A comment I posted to someone else: ‘ It’s very good, however, I noticed that short length dramas hardly reach…
You’re right. I had finished another one which I thought deserved at least an 8.5 considering the good acting and execution. However it dropped from 7.8 to 7.5. It’s too bad that people don’t rate based on the category or even culture. I noticed that Thai and Japanese and Filipino dramas are not rated as well as the Korean and Chinese ones. Hopefully this stays above 7.
The qilin wood box she gave to the FL is a sincere gift or not I have some doubts. Or is she really wanting to…
I feel that it was sincere but she cannot help but go against the King because she doesn't know what truly happened. I wish the leads were honest with her, but at the same time how can they because the Kig knows she's been going against him this whole time. The mutual trust isn't there.
Ep 13 is all about people and their noble aspirations, one admiring the other for their principles.
Meanwhile, the ministers are as shameless as ever—spinning lies just to cover themselves and grab more power. And Yin Zhong… still frustrating. How is she not seeing right through the Grand Preceptor’s tricks by now? I am hoping that she is just playing along but secretly helping out leads.
As for the romance, I’ve got to say, for an FZX drama, the so-called steamy moments are surprisingly tame. But in their own way, they feel sweet and a little more understated. The romance is quiet in this show, while the political games take the spotlight.
I think they tried to show the FL having some sort of affection for the ML but she always held back until the last scene. But because of that restraint, I never felt the chemistry between them. The last scene did imply that they would become a couple but it didn’t matter to me anyway 😁
Ah, our brilliant FL - once again she trusted her instincts and along with her intelligence, finally figured out the truth about the ML's torment. Ep 12 ended well!
Honestly, do we have haters everywhere that even mini drama actors cannot get away from these negative people? I really don't get the rating!
I agree with the reviewers that there was a lot going on, which ended up diluting the plot, but I ultimately enjoyed this drama quite a bit.
Great visual storytelling filled with emotional depth, heightened by the OSTs. The cinematography was excellent—every frame felt meticulously composed, often lingering in silence just long enough to let the weight of the scene settle in. Shadows, muted palettes, and deliberate camera movements created a brooding and melancholy atmosphere that mirrored the characters’ sadness and turmoil. It was the kind of visual work that set the mood perfectly.
Equally compelling was the acting. The cast carried the heaviness of the narrative with a quiet intensity, channeling grief, regret, and self-discovery in performances that felt raw. Their ability to convey vulnerability through subtle shifts in expression or body language made the show profoundly moving.
I don't know why it took me so long to finally finish the last two episodes—probably because I wanted to avoid the sadness that would come when it ended. It was a proper ending with a concrete resolution, but I found no satisfaction because it seemed that everyone lost in the end.
For me, this drama was a meditation on memory, loss, and the fragile beauty of human connection. It’s somber, yes, but deeply reflective—inviting viewers not just to watch but to sit with their own thoughts long after the credits roll.
I didn’t expect much at first, but this is actually turning out to be an enjoyable watch. FZX is definitely the highlight for me—he’s carrying the role of the tormented male lead with secrets well. What I appreciate is that he’s not written as the usual cold and untouchable type. Instead, he lets the female lead see his emotions and pain, while still holding so much back. FZX captures that balance nicely.
I also like the female lead. She knows her values, stands firm in her choices, and trusts her instincts. That strong intuition has guided her well and made her character feel steady and admirable.
On the other hand, Yin Zong is frustrating. She gets manipulated far too easily, and it makes her come across as less intelligent compared to the other two leads. Being from the same group, I had expected more from her.
Goodness, I just binged episodes 12 through 17 , and I think this show has officially set the record for the most kisses (well… excluding the mini dramas, of course).
Now I need to backtrack and catch up on all the comments, because this crowd of viewers is funny. I can only imagine the comments about those “make-out sessions", oops - I mean… deeply spiritual soul-bonding rituals.

I loved all the shows you just mentioned! A Girl Like Me was a great watch - the ML was so attractive :D
