This is giving me old school kdrama romcom vibes and I love it. The high school actors look so good together, I almost wish it was a drama of just them even though I love Yumi and JJH.
I have a feeling this drama is going to get a bit dark and sad though based on some of the flashbacks/memories we have seen.
My only complaint is that I already hate Cha Ji Hye and hate how romance kdramas always have to have a supporting actress who is obsessed with the ML and not a girls girl. She's def going to cause some issues later on which I'm not looking forward to.
I don't think she's in a place to date , or even think about dating anyone at this point of the story. It would…
My point was I wish her character was single/unmarried cause its clear they are pushing a romance with the cop which i like them together but they need to quickly deal with her husband and Im honestly tired of seeing him. He makes me not enjoy the drama at this point because his behavior and audacity is just too much.
I wish they had just made Jeong Suk a single mother, the deadbeat dad with the affair really isnt even that vital to the plot if we are honest. Showing the hardships of being a single mom and going into the "sex business" is honestly enough of a plot, esp with the cops backstory.
I'd rather see her slowly date the cop then have to deal with the awful cheating husband subplot they have going on. I understand they wanted to be progressive and show her as a women who isnt going to forgive him and be okay with it but her not telling that other guy about his wife cheating, esp now knowing shes pregnant with her husbands baby is just too much and I'm annoyed. I dont even want to see the issue resolved im that annoyed I just want that deadbeat dad gone and divorced. She also should have smacked the shit out of that girl by now. Im ready for her to stop being so timid in regards to her personal life.
The thing that always gets me about attitudes like this is these people (these men) have sex, they want sex, they…
A nd also the hypocrisy of they like it when their mistresses or one night stands are sexy and "easy" but the wives are expected to be prudes. As soon as the wives turn into moms they really dont even see them as sexual beings anymore just their childs mom like many korean women have said, its sad. Yeah its weird they can jerk off everyday and if a women wants to all of a sudden becasue it involves a toy its ... wrong? So dumb.
This is such an underrated show, it is so educational and emotional in a very unique way. I love how they use the selling lingerie and seggs toys as a metaphor to women's equality/ feminist movement in Korea.
I am so iffy about the grandma's slap. I don't know if her backstory fully redeems her but I can say I understand better why she ended up with all that anger inside her and when her perfect, timid daughter decided to start "selling sex/lust" she reacted so harshly. When husbands cheat women are left with a deep insecurity about not being sexy enough or good enough in bed and it ends up causing them to envy/hate women who they think resresent that. But the smack while she was looking for her son was just a bit too much for me. I know the daughter understood but I can't help but still be a bit unforgiving.
I love the developing friendship between the ladies and the boys. I'm hoping next episode is a little less emotional and a little bit more feel good comedy because today's was pretty heavy.
i love how simple but beautiful their confessions were.
i love how this show gave the main characters time to get all of their issues resolved before getting together. im a firm believer that sometimes, even with the right person, you may need to wait for things to be right, there is no reason to rush when love has no expiration date (still crying over that line)
this show just turned into the sweetest show and my favorite love confession so far.
I'm wondering if it's not early onset alzheimer's but a tumor would be better because that could that least be…
and many brain tumors are non cancerous so doesnt have to be repition of the cancer trope. for me her symptoms seem to be getting suddenly worse, like shes more frequently forgetting things so idk. early onset dementia means you get it younger, but its usually still a gradual decline of memory loss and other functions. so idk her symptoms seems to be ramping up a bit so im thinking shes going to show up in her husbands hospital and the memorial scene is about her but i hope not because i want them to fix their marriage
I'm wondering if it's not early onset alzheimer's but a tumor would be better because that could that least be…
Depends where the tumor is, not all brain tumors or tumors in general are operable. I'm thinking something is going to happen with her and she will be taken by ambulance to her husbands hospital.
But some form of early onset dementia was my main thought but idk. The memorial theory could be about his mom not the FL tbh. Thats why Ive been thinking maybe tumor or something that causes pressure to rise and rupture and she ends up in the hospital. I think she will go along with the divorce then something is going to happen to put her in the hospital because she seems to in denial a bit about her memory becoming significantly worse all of a sudden. So time wise it doesnt seem like she feels the need to get checked out. Unless she has and they havent showed us yet.
So refreshing to see a romance kdrama finally have mature relationships. I'm so tired of kdramas always making the ex gfs/bfs evil instead of acknowledging that these are real people who loved one another and were a big part of eachothers life for awhile. So happy to see the ML get over his insecurity and help her close that chapter of her life and start truly healing. He isn't letting her be numb to everything and push her feelings down and I love him so much.
I am so sad to predict that everyone is so worried about the FL but I think ML mom is going to be the one who passes at the end of this show from im guessing a tumor or something in her brain. The husband clearly loves her but the misunderstandings are tearing him apart. Def going to be a bittersweet ending but loving the realness of this drama.
This comment is way too long but it's a positive one so really only meant to be read by other people who are enjoying this show and want to talk about it! This show is def not for everyone and people who want or were expecting romcom I can fully understand being disappointed. But this post is for those who love and connect with this show!
The last episode was so simply beautiful. I loved the realness of the main couple paired with the silliness of the second couple.
I think the beauty of this show is that instead of making someone the bad guy it shows us realistic circumstances which pushed people to the place they currently are. Before this episode everyone wanted to hate the ex bf but when you think about it literally no one but him knew about her cancer and depression. That is A LOT of weight for someone as young as him to bear alone. Him wanting a break from it is understandable though we can also see why it broke her heart. If she had told her friends/family about her health they could have helped him take care of him so all that weight wasn't on him. Obviously her depression was also linked to working a job that she just hated and being burnout so the end of their relationship was inevitable. But I love how this drama showed that they did truly care for one another but sometimes life happens and things dont work out. Just because you love someone doesn't mean you are meant to spend the rest of your life with them.
I love the simple complexity and realism of this show. This is probably one of the most realistic romances I've seen and as someone whose family is riddled with cancer I also understand why she didn't tell anyone even though her family has every right to be pissed. I look forward to the ML making her realize that her having cancer doesn't mean she isn't worthy of love and doesn't mean what happened in her relationship before will happen again. And this time around she has the people she loves around her where as she was all alone in America.
There is no right or wrong in this drama and as the show goes on we get better insight into the past and everything that has happened to make these people the way they are, especially their flaws. I think every character as we have gotten to know more about them has grown on me and I appreciate the second couple for being our source of smiles amidst some of the other heaviness going on.
This weekend's episodes made me love this show even more. I'm 30 and at a similar point in life to the FL, so even though its a slower place I love how relatable it is for people in this age area or even people younger still figuring things out.
The father... god I want to hug him and ask him to adopt me. And the single father SML, im melting. I love the second couple so much it may end up overtaking the business proposal second couple in terms of all time favorites for me. I love how they are such great, but realistic people.
I'm def very nervous for next weekend because I get a little meh with bringing in exes into romance stories but I know we need this to move the plot and start filling in some things that we don't know yet like what exactly happened in america. I'm hoping its handled well and I'm happy they aren't saving this for the end. I am a bit worried about plot pacing after next weekend though... because after everything is cleared up with the exes i kinda feel like there shouldnt be too much left besides her telling her parents what she wants to do for them to get their happy ending but theres still 10 episodes so idk, im a bit nervous about how long this ex thing could drag. Or if they will hande the ex thing and the one year off thing serperately in the drama. And the issues with the ML and his family i guess is a whole other issue we still need to resolve.
I love this show so much I'm nervous for it to start doing the typical halfway mark filler nonsense.
If you don't take this show too seriously it's a fun watch. Gives me classic, silly kdrama vibes. The episodes haven't dragged yet and its 12 episodes not 16 so hopefully it stays on pace.
What I saw was great and exciting, but I felt like I'd walked in half way through the movie. It just needed 20…
I'm glad I'm not the only person feeling this way because very little was explained in the beginning and thirty minutes in I understand some of the main points like his wife and child being killed and them pinning a murder on him but the rest is so confusing and not explained well.
Episode 3 was cringe with the overacting by the neighbors and made me just genuinely dislike them. The 4 week deal is so .. immature and disrespectuful to the mom considering it mainly concerns her. The FL being protective is understandable but she has crossed into controlling.
Episode 4 felt like we got more back on track but felt a little all over the place too. There's so many different subplots going on and I don't think they are blended together very coherently at time. I actually like the moments between Mirae and Tae Pyeong. I think they are refreshing and cute, kind of a nice break from the craziness of the drama. I wish the FL/mom had told the dad what she overheard the tax accountant say? And why would she tell the guy she overheard him? It's just not very street smart. Like, of all times for her to be protective of her exhusband it just... was frustrating. I'm happy the end of the episode showed the mom being aware of whats going on with the dad and daughter and realizing it needs to stop.
I think the thing that's starting to annoy me is how this is so centered on money. I understand the dad lost his family because of the financial disasters he caused so he's trying to overcompensate for that but trying to buy back your wife and family is just ... unhealthy and unpleasant to watch. The daughter being competitive about it is also annoying . I really hope next weekend kills this 4 week deal thing and they can go about trying to become a family again the old fashioned way.
This was a genuinely fun watch and I usually hate the childhood best friends trope. I like that both the male and female are equally successful and intelligent but opposite personalities. It'll be fun to watch her become more serious as she falls in love and it'll be fun to see him go a little crazy (obv they will bring out that side in eachother as we can already see).
I think this could be a great drama, but probably not at 16 episodes. Everyone is already guessing they will bring in some love triangles (celeb girl and ex fiancee) so I'm hoping they don't go too far with anything cause I agree that is going to come eventually.
And yeah, this hitting was too much but kdramas have been bad about that this year so I guess it is what it is. It's a different culture and I don't agree with it but that something Koreans need to figure out. I really like her mom too so I hope the writers dont do any more of these scenes. One long one was enough.
"If her mother wants to have a conversation with her father, it is not up to her to go running and stopping her…
no, im talking about when she heard her mom was talking to her dad she went sprinting home not the misunderstanding when she arrived. there was no need for her to start sprinting for her life to interrupt her mom and dad talking
I think the point of this drama isn't to take sides (daughter/mom vs dad) but show that there are several sides to a story and humans make mistakes and we have to suffer the consequences of those mistakes like him losing his family. His wife and family left him not the other way around and he clearly loved them despite the awful financial decisions he made.
The father definitely has a lot of redeeming to do but the daughter also needs to deal with her trauma because she's taking this a bit too far. She doesn't get to control what her mom and brother do just because she's the breadwinner. We complain about men doing that for centuries so she needs to be called out on her behavior too. If her mother wants to have a conversation with her father, it is not up to her to go running and stopping her mom. Her relationship with her father and her mom's relationship with her father are two seperate relationships. Her mother is clearly a smart woman considering she left him and helped her daughter go to college on her own.
This drama is obviously about redempiton, pride, and forgiveness within a family so I think instead of taking sides we need to see how the writer reconciles the past with the present .
I also hope the writers were careful not to make the daughter's anger go on for too long or too obnoxiously. I dont expect them to fully forgive him until the end but I'm worried that they are going to make the daughter's character very unlikeable to watch. Episode 2 made me a bit tired of her alrady. There needs to be a balance between her anger at her father and her other relationships and interactions. I'm hoping minho's character can get her to focus on herself and finally stop worrying about her family so much and focus on her own happiness.
And that father should def be paying their rent after all he put them through so I hope the mom accepts because the daughter deserves to keep her salary for herself for once and put her pride down.
I have a feeling this drama is going to get a bit dark and sad though based on some of the flashbacks/memories we have seen.
