Very valid points. Especially since Glory of special forces is still so recent, cant help comparing. But I thk…
i feel like yang yang gets rumored with all his female costars but if true what a power visual couple and hopefully we get some good chemistry in later scenes

“Glory of Special Forces (2022)” was so darned good. Sometimes, a great plot has no need for the cliché love…
Yes and I made the mistake of coming into this show thinking that it would kind of be similar and I really shouldnt' have cause I put unrealistic expectations on a show that is really romance focused.
On Fireworks of My Heart Jul 6, 2023
I love the 3 male leads of this drama however...

Episode 1 and 2 have me a bit disappointed? The opening felt very cliche and bland. There are so many parallels this show and glory of special forces, specifically for yang yangs character.

I absolutely loved glory of special forces but this show is already reminding me of why I think a lot of shows are better with no romance. Because we are bouncing between the hospital and the fire station I feel like we only are really getting a very superficial look at them, especially the firehouse. I honestly feel like I'm watching some big subliminal firefighter commercial with the 2 speeches yang yangs character has already made. I'm halfway through episode 2 and weve already gotten these big dramatic acts and speeches from yang yangs character.

Also song yan doesn't seem to be written very consistently. We have him as this huge rebel who says screw the rules, I'll do what I want... but then we get these dramatic speeches and rigidity from him . I liked how in glory of sf we saw a gradual growth in the character from a little rebel shit to a mature man and in this show I feel like they are trying to make song yan multiple personalities. Im guessing because its a romance so they also want to paint him in this mature, serious/stoic way? But its not consistent and feels a messy. And yes I understand people can be more than one thing but I still dont think his character as of now if very consistent (but we still have a lot of backstory missing).

Also the female being super wealthy.... it kinda makes the show and romance less relatable and realistic for me. The female character is like top family in all of china wealthy so it just feels ... meh. But maybe we will find out his family is wealthy too? For me the romances between someone way wealthier and someone working class just rarely .... are done well or realistically?

I'm a little meh but for yang yang I'll keep watching and give it a chance

I'm hoping it comes together a bit more soon.

I have a feeling the drama is going to start getting a bit more serious in tone as they start pushing the plot but I hope it keeps its charm and the sweet moments that make you giggle and wish it was you having someone be that cheesy over you.

Title See You in My 19th Life Spoiler
Ok this is a spoiler from manhwa and not sure if they will change it but first her Mr Ha does love her sister…
Yeah, i've seen a few people say the drama has pushed away from the manhwa a bit so i would be interested to read it.

It definitely seems like the drama is having some very negative foreshadowing with the part timer in terms of he's about to try and ruin everything by either killing people or her.

And with the girl who is possibly his mom from her previous life, i always feel like kdramas now have to have the revenge factor because fans love that. So I guess maybe they wanted to add in another surprise element or I'm assuming they will do some other big shifts in the drama and that character will be pivotal to it. I am convinced its the mom cause she's obsessed with getting back at the chairman and his mistress and she said "you've grown up well juwon-ah" so its someone who was older than juwon and who she knew in the last life but also someone who must have died so for me it can only logically be her. Also she changed the flowers at the hotel to her favorite ones she used to put there. So also, this show is kinda predictable too which for how much they have going on i dont think is a good thing. I think they should have slowed down the introduction to some characters or something.

Title See You in My 19th Life Spoiler
yeah lol honestly I wish the love story was a bit more convincing, but it’s always ml and fl meeting as kid…
If they were high school sweethearts for awhile or college I could understand but I'm having a hard time with the whole they were literal children, or he was a child and she was whatever she is lol but wouldn't really call her a child with a thousand years of memories and life experience .

I just feel it's kind of toxic in that she found him interesting and likes him for essentially his trauma. Oh he has a hard life despite being rich and is a bit of a weirdo due to that, I love him cause of it. Idk it seems a bit superficial.

Hopefully it develops more though, i haven't fully given up!

Title See You in My 19th Life Spoiler
This is major plot spoilers.

I'm going to be honest I'm starting to find this plot/storytelling a little all over the place. I'm interested to see how the webtoon's plot was laid out because I feel like we have 10 different things happening at once and all of a sudden in this last episode.

It's not so much that it's confusing but that there's so many things going on that I feel like its hard to take all of them in and feel any deep type of way. Right now we have all of this happening:

1. She's essentially entwined in 3 of her lives
2. She's trying to be with the guy cause she thinks that he's her soulmate or something and I still find her being weirdly obsessed with a child a little ... odd. She saw a spoiled rich kid with mommy issues and in her 100s of years of being alive and she was like "THATS THE ONE! " Someone with the maturity of someone who has lived hundreds of years falling in love with a literal child just came off a little creepy to me tbh, felt a bit like grooming to me and I think if it was the male who lived all the lives more people would say the same. ANYWAYs lol
3. Now we have her brother causing issues for her with loan sharks which obviously is going to come to head at the hotel since the athlete brother spilled the beans.
4. The new part time hire who seems like some supernatural police guy about to stop her from interfering in people from her past life which apparently is a rule but what about that other girl?
5. The new girl who I think is MCs mom reborn but also remembers her past life?
6. Mr. Ha has something thought the years with MCs dad, been somehow kinda betraying him but def feels guilty
7. Mr. Ha things the little sister likes the MC even though we know its not like that , and Mr. Ha just being difficult all around
8. Little sister is kinda going through all the feels and confront her and now she told her who she is which idk timing felt off for that and she sounds crazy even though as the audience we know she isn't
9. The woman the chairman had the fling with or whatever they are to each other, she's up to no good and been stealing money and now involved with this other rich guy and of course we can't forget her lovely son
10. oh the restaurant lady is I guess dying or whatever, possibly because of FC?

This recent episode just added in a few different subplots and its a bit tiresome. I was expected a romance drama that was a bit more focused on the romance. I want one nice, sweet episode haha.

I really hope the next episode ties up some things because I need to show to focus itself a bit. I think her being on her 19th life and trying to essentially live out her previous life as she wanted is big enough of a plot that some of this other stuff just feels unnecessary. I feel like im watching sky castle or that type of genre right now.

An extremely goofy Spiderman haha

This is such a refreshing watch compared to some of the heavier dramas that have come out recently. It's cliche in all the right ways and I'm just hoping it keeps the pace and the second half doesn't turn into some murder mystery like some other romantic dramas have.

Also, if I ever fall of a cliff please use a rope and some common sense to save me.

I don't like realistic violence so I just skipped passed the killing scenes tbh and the show was still good. I also would only watch 1/2 episodes at a time then something happy after so I wouldn't get too creeped out haha. That could work for you, just to see the ending I think it's worth finishing.

I'm on episode 4 and I honestly don't think this show needs the thriller/dark element. I was hoping for a very slow and easy watch. I understand many people find that boring but I think the show could just be about her adjusting to country/beach life and getting to know the people slowly and figuring out what to do next in life.

I think people labeling this as just a "healing drama" are kinda (very) misleading tbh. For me a healing drama has zero suspense and murder and is just nice, slow, and comforting to watch. After 3 episodes I'm annoyed at everyone besides like 3 people because they are awful and there is danger quite literally lurking in the shadows.

As I get older (29) I find myself liking the dramas with older leads. I can understand why some younger kdrama fans may not be into this, I think if their younger favorite actors/actresses were in this they wouldn't be complaining because honestly the story, though cliche at times, is still unique and engaging. The actors are doing a great job and it truly has some all-star veterans in the lineup, even as side roles.

We all have our own tastes, the cute and cliche in this feels old school and familiar in a way that I love. After watching some heavy thriller and crime kdramas this is honestly what I've been looking for. I hope this show stays engaging, I think episode 2 really picked up the pace and is what got me thoroughly hooked.

Sidenote: This does have some very serious themes, but it's done in a way that the drama still feels "cute" and comedic. And we love to see kdramas taking a man's mental health seriously and talking about eating disorders in men.

For those considering watching this:

If you are someone who really loves romances with fantasy and politics being a side focus this is for you.

If you love fantasy and action and don't want romance to be a main focus this may not be for you.

I'm not mad at the show because it's labelled a romance and therefore you can't complain when romance is a main focus. However, I do selfishly wish this show had more balance between the fantasy and the romance. For me the coolest part of this show so far was the opening scene when Naksu was facing off against the mages. I wish we could see more powerful fights and scenes like that. The CGI the first few episodes was really great.

As with all things your expectations going into a show will heavily affect how much you end up enjoying the show and my expectations were just completely different from the reality of this show. Which is my own fault! The acting and plot is fairly good. I'm dropping because for me I'm just having a hard time connect with the leads and since there's not a lot of the fantasy elements to keep me interested that's obviously an issue.

Hope everyone keeps enjoying and I really hope we continue to get more fantasy kdramas! Take care alchemists!

MW is an interesting character and I like that they have him as a grey character and not just another person that…
I agree that I think he adds a good dimension to this drama. I feel like a lot of people just want everyone to coddle or fall in love with WYW but instead MW respects her smarts and sees her as competition. He may be a bit of a douche and use her disability as his way of "offing the competition" but I think he would honestly do it to anyone around his age he sees as a competition. Her disability is just the easy target for him to use. If it was someone else he would use something else to attack them.

The only thing I disagree is I'm not sure if he will get a character development. There are certain lines that when get crossed you can't come back from. To me it would make more sense for him to move to the rival law company and just be kind of business enemies for life haha. I dont see his character ever being okay with being second best tbh.

That thief girl IS Mu Deok lol. They switched identities. The Mudeok we know is the Jin's missing daughter, thats how she got into the area only Jin family can. She is just hiding using Mudeok's name while the real Mudeok is using her name and pretending to be blind.

I'm not sure if this is viki translation issues or what but I'm a bit confused about the mother/wife.

They keep referring to her as "his new wife" and the mom/grandmother said to him "you only care about your wives" in plural. So, is this new wife the FLs biological mom or just the latest wife and due to her position as the main wife right now she is called mother? They make a point talking about how she's younger than him too so I'm confused on what the family tree actually looks like for the female lead.
