Legally it isn't statutory rape in the context of the show. Thailand age of consent is 15, Non is in Mathayom 5 judging by the signs beside the classrooms, which is 11th Grade and so he is almost def 16. So while Keng is still a pos, legally it's not statutory rape.
Just say you donโt understand what a victim is lol
'The parent's were hurt, were shocked and terrified of what Non did, still they judged him.' Right, judged him for what ~he did~, making him the one in the wrong.
But in that moment, he could have hurt them more, and opened their eyes to what would be a worse reality of the violation of the son they were mistreating, by telling them what was done to him (according to those who reckon he was raped/taken advantage of) but he didn't (because he slept with Keng consensually imo).
In all of his moments of distress, Non never brings up Keng, not even in his morbid imaginings of hurting all those who wronged him. I think the show pretty clearly laid that topic out, but people will take it how they take it.
Just say you donโt understand what a victim is lol
If you look at it that way, it would technically hurt his parents more to admit he'd been taken advantage of to get money after the horse account thing while they're throwing judgement at him. To shock them, to guilt them, to make them feel terrible about how they'd been treating him. So I can't agree with that point personally.
The bl line is Peng and Chess, not Sky? So if yes..it that have possible for the third person is Sky will go to…
I found the introduction closing shot interesting when wondering about who's hooking up/cheating on/ending up/staying with who. If there is a third person in the BL storyline, I have my theory on who it might be.
Just when I was thinking 'at least Taurus seems better than Anan and mini Anan (Xena)', we find out that Taurus is a recovering alcohol prone to child abuse and sexual assault. Womanizing and being promiscuous are very different than what Taurus is, he is on par with being trash and a criminal. I like Jane though, she's got a bit of a stick up her butt but otherwise she's alright when compared to the other characters here. I also like Uma, very logical and practical character, a lot of self control. Nu is all over the place, but at least he admitted he shouldn't give advice because he's a bit of a mess himself, despite seemingly having his shit together. I don't think any of these couples/pairings are good so far, except maybe Sky and Messa. They could legit make it work.
Still a great watch and great acting! Maxiiin! <3333333
I didn't want to get into this, but here's my thoughts of the issue of Non, Keng and whether it was rape.
There is a different between the law and reality. Example: You can be defending yourself in a violent situation where someone is attacking, but if investigators find that you used a little too much force or did something that was considered more offense than defense, you may still face jail time or charges. Likewise, you can be an adult and sleep with a 16/17 year old consensually, but in the eyes of most world laws, it's wrong.
Surely people can understand that these two circumstances are NOT mutually exclusive. Plenty of teens sleep with older people consensually everyday, ongoing, and plenty of people are against it but also plenty of people accept it in cases where it's not physically forced or under duress. The law considers it wrong (rightfully so) and the adult should know better than to sleep with anyone under 18, even if they consent, but that does NOT mean the same thing as a being a victim.
This argument here has been going on over and over and over and it's so dragged out now. I mean, even the way it was filmed didn't imply that Non was doing anything against his will. But everyone trying so hard to be PC is talking about grooming and statutory rape while ignoring; 1. Non was getting close to Keng even before choosing to accept money from him. Keng seemed interested in Non before he knew Non had any issues. 2. Keng did not try to isolate or worsen Non's vulnerable state, he just straight up offered to help him and he straight up came on to Non, there was no gradual process, no desensitization to touch, he came on to Non very directly. 3. Their physical relationship happened very quickly, and their actual interactions prior was limited. They barely knew each other if the timeline is to be taken into consideration. 4. Non did not once show any signs of being under duress or even hesitant to touch or be touched by Keng before, during and even after they slept together. 5. Non lied quite easily about it to Phi. There didn't seem to be any guilt and certainly no duress and no attempts to keep anything a secret thereafter. He even went straight to Keng after he 'lost everything'. 6. Phi was not surprised or hesitant to accuse Non of sleeping with an older man, even a teacher, and he implied blatantly in the series that Non had a history of sleeping around. 7. Non continued to show no signs of hesitation to be around Keng after the so called 'sex for money', in fact he turned to Keng for comfort. 8. When Non is arguing with his parents after the vid is exposed he mentions 'sleeping with a man'. In that moment, if he'd been raped or taken advantage of, his choice of words would have been very different when facing his parents, had he been struggling with the aftermath of being taken advantage of. 9. Non once again doesn't even so much as mention Keng as something he had to suffer through when he's attacking the group at the cabin. He mentions almost going to jail, crying and broken, but says NOTHING about being taken advantage advantage of in order to get the money to pay the debt Tee got him in to. 10. In all of his moments of distress [update: including in ep 11], Non never brings up Keng, not even in his morbid imaginings of hurting all those who wronged him.
I could go on, because there are other points that are filmed in a way that do not paint the Non and Keng situation as being non consensual. Illegal, sure. Was Keng wrong, yes, very. Was Non raped? Not as far as I've seen in this show. Is Non a victim? Of Tee, Jin, Por, Fluke and Top. Absolutely. Is Non innocent? No, he's not. All of the characters in this show, with the exception of White (for now) are ALL f*cked up, even Non's parents!
I ship NONE of them. I also do not think it was okay for Keng to sleep with Non, he is trash, but do I think Keng is a rapist? I do not. Ya'll can fight me.
That said, I really think you guys are overthinking that scene. The video/sex scene between Non and Ken -and with Jin and Fluke discovering them- felt more like furthering the plot. It was to highlight more facets of immoral behaviour of the four characters involved in that scene. And I think it achieved it's purpose. We learned how trash Jin really is, how much of a pathetic , cowardly and sly bastard Fluke is. We learned that Keng is a pos who will sleep with a teen when he's supposed to be a good guy, and we learned that Non didn't do right by Phi, made poor choices and closed out the one person who really wanted to help him.
Just say you donโt understand what a victim is lol
"He was a victim of statutory rape." "Even if consent is given, it is LEGALLY invalid because he is a minor. This is not an opinion, it is a law."
Surely you can understand from your own words that these two are NOT mutually exclusive. Plenty of teens sleep with older people consensually everyday, ongoing and plenty of people are against it but also plenty of people accept it in cases where it's not physically forced or under duress. Firstly some VERY memorable moments in this ep!Jin: "I was the one who exposed Non. I was the one who took the…
You make a good point about it being too much of a coincidence. Then again, if he is a cop (minimum age is 18 to be a police officer) he might not be doing things with any authority's permission, OR even if he is just related to Keng somehow and he got involved with Tee to find out what happened to Keng, he's a computer engineer major and he may have been surveilling some or all of them. In that way, it may not be a stretch to think he's aware that something was going to happen at the cabin, even if he wasn't sure what it was exactly.
Then again, he could be totally something else xD I love it! Wild card!
This is what the script writers saidhttps://x.com/porchayhive/status/1761737904207114420?s=46&t=w1_gbLmT3E_SkqouqLYbYQBad…
This IS very good news! Thanks for sharing! I was worried I'd be disappointed by forced ships spoiling a great piece of work, but now I feel like this show might just become one of my fave of faves.
My thoughts and reading through all these threads....have me losing my mind at people in here. Everyone being…
I just want to comment my thoughts on this; [...now tell me why Jin is seeing Keng. That doesn't make any sense. He hurt Non with the video so why would he be seeing Keng?]
I thought Jin was dodge from episode one and I think he IS dangerous. That video thing he did was a big sign when he went from 0-100 over his crush sleeping with someone else and despite apologizing and confessing his 'regretfulness' fades fast. I wouldn't be surprised if he did run Keng's ass over.
This is quite ironic. Seeing the attitude of some fans here justifying and excusing the actions of a character…
LOL is this seriously happening??? It's 2024, who still confuses actors with characters and fiction with reality??? It shows my age admitting this, but it reminds me of back in the day when soap opera actors and wrestlers (also actors) used to get attacked and heckled by batshit fans for being villains and heels. But nowadays? I mean, really? REALLY? How even??
Firstly some VERY memorable moments in this ep!Jin: "I was the one who exposed Non. I was the one who took the…
YES, Phi could have spun that tale so conveniently putting ALL the blame on New just to get more trust from Jin. I really hope he's still on New's side. I liked Phi's character right up until the previous ep where he seemed to catch vague feels for Jin, I lost a bit of respect for him, but he seemed to get his sh*t together after that and I hope he still has it together. I mean, he was all emotionally confessing to Jin and then when Jin started to confess his tears disappeared and he was like 'well, f*ck, that was you? ...Okay, good to know, let's get out of here now bruh.' ๐
Agreed, White CANNOT just be a bystander. He's going to be another twist! Either a cop but possibly a relative or related to Keng somehow ๐ค
And, okay, that's why that one person in the comments wouldn't shaddap about THC and PhiJin like a broken record. Yeesh. I mean, 'main lead couple' doesn't necessarily mean they end up together, it just means they're non-platonically involved at some point or have some romantic history in the show, which, check, Phi and Jin have that, so now I hope that's done and revenge can be had! As for ships, do you mean you like the ship of NewFluke because of the actors? Or the characters?
Firstly some VERY memorable moments in this ep!Jin: "I was the one who exposed Non. I was the one who took the…
Yep, Phi's reaction to Jin's confession was really sus, and New's lack of reaction to being 'betrayed' was equally sus. I feel like Phi is definitely colder than he's pretending to be. Maybe he didn't know that Tan intended for anyone to die, suuure, because he did ask Tan is the drug could kill people beforehand, seemingly a bit concerned. BUT even after he realized the plan was going off the rails, CURIOUSLY he didn't deviate from the plan the whole way, even after Por ended up a shiskabab, except to 'confess' to Jin? SUSUSUS I have high hopes that Phi is still on New's side tbh
As for White, YES, I'm glad someone noticed all that about his actions. Those are the reasons I suddenly started wondering if he might be a cop! It also makes sense that the drugs he unknowingly took made him hallucinate those gross bumps on his skin, because maybe he feels guilty and dirty having to be sleeping with that trash bag Tee in order to uncover the truth!! And remember how extra scared he was of the gun originally?? And yet after he took it from Tee he put it in the waist of his shorts so chilled. Little slips like that could be 'hints'. If he is a cop, the second he gets his hands on an instrument for communication, I wouldn't be surprised if he calls it in. Maybe that would be his big reveal!
As for THC, I've seen that mentioned in the comments here, being some kind of shipping show? I dunno, I haven't bothered to check out what it is because I don't know any of these actors anyway. I don't actually care about any ships in this show either xD I'm here for the unfolding plot, hands down and def I am invested too!
But in that moment, he could have hurt them more, and opened their eyes to what would be a worse reality of the violation of the son they were mistreating, by telling them what was done to him (according to those who reckon he was raped/taken advantage of) but he didn't (because he slept with Keng consensually imo).
