I am sorry, but Choi Jin Hyuk can't do romance. I am just not feeling it. I don't get why the FL is into the ML.And…
The ML is a complete simp for the FL. He's always calling her and checking on her. He brings her tea to help her sleep. He's helped her and saved her life multiple times. He's opened up to her about his missing mom.
I actually really like the ML and how he was written. He def was a bit of a a-hole at the beginning but I think he's been humbled a bit and is a lot softer now. He continuously through his actions shows his feelings towards her and I appreciate that.
He seems genuinely terrified of that one room being haunted and why would he have needed to kill the male intern? The thing is we know the killer killed that male intern for some reason. Why would the killer go out of pattern (usually only kills females) and kill the male intern? That means the male intern somehow overheard something or knows something. Which means the killer is most likely one of the other interns or police by association.
I mean still a possibility though cause he had a wife who died and owns the building but doesnt seem to fit the writing and what they are focusing on.
Also those two families are close. Meaning FL aunt who is missing knows FL best friends dad so if he came with that checkbook the aunt would be like "wtf" she wouldnt have called the doctor to tell him someone came to the bank with the money book. Someone random she didn't know came to the bank with the doctor's wife money book and i guess took the money and the aunt was sus about it and tried calling and telling the guy and the killer (the person who came to the bank) probably killed or scared her because she's a loose thread.
This is one of my issues with the show and I also think why a lot of people got the 2nd lead syndrome last week…
Yeah I made a post earlier in the thread that they made this guy so intelligent at the start but somehow he isn't more... suspicious of the two? The show originally had him almost catching her change like 2/3 times in a row and then he noticed her backpack was the same as one another so it was like the writers were creating tension there... "is he going to find out her secret?" "how long until he figures out"
And then they abruptly dropped that kinda plot line and now they treat the old and young version of her as two completely different people in regards to him. At least in the first 2/3 episodes they had her kinda flirty with him at work and then she caught herself. Now it's like a completely professional relationship at work. Like at work even she isn't attracted to him anymore or anything which is odd. If shes falling in love with him you think she would.... act that way a little more at work. But like you said the writers know that trying to do cheesy stuff (like the cutesy stuff with the idol guy) just... isn't going to look right or work so they kinda just gave up and made night time the only time we saw them two interact "in a romantic sense"
I feel like at some point he and the coworker should have noticed that theyve caught those two in the same exact clothes multiples times now. I feel like he should be more suspicious about both of their identities.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the leads chemistry but episode 11 and 12 were WAY better in terms of building the romantic relationsihip and actually starting to like them together. They wrote the female awfully the last 2 weekends.
If they had condensed episodes 7-10 into one episode (take out the misunderstanding, cat searching, drunken nonsense etc) and moved to episode 10 this show could could have been so good. Episode 11 and 12 felt completely different from the last 2 weekends, but these episodes also just made the last weekend so irrelevant. We wasted so much time trying to create a misunderstanding between the leads and its like they completely forgot about that this weekend (thank god).
However, the teaser for the next episode being ANOTHER misunderstanding between him now and the female coworker.... why are these writers so obsessed with making people jealous and creating misunderstandings?! Could they really not come up with more to write about the murder mystery?? I'd rather watch the police officers and them chase bad guys or do investigative work than another episode of weird misunderstandings between the leads.
On a side note... I love her parents so much, especially her dad. He may be a new favorite kdrama dad for me.
Okay I just started episode 11 and I need to clear up a confusion.
I thought the male coworker Byeong Deok was married? I thought he was married and his in-laws were staying with him thats why he never wanted to go home cause he hated them and wanted to avoid his wife and in laws? But now theres a possible romance for him? Unless I read something completely wrong in the first 2 episodes...
Is it just me or does anybody else feel like the young and old FL are not "the same person". I can't tell if it's…
This is one of my issues with the show and I also think why a lot of people got the 2nd lead syndrome last week because we see so much time of the old FL with the male lead at work and because of the age gap, plus being in a professional environment, theres really no romantic buildup going on. I think the writer was hoping that people would kind of ignore the age gap and count this as the two leads building/deepening their relationship but like you i kinda view them as two different people and more importantly the male lead views them as two entirely different people so i dont view the scenes of them working together when shes old as them "building their relationship".
This is why I think a lot of people have been frustrated by the writing of the leads developing relationship when she is in her young/true form. She's always drunk or just kinda a mess in her younger form so the buildup of the relationship doesn't even make sense. She's always drunk or just kinda being a mess so in reality they genuinely havent even really gotten to know one another and I think the writers/directors kinda got lazy or assumed that since she's getting to know him in her older form that we don't need to see the same type of interactions in her younger form at night and it wasn't a good decision.
Because up until episode 10 a lot of people cant even understand why he likes her so much beause in reality he only ever occasionally sees her at night and she's either drunk or with the idol guy or just some other weird behavior. It's hard to believe he's just immediatley madly in love with her when they havent even had a mature conversation until episode 10.
For me this show writing wise feels like its in the 2nd draft stage, I think there's a few things that should have been written differently and cleaned up because I see a lot of similar complaints about this show.
I honestly can't remember.... did she actually ignore his call? I remember him saying that he'd call her, Ko Won…
Yeah after the failed kiss and him saying sorry he kept trying to call her, thats why the bestfriend tried to take things into her own hands and talk to him and "explain things" even though she kinda made it worse and after that and hearing her with ko won on the phone he stopped calling. thats why she was like "why did he stop calling"
The only plot advancement was them finding the drugs cause that will move the serial murder/missing person case…
It's awful but at this point either someone needs to die or the male lead needs to find out her secret cause she's not catching that damn cat lmao.
I also think its two seperate cases. Think the doctor is the murder cause that was him with the ax and car (though idk maybe theyll show some crazy backstory and he was wrong place, wrong time) and i think someone else is the drug pushing connected to the celeb. Possibly the mayor cause he seems super anti this drug investigation but idk
The only issue that I have is the direction it's gone in the last 4 episodes that I watched so far is the romance…
The past 4 episodes have just been pure romance filler tbh, they are trying to build a connection between the leads but then the writers also keep making there be misunderstanding so theres no advancement which is just tiring to watch. There's so much more with the missing persons and murders they could be showing. Like her trying to figure out what really happened to her aunt for starters
the last 2 episodes pissed me off big time, it's like they were written by someone else. they felt so fillerish…
The only plot advancement was them finding the drugs cause that will move the serial murder/missing person case along. Which is why im like in 2 horus of show thats all we got? Besides more miscommunication between the leads? Its silly
I honestly can't remember.... did she actually ignore his call? I remember him saying that he'd call her, Ko Won…
The male lead was repeatedly calling her since the failed kiss. Thats why she was like "why did he stop calling me" and thats why he just showed up at her house! She's so childish. And yes ACTIVELY avoiding him by rejecting his calls. Thats why she was looking at her phone upset he stopped trying to call then turned her phone off, then when she turned her phone off he called her again!! So she missed another call. (Her name is documents in his phone, you can see him debate calling her again then hit call but its right after she turns her phone off)
When she was with her best friend he kept calling her and her best friend asked her why she is ignoring it, That was him calling repeatedly.

she had a spunky and go getter attitude at first so i liked her intially, but now they kinda ruined her character
the male lead deserves so much better. even though he's work-focused and stoic it's clear when he cares for someone (her dumbass self) he is a softie and makes time for them and its just making me sad that he keeps seeing her with ko won in these easily misunderstood moments and then shes wondering why he keeps asking about ko won ???
his character deserves so much better than this at this point. he was in need of some humbling at first but now its too much and just... mean honestly.
i swear the writers hate her character cause they are just putting her character in these weird situations for no real end purpose because obviously we know how it will end.
at this point id rather another character be killed and they start investigating and focusing on that cause this weird love triangle thing is just ruining this drama.
I do not understand why the male lead likes her to be honest, everytime they are together she is being immature, awkward, and difficult. I love her when she's the "old lady" but her true younger self is genuinely becoming someone i can't stand.
She's refusing to answer his calls then is like "why isn't he calling me anymore" when he finally stops?? And then he goes to her house and she just starts snapping at him saying he's being weird like girl?? He's asking about Ko Won because literally everybody ,except you apparently, can see that he likes you and he obv wants to know whats going on cause he likes you too?? Please get the memo and grow up. Her being all moody is just tiring me out.
It feels like they are trying to force the romance as filler to the mystery plot and its painful to watch.
It should not have taken 2 hours (2 episodes) for them to find the drugs and match them to the hospital. Most of this weekend (and last weekend) was filler of them feeding into this weird miscommunication trope and her still not finding this cat which at this point isn't really adding anything to the plot. I get she wants to find the cat and switch back but do we need to seriously spend so much time with her trying to find the cat?? And even watching her friend and the guy making posts about the cat, I mean seriously, that's something that should be happening in the background why is it taking up screen time?
I need studios to stop requiring kdramas to be 16 episodes. So many kdramas have the potential of being great if they were cut in half and all the filler nonsense taken out.
I'm at the point where I'm going to ship the female friend and male lead cause he deserves better and she's a great friend. Those two are holding this show down while the rest of the characters are just... there and annoying me. The celeb is weird and the other guy is an alcoholic, they stopped being interesting a few episodes ago.
I'm not saying he should assume she turns into an old lady obviously, I'm saying he should be like "why are you and her always wearing the same exact clothes, backpack, etc?" "Are you related or something?" something along those lines. unless he sees it himself he wont believe but that point is that supposedly he is a guy who notices everything (and in the beginning he recognized the backpack) but apparently he hasnt even noticed that. its inconsitent writing on his character.
And in episode 2/3 he did notice it and take a second look so I thought that would be the start of him kind of putting it together or being more suspicious but they just kinda did nothing with it.
The first half of the drama was filled with moments of him almost catching her "changing" and then the past 3/4 episodes they stopped with that which makes all that overdramatic writing seem fruitless? I guess he will just find out towards the end of the drama or right at the end and then the misunderstands can be cleared which again makes all those scenes kinda .. unnecessary? They weren't even that comedic cause I dont find her constantly hitting him physically with stuff or herself funny?
This started strong and interesting for me but the past 3 epsiodes have shown that this show should be cut in half as the writing in certain areas is just plain bad. Not to mention you don't have to go to law school to know that none of this is realistic.
The warrant to search the hospital was denied by the judge meaning them going through the hospital searching for evidence is illegal and all three of them are literally on camera going into these private areas of the hospital illegally?? But somehow the cops arent called? In real life the director would have them arrested and they would be found guilty.
Any evidence obtained illegally can not be used in court or at all. Meaning him finding that random drug and the fentanyl and saying "we can have the NFS run a search on it" .. NO YOU CANT. Its not admissable in court and in reality you wouldnt even be able to get the NFS to run tests on it since your warrant wasnt approved in the first place. And this prosecutor is supposed to be by the book super smart.
Like, this is just BAD writing.
Also, this misunderstanding with the second male lead is just not necessary. There's already so much going on in this show, trying to create a fake love triangle just feels like too much. The female character is also just written... extremely annoyingly. And this prosecutor is so smart but he hasnt noticed that the old women and younger women wear the same exact clothes constantly?? And how has the female character not put together that her missing aunt is clearly connected to this (i think shes alive but was almost killed so she ran). Now I see why you didn't get hired for 7 years. She's good at making spreadsheets and typing but when it comes to street smarts and free thinking she is just... not the smartest.
As a comedy this show is good but in terms of thriller and romance, the writing is all over the place. I'm disappointed cause this show was honestly fun at the start but I'm getting annoyed. I dont think the main couple has the greatest chemistry either. All their scenes alone are just awkward and that's partly writing and party the acting. This show could have been cut in half and didnt even need to be romance.
I'm about halfway through ep 6 and this possible love triange (or awkward unrequited love i should say) is absolutely not needed and feels like filler.
Everything else about the show I somewhat enjoy but i hope this love triange is smashed by the end of this episode or its going to somewhat ruin the show for me.
Most love triangles in kdramas seem like the writer just needs filler and couldnt write an in depth or interesting enough story of just the two leads without throwing in someone else to buy a little time (in this case 16 episodes). Like why does this unrequited love of sang do need to take up half an episode so far when we know its never going to work out? Just pointless and imo taking away from the story.
I actually really like the ML and how he was written. He def was a bit of a a-hole at the beginning but I think he's been humbled a bit and is a lot softer now. He continuously through his actions shows his feelings towards her and I appreciate that.
