Episode one was a little bit slow for me but was a great character introduction but episode two really brought everything together and up to speed and i'm excited to binge this more tomorrow.

Push through episode one a bit and the pace picks up and starts getting interesting.

I wouldn't say this is going to be the best kdrama ever but I think this is a sweet, wholesome watch if you are feeling down and want something nice to watch that isn't too heavy. Even though it addresses a few sad/serious things this drama has a very light touch about it that I enjoy.

I do think the overall "vibe" (directing/filming style/script) is ... a bit similar to Our Beloved Summer. I know some people are kinda arguing about this but I think if you liked that drama then you should definitely give this a shot... I like the storyline of this drama better but I do think the FL characters are similar in personality in some ways.

My theory is that FL’s father saved him from the fire and died. Basically, trope of ML and FL having childhood…
lol kdrama writers go-to trope. im hoping something a little less typical but this is def a strong possibility

That would actually be nice if it were to happen, it’ll give more depth to his character. I find him a bit too…
I've been watching heavier stuff lately so I find the wholesomeness of his character welcoming right now. However, I agree that his character is a bit too perfect where he is a bit one-dimensional. So, I do hope that we start seeing some cracks in her perfect mask soon or this could be boring.

my current theory is that eunho as a kid accidentally caused the fire and that's why he's so ocd now about keeping things organized and on schedule, or maybe his parents were the messy ones and caused it and he has that guilt hanging over him .

I'm on episode 5 and can now understand why this is rated as one of the favorite kdrama couples. They give so much tension, sass, and devotion. I'm so in love with their story already. Preparing to have my heart broken though...

For those who have finished the show:

Did anyone else kinda feel like in the last episode, final performance she kinda got her voice back a bit? Like the notes were clear and powerful compared to how she was singing not that long ago. Not sure if this was intentional or not.
On Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born Dec 11, 2024
Easily the best kdrama of 2024 and it's not even close. Incredible on so many levels. Even though the ending is somewhat vague and bittersweet I actually think it was timed perfectly.

Kim Taeri is truly a once in a lifetime talent just like her character but really the whole cast was amazing.

im a bit ocd, i need the voice and mouth movements to match. also the eng dubbing is atrocious on there, the voices are very weird and unnatural

Is there any way to watch this show not with eng dubs? I'm in America and hulu/disney only has this available with eng dub no korean audio. Same with the drama Moving

that's what happens when 18- people watch 18+ stuff
im not, im pointing out that you shouldnt make generalized comments. you are saying people under 18 are why the ratings were dropping and all im saying is a lot of people watching are over 18. you have no idea the demographic of people who have rated this drama so trying to blame it on people's age when you dont have that information is ignorant.

I'm 31 and love melos but this drama had things I wasn't overly satisfied with. It's immature to think that just because someone doesn't like this drama or rate it high they must be young and dumb. Everyone has their own preferences and opinions on the story and acting. Most people in the comments are giving valid reasons why they liked and disliked the drama.

Can I ask a question that is without malice? Did she lose weight for this role? I almost didn’t recognize her.…
She's struggled with her weight for awhile but it's gotten worse. She says she sometimes forgets to eat when filming but idk. Something shifted in the past few years and even in promotion videos shes still a bit too thing, her face is just so different from how it used to be

The issue that I had was that there was so much focus on gong yoo and hyunjin acting with their eyes and face that their bodies felt very...stiff. So many scenes with Inji just kinda sitting and standing perfectly still even when annoyed that it just didn't feel...human?

There was great acting in this and I loved the ending for the leads but it wasn't a 10/10. I hated the guys house and was like no wonder you're depressed living there. The house was just spotless and perfect it didn't feel real? Also, even when waking up and going to bed their hair is perfectly styled and clothes always fit perfect and neat that it kinda lost a bit of authenticity for me. I like melos where the characters actually look a mess not just gong yoo being good at acting with his eyes. For me the styling was a bit too...perfect that it didn't feel real. Rich people's clothes are crumpled and have stains after coming home from a day of work or being out and kdramas still just seem to be more obsessed with visuals than portarying realistic characters and styling.

Also some scenes were too dark I legit couldn't see well and had to change the lighting on my TV.

Can you recommend some good old school kdrama romcoms pls?
other kdramas with an "older vibe" would be:

Romance is a Bonus Book (my all time fav romance kdrama cause its about books and story is wholesome)

Her Private Life is quirky funny like this

Hospital Playist isnt old but a classic nonetheless

Summer Strike, this is also new but has nostalgic vibes and so so good

Beautiful Days is an older one

The hard this is a lot of older kdramas ( before 2000) dont have subs so its hard to find older stuff that has subtitles
