Same here. I enjoyed the romantic scenes but it felt that they edited out some important ones that revealed Hanye's thought process.

I am also a Reba fan. She does her best in everything but there's only so much our girl, Gong Jun and LYN can do with the kind of crew and production team they got.

I’m wondering if death is his end game. He knows he’s dying so he will do all his can to support Anle. Even if it means losing Anle to Hanye, his first priority s always her.

Ep 21 - Filler episode today…there’s definitely some cut scenes since I feel that we missed watching Hanye’s thought process before he decided to carry on with the charade.

I did appreciate the sweet moments between our couple but no progress at all.

Not flagging the rest as a spoiler since they are just my guesses but I’m wondering if the show is giving itself an easy out for 2 subplots.

1) Love triangle won’t get nasty because LMX’s health appears to be worsening. So he will die in the end supporting Anle or he will retreat to solitude with Linlang.

2) Emperor’s health also worsening so he will die soon after he admits to the crimes of the Han”s family. Making easier for everyone to move on. Empress dowager will go into nunhood for the rest of her life as penance.
