Hmmm. Hesitant. Can't say I'm interested in a shock factor sex scene show, whether it's western or BL, not unless I'm looking for background noise while doing something else. Although, they don't seem to be trying to bury the lead on that at least 🤣 I guess we'll get what's on the tin. I'll put it down as a possible watch.
Got a late start on this because I couldn't find it initially. Just watched ep 01 so far. Great flow and editing, good vibes and great choices for the house guests. Right off the bat, in appearance order, I like Nio, Gino and Eri.
This was an incredible series! The story was so well put together. I only had 2 extremely small complaints. 1)…
Just my perspective, in case it sheds some light. Jom's character came across to me as being emotionally reserved and more sensually intense with intimacy than sexually heated or driven. I think it was one of the reasons I liked him so much, I feel he was quite mature to begin with, his interactions with Ohm at the beginning of the show certainly came across that way. And then in the past, at first he was cautious about Yai because he'd just had his heart broken and he was confused about everything, but then as he became more comfortable, he gradually eased into it and since he wasn't baby gay, he knew how to savour the moments he had with Yai, he knew how to appreciate their physical intimacy. It was quite a refreshing character detail.
I gave it 10/10 because despite the small discrepancies which appeared in realism and some minor production and plot stuff, this show OWNED. #fightme ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ Both main couples were fantastic, for sure, but shiiiiiiit, AiDi and Chen Yi are THE STANDARD. For me, the chemistry of Nat Chen and Louis Chiang hit very close to MaxTul levels of chemistry, which imo has remained unrivaled until now. If they had their own spin off, I think they might just make it. And of course I'd absolutely watch it. It was also nice to see Wayne Song, I liked him back in HIStory, haven't seen him since until now.
On a more neutral note. It's a little unrealistic tbh, considering the serious premise and that some of what happens in terms of the said premise feels far from serious enough, BUT, it's not horribly overplayed or poorly written, so in fact, it comes across well done and the acting and casting makes it worth it by a mile. It also has humor, which for me is always a bonus. Anyone considering watching, I'd recc this for sure. Loved it.
I only realised I had been watching the uncut version after the fact. So I came to rate this one as well since I've technically watched both. Finally had the time to complete it. This was quality viewing. Imo, this is the best Thai BL that has been made to date, and it outclasses a few other countries BL's too. It's fantastic across the board; casting, acting, story, production, character development/relationships, emotional depth and pacing. If the modern BL's could apply even HALF of what this BL did right to their productions, we'd see a turning point in BL's for the better.
Jom is especially outstanding as a MC, at least to me, because he was very mature and reasonable in his handling and executing of the issues he faced. Even when he got drunk and lost some control in the beginning, it was an emotional slip but he still wrangled for some control during the spin before the accident. And his character developed even further in maturity as the series went on. Every character and actor was pretty great though, really. I could go into detail, and if I have time I might review this series and do so, but for now, just need to say bravo.
And that ending? 🤌chef's kiss 🤌 As for the post credit scene, would I watch a s02 with Jom and Warrior era Khun Yai? Hell Yeah! Can I hear a Wahoo! ⊹⋛⋋( ՞ਊ ՞)⋌⋚⊹

I kinda wish I hadn't watched the trailer. It's so long and reveals so much, I ended up cutting the trailer off. I hope the show will still hold enough suspense.
Ep10: Just dropping in to say Jom is da bomb. What a fantastically mature MC. Nice change in a BL. I plan to finish this series by tomorrow for sure, squeezing it in whenever I have time.
Cool, cool! Which of the series you watched this year, would you say was excellent?
Moonlight Chicken was enjoyable enough, even though I don't like Mix, it was entertaining. I wouldn't say it was excellent imo, but it was enjoyable. I only watched it because someone recc'd it alongside Tale of Thousand Stars, which I watched first and boy, did I lament the waste of my time on that. It was so highly rated but was so ridiculously boring 😂 so I went into MC warily, wanted to see if it was as bad or worse and it was much better at least. I have never heard of Jack o Frost tbh, but I don't generally like Japanese BL's so that explains why I missed that. Although Bokura no Shokutaku wasn't bad.
BUT Step by Step was unpopular? Whaaaat? Why?? I really enjoyed it, actually. I didn't give it a ten, I gave it 9.5, because it could have been a little shorter and there was some unnecessary filler, but I really liked it.
As for Only Friends, I watched it because I was hoping for more interesting screen time from First, because I liked him in Not Me, but OF didn't really grab me. I didn't like any of the characters or couples and knowing they would end up together because of the 'pre established pairings' took any real suspense or interest out it for me. None of those couples should have ended up together imo. I don't mind messy, I can watch messy and noisy and love if it's gripping, but the outcome should not be so predictable, especially when the 'couples' don't make sense. I mean, I still don't even get why Top and Mew and Sand and Ray liked one another personality wise. Tbh, I personally rate The Luminous Solution higher than OF. I enjoyed it more.
There were a lot better quality ones this year though, that's very true.

Excellent? Well, do you mean Thai? If its Thai, then I'm pretty sure I Feel You Linger is gonna end up on my 10 list as soon as I finish it. Other than Thai, the The8thSense was excellent for me, and despite the trope and somewhat unrealistic aspects and context of Dear To Me from Taiwan, I am really enjoying the actual portrayal of the story and the characters (AiDi and ChenYi are the chefs kiss imo) , might make it to 10 on my rating system as well. What about your opinions on excellence this year?
With Stay by my Side, Dear to Me and this BL, Taiwan is nailing it recently. They've taken some pretty overused story lines and tropes, and made them fun and interesting with humor, great casts and fantastic ML chemistry. I am not disappointed so far.
Look. LOOK. I like ZeRui and ZongYi okay, but, BUT, I'm ngl, I'm here for AiDi and ChenYi. Their story line has been fun and chaotic and aesthetically they look fantastic together in their scenes. Also AiDi is just effing adorable. I'm not even mad about the last minute drama, I'm here to the end.
I ended up dropping this at 10 because the episode was underwhelming content wise, came back to see whether comments could convince me to go on, reading what's under the spoiler tags, to see if anything caught my interest, but nah. In the end the story lines just didn't hold up for me I guess.
Ep7: QUALITY YA'LL. Seriously. I'm loving this. I knew Jom wasn't baby gay and Yai was totally caught off guard by it. And when Jom started rapping I was dead cringe-laughing. Such a good, fun moment.
