Remember, when HFX went up against YWY, he realized YWY also knows the Jade Moon technique and told BFX about it?

But the core of the story is the same. Characters range from almost same ( BFX, HC) to very different ( YWY, FQW, FC). HFX’s character is more calculating and ruthless in the novel and his political backstory was glossed over in a couple of chapters in the novel. There is less romance in the novel. But as others have said, don’t try to compare the drama to the novel as it’s driven others crazy. Just enjoy the drama and then read the novel after the drama ends if you’re interested.

I also happen to like the drama version better.
