And the fact is, DS did try to inject humor into his 'rejection', but the friend-zoning could have been delivered with a tad more tact and sensitivity, He was more brutal than a high-school teenager turning down a love-confession, lmao!!!! xD xD xD
I love both main leads and see where they're coming from, I acknowledge how their conflicts are necessary as they…
She's clearly a character who lacks such skills of careful deliberation. She took his words at face-value, took offense and proceeded to react the way she did....
I think she's behaving the way she is, is because she is embarassed and confused lol. I'd want to avoid a person…
She's a casual snob (about the wine-thing) which was done harmlessly, but she was one-upped right then and there, so it was all fun and comic. She tried belittling him about the education thingy, but got one-upped once again when she found out he went to SNU (a better college than her).... But the 'i know nosiness is an incurable disease, but i'd appreciate less of your concern' is insulting to his general caring and involved attitude with people around him... and I wish she learns to express her displeasure and discomfort without being snide and caustic. But it's all a part of her prickliness that Gongjin, and DS will eventually tame her out of! :D Other than that, I think ep6 just had her avoiding him in general and being moody. I too can't remember more of her hurtful comments lol! Edit: Oops, there was also a 'I don't make friends with just anyone' that came off as a tad condescending. Okay, she's a multiple-offender xD
Ps. there is a kid singing this on youtube on a variety show, and the judges have Park Bo Young on the panel, who's still cuter than the kid!!! Hahahah! xD
