This show is an entertaining human study in the differences, but still VERY prevalent, culture of shallowness and superficiality that exists world wideπ I mean, everyone in the house was automatically attracted to the two tallest members by default, and even the second tallest was most attracted to the tallest π π despite barely having had any interaction with him the whole time. And then the one with the most natural, unmade up, and least white skin, despite being cute and polite, playful and likable, was the most ignored of the batchπ Finally, two of the most image conscious guys end up with the two tallest guys π π π Not to mention the tallest guy ended up with the walking-filter who also happened to be the youngest one thereπ π I enjoyed it. This was so entertaining. Just like watching dating shows in any country, it's fun to see how basic most people really are when it comes to attraction. Good luck to Kim Chan Kyu! I will watch season 2.
I've only watched episode 1 and I already skipped many scenes. I've decided I will not be continuing this. Usually in the first episode I either choose someone I like or I'm neutral on everyone until I get more into the show. But after ep 1 I don't like anyone, not even the main pairing.
I don't understand why they didn't make him intersex. Would have been so much easier within the story and explained…
Agree that it is good. I personally like the pace. They gave Le time to fall for Amber separately from his memories of Wen-Wen, and as an adult too, which is far different from a childhood crush. But also, considering the sensitive topic, I think a rushed pace would have been blah.

I watched it on one of those unofficial upload sites, guess I got lucky with a better translation. The rating makes me wonder about how many people understood though. Or maybe it's just because I think it deserves a far better rating. It was a great series imo.

I'm surprised people didn't get that. Although in the translation I watched, he said 'I've always been male' and described it as a 'chromosome abnormality', not a disease, which made him being intersex quite obvious to me. This show was actually really good and well done imo.
Episode 4: squirmworthy....dropped.Sorry to all the fans, but this is just so bad.....Somebody should really take…
So much of the dialogue and acting (especially in the 'sexy/flirty' scenes in the first half) are VERY cringey. Rain in general I found very cringey. I'm on episode 10, kinda watching it in the background while doing other stuff at this point, (and yeah, the second half is a little better than the first, but barely) but I get why you dropped it. Too many tropes too, geez. Like, they need to ease up on those weak, unrealistic/creeper themes, it's not cute or appealing. In the first half I thought the spanking scene was bad, but then there was the episode where Rain says out aloud 'no one can f*** me but Payu' (or something along those lines). Ugh, secondhand embarrassment all the way. Essentially this show is like bad fanfiction imo. Sorry I vented under your comment, I just don't get the hype about it and 'squirmworthy' caught my attention xD
I agree, I don't think they will care either. I received a reply from the YT Youku channel after I commented there…
Haha! Yeah I was also thinking about that, last year's finale was painfully long. I can't imagine the person who thought this was a good idea, even most Chinese people will not be watching this on their small, small phone screens, but they can watch it normally on Youku cause they don't need subs. This is just very very bad form and pretty low of Youku to do this. It's sad really, the show was actually starting to gain international momentum, now many int. fans are walking away.
I just feel bad for the int. fans who actually do pay and watch it because they want to watch their faves. I'm just not that dedicated.
God dammit. Went to watch the episode and no subtitles on YT!I am not watching SDOC on a small phone screen where…
I agree, I don't think they will care either. I received a reply from the YT Youku channel after I commented there about the lack of subs on YT. Apparently they're working on a 'big-screen' function for the app. But I'm still gonna' say hard pass. This is a money grab for them and I don't want to buy in to it. They saw how many international fans were invested last season so decided to air a day late and no subs on YT to force international fans to download their app and pay more than YT costs just to watch it on time and with subs.
I don't know about other fans, maybe most of them will do it and squint at their phones for 3 hours or more every week, or maybe they'll make a big-screen function on the app or whatever, either way, I'm not down for that. I'll give it a miss. I like the show, I love the dancing, but there are shows I love a hundred times more and I wouldn't jump through hoops to watch them. So yeah, no.
As expected, Ryu Soo Yeol and K are starting to get along better. Considering it's not healthy to have DID, I imagine when people start to catch on either they'll go for the humor angle, where everyone is just okay with it, or Ryu Soo Yeol will catch some negative vibes and maybe start to conceal it better, especially if he becomes attached to K, he won't want to lose him. Alternatively, Ryu Soo Yeol will have some show down with whatever trauma caused the split and he'll 'merge' with K by the end.
Whatever happens though, I'm enjoying the show and the acting of the entire cast so far. The fighting and action scenes are fun, the case does seem to be escalating at a pretty good pace and I appreciate that the main characters are not invincible and are having a hard time. Fun.
Maybe it's because I don't actually know any of these actors that I have no expectations or anything for how much screen time they get, but I noticed some people don't seem to like the portrayal of the DID Ryu Soo Yeol is trying to deal with. I actually think he should be far more stressed out about his mental health, because not only is he experiencing a mental health disorder, but also his alter is extremely dangerous to him physically. But they're going for humor, which is quite fun to watch.
People should just manage their expectations, a realistic approach would actually be that Ryu Soo Yeol goes on meds to suppress his DID and then he leads a very stiff, no personality-like existence in order to deal with his disorder But as it stands I think the writers are going for an approach where Ryu Soo Yeol will (through trial, error and learning curves) learn to coexist with his other personality. Like, he wants him gone now, but he'll slowly change his mind or something as he starts to find more reward in doing 'good deeds' or something like that. It's a bit predictable, but the show is quite entertaining and the acting is good too, so hopefully it'll carry 12 eps.
Great ep. Very funny too. I need to know from someone who speaks/understands Korean though, is the translation of 'jerk' accurate, because I feel like there are so many other colourful curse words that one would be calling literal murderers π
It was pretty obvious the helmet dude was a second personality from the outset. Anyone who's watched Fight Club (who hasn't?) and saw that opening scene in ep1 should have picked up on that. The whole D.I.D thing has been done often enough in TV now that it wasn't exactly subtle. I was waiting for the primary personality to catch on with the fact that helmet dude was behaving supernaturally from his own perspective, hence could not be real, but he still needs time. lol.
I like the show though. No lag and no drag in the story. Fast paced action, funny scenes, good actors, good aesthetic. Keen for episode 3.
5 episodes watched. Can't see what people are complaining about. Show just seems to represent internalized denial, complicated relationships and immature/inexperienced behaviour and attitude towards how to communicate and express feelings. Pretty standard stuff, and it's not wrapped up in too much unrealistic fluff. 6 episodes are short for proper character growth, but so far I've enjoyed it. Not a bad watch.
I swear, if Liu Ran doesn't turn out to be some hella plot twist evil villain in the end, then she is the most redundant character I have had the displeasure of watching in ages. The one scene where it went from a hostage/violence scene to a valentine's day awkward moment in the next scene had my eyes rolling back into my head.
Even the scene where GBZ randomly popped up and gave Yue a lantern was out of place, but not so badly because the scene was still quite serious and somber in its own way. Every scene with Liu Ran makes no sense so far, unless they've buried the lead really well, which, I hope so. Otherwise, yeesh, her character needs to be fridged asap.

P.S: I, too, am shallow. π
