The villains think too predictably when it comes to anticipating the reactions of DZY, HY and LMX. They dropped the token of the Emperor during the assassination wanting DZY to blame the Emperor. Luckily Hanye was there but I think DZY and LMX would have figured it out even if Hanye’s was not there to point out the obvious.
Ep 29 - wow Hanye finally lost his cool! It’s a good thing we switched director and scriptwriter- the pace has definitely picked up. I wonder how they are going to resolve Hanye’s problem in one episode?
Totally enjoying this quirky show! The mother-daughter dynamics are entertaining and the side characters like the grandmothers and Mi Gong add flavor. I almost don't want any romance as a distraction but Jin Hee and Jae Woo just make me root for them ending up together!
Ep 28...Gotta say Reba and Gong Jun looked gorgeous. I mean they always do but in this episode, the way they stared at each other, they just took my breath away.
Oh, the angst...I felt every stab that Hanye suffered...from seeing DZY with LMX, the guilt trips inflicted by LMX, from not being able to be with DZY...he lost his confidante...Gong Jun, I applaud your acting.
Seems like LMX wants more....I wonder if he has another mastermind behind him, driving him to demand DZY to seek the extreme.
I guess I have another villain to detest....Mo Bei. I cannot believe that Anning trusts him that much. I really dislike how they portrayed Anning...I was expecting so much from what the novel readers said but she has been a such a disappointing character.
Of course we still got to see DCE and MQ...why am I not surprised?!
Yes, there was a definite change of pace from ep 24 and 25 into ep 26. I agree about the "battle" between the…
So true - Di Sheng Tian's character definitely seemed more watered down. I figured the empress dowager had more layers to her in the novel as well. In the show, she came across as a petty jealous wife who later turned it around to be all about her son. That whole arc felt flat to me.
Man, ep 27 was beautiful emotionally...the cast did so well with their acting and facial expressions. I truly felt Lin Lang's pain through her dancing, with the flashback scenes weaved through. 😢 Hanye is stepping up as the Crown Prince in these recent episodes, and I hope we get to see more of that.
Ep 26 was a little disappointing - the battle of the matriarchs (Empress Dowager and Di Sheng Tian) was meh...Wow, the empress did not back down even toward the end...she felt totally justified in what she did. The emperor too, was super annoying, and I guess will continue to be in the coming episodes.
The director still managed to get in scenes of DCE and MQ - it was quite soap opera-ish with the background music. It felt like it could be the last time we see them but who knows...
Preview of ep 28 promises some angst in the romance area...I am so looking forward to the trio having to deal with their feelings!

DCE keeps popping up so I think she will still be used by someone and poor MQ would probably sacrifice his life for her 😢
