I can't believe I'm writing this but here it's the ML who is 1 dimensional..... like pls have sth more than "FL's romantic interest".... I wish the trend for cold and emotionally unavailable ML's would disappeared....
literally had to do a double take after seeing BL and China in one place. is it really bl? or like "censored adaptation of the original", like the untamed ?what's going on ?
can someone please explain to me the FL's family situation? im quite confused. so her dad died but here mom is alive and remarried ? and the daughter with her new husband doesn't like the FL?
like 8.7 is genuingly an insane rating for this and Iβm not even hating but can we actually please be for real
the biggest mystery was the fact that the ML fell in love with the FL. also, the fact that the FL, even supposedly being in her 30s, still acts like a child. Both of those were more of plot holes tbh. whatever serial killer mystery was sth I couldn't care less for cuz the main characters were meh and main plot was bleh. spoilers or no spoilers, I couldn't force myself to watch this past ep 5 π€·πΌββοΈ
like 8.7 is genuingly an insane rating for this and Iβm not even hating but can we actually please be for real
nah I'm just a hater of brain dead dramas that require u to not think too much into the plot cuz then u will notice how shit it is and how it makes no sense π€·πΌββοΈ
you talking about the ML? he kidnapped the FL, locked her up in the car, harassed her, screamed at her, manhandled her, grabbed and pushed her around, tied her up, just to name a few abusive things he did. none of those actions r OK. none of them r romantic. this is the definition of abusive.
ML is just a huge asshole and the FL is just so childish and unbearable. Hae Jo is physically abusive while You mi cannot stop shouting and crying all the time. No, buying some pair of shoes for the girl ain't gonna make you a "good guy". at least acting is good... but the dynamic between the leads is awful.
like 8.7 is genuingly an insane rating for this and Iβm not even hating but can we actually please be for real
ikr. this is lovely runner all over again (the overhyped thing)
the ML has been harassing the FL for like 10 episodes straight but we r supposed to be OK with it because.... he's dying ? or because he doesn't know who is his dad? wth man. she should have run away from him as far as she could but nope...... and to make the SML the butt of all the joke is just bad....
Just finished episode 5 and I'm thinking about dropping it. It's very boring to me. Will it get better, or is…
personally, i found it really messy. once the flashback starts, the story just goes ππππ. it looses the point of its plot, it's unclear who the main characters are and who r the enemies. first part was left very under developed and the second part was rushed. the ending felt like a weird quick wrap of all the typical kdrama subplots. to each their own but don't force unself to watch it if u r not interested, esp if it's on ep 5 where it should be at its peak
wow. nam yoon su did an AMAZING job here. the whole time I kept on forgetting that he was that bully guy in extracurricular. like I had to look it up again to make sure I wasn't imaginine it. this role is completely different, polar opposite I would say.
also, he really played well the gay character. like in kdramas u can tell most of the time that the actors r straight but here, no scene felt awkward, and no point did i feel like i was watching a straight man do sth he's not too comfortable with.
here u get so consumed by the story that u forget that there r actually actors behind every role. it's been awhile since I felt that in a kdrama, or all Asian dramas for that matter.
this series felt like a breath of fresh air in a very stuffy market filled with ur typical romcom kdramas where every single moment is predictable and deprived of any strong emotion or investigation ones, where the writers will do anything to keep the "mystery" going, even if it means adding many plot holes.... all about that "formula" to make a "hit" and earn cash. bleh
I hope to see many more of those kinds of original kdramas and I will for sure follow nam yoon su β¨οΈ
Not me being on reddit... may I have the link pls?I am happy we can agree in some areas. As previously mentioned,…
sometimes I come back to ur review cuz it portrays exactly how I feel about it π (u put it in nicer words tho). btw I think it was me who linked ur review on reddit π₯Ήπ it's a great one about this series so I wanted to shareπ¬
the story line where the FL was trying to get the ML to like her friend is so meh, like... meeehhhh π€’. and how she just couldn't comprehend that the guy just wasn't interested in her friend and kept harassing the guy.... uff ΰ² _ΰ²
can someone pls tell me if the fl strong and not an airhead who constantly needs to be saved by the ML? I started watching the first ep and the FL seems to have a very.... "childish" ... voice (not sure how else to describe it. like baby talk I guess) and I'm worried that the whole series will be like that...
I would say that this is identical to true beauty, it's just here the setting is in uni and she got plastic surgery. literally the only difference. even ML is the same and acts the same π€·πΌββοΈ
I agree with ur review, at least for the 5 episodes I've seen. I couldnt finish it. as you said, all characters are surface level. I could only cringe at the FL and be confused as to why ML has any feelings for her
everything about this series screams fan service for kpop stans. a girl who is obsessed with a kpop idol goes back in time and becomes his love interest.
there's no chatacter development, no exploration of emotional challenges the FL had to go through for example, when she lost her ability to walk and gained it back. theres just. nothing. all surface level.
I've seen some comments saying that this drama ain't that deep and how people are being harsh on it. but if u have turn off ur head to enjoy it drama, then it's not a 9.0 drama. it's a 7.5 at most.....
started watching this series. first scene - ML and the fl r in a book shop and his fans notice them talking. what he does? throws his back pack on the floor. then takes fls back pack and also throws it on the floor (of c mixing them up) and then he.... hugs her so the fans don't c her or sth ΰ² _ΰ² . this is exactly the moment I called it quits. ππ»ππ»ππ»
even while being in a mood for cringy romcom this was... too much π¬
I'm literally struggling to watch the last ep and finish the series.... it started so well but then all characters just became meh. the gay brother became the least likable character. the older brother is just doing some weird self sacrifice (I think that's what ep11 finished on) and the fl is just there... being sad and all..... eh only one episode....
I wish I didn't read that it was based on the Russian series "Mazhor" because this is completely different. maybe by itself I would have enjoyed it but knowing the source material and how much they have changed it ..... it's hard to continue...
they could have done so much more by following the original work more closely. there the ML was a typical spoiled brat whose dad was able to bribe his son out of trouble until his patience ran out. so there we get this character who for the first time has to face consequences for his actions and see the other side of the world, where ppl do not have the privileges he has. he also realises that some problems cannot be solved with money.
also, he has to work with people who he despises the most, trying to hide it from his "friends" but once it comes out, he looses his whole social circle cuz he became "trash" (a slang for policemen in russia). literally one of the scenes is where he stands in front of the police building and his "friends" drive by in their luxury sports cars and throw trash at him and he just has to accept it. but this helps him gain some respect from his new collegues.
here, on the other hand, it's completely different. he likes working for police and gains a lot of respect for it. he also has had this amazing training because he just enjoys doing special agent games. he wasn't that deep into the "spoiled rich kid" social life so there isn't this crushing moment where the ML realises that actually he is on his own and everything he has known is just garbage.
so yeah, guess my point is that on its own, the series seems great but knowing the source material.... well makes it hard for me to watch this.
