??? You like that the bullies have a reason for beating up people?? OK. I'm missing something. There's actually…
I think Near *did* hear what they were saying, and got very afraid, because he knows that if they think he did, they are going to do much worse to him than they have before. So yes, he was trying to pretend he didn't hear them, but the thing is that they wouldn't have stopped even if he had said he didn't -- they wouldn't believe him. They would beat him up pre-emptively, because they are bullies and don't like him to begin with. (It's possible that he didn't hear what they were saying, because it would be pretty stupid of him to walk onto the scene if he did, he should have waited or made a noise farther away to make them shut up. But that could be due to him not realizing in time, or being in a hurry for his part-time job, or just lazy writing.)
I and close family members of mine have been bullied in school, and if you are an insecure, physically weaker, easily frightened introvert, with nobody likely to intervene on your behalf, and especially when you're ganged up on, it's not at all unusual to be unable to talk (or fight) back when you're targeted. Because even if you do, you run the risk of making it worse. Being terrified does that to people. It's also the reason why a lot of r*pe and assault victims get paralysed and unable to defend themselves (which of course is later used against them, "but why didn't she/he say no or fight back, surely the aggressor would have politely backed off immediately" -- uh, no, they wouldn't have...)
Just finished the first episode. I was hoping for this to be good and I'm not disappointed!! The characters are…
They're getting better -- I can recall decent female characters in some recent good-quality BL dramas (1000 Stars, Cherry Magic, ITSAY, Lovely Writer...) -- if they are present at all. The occasional total absence of female characters (beyond background noise) is also a bit weird, but I'd take no females over crazy/stupid/evil females any day. I suppose the crazy fujoshis/Y-girls are supposed to represent the audience, but I must say I don't feel particularly represented.
As for the bullying, the stilted conversation between the school officials about the bullying was pretty badly acted and heavy-handed and felt like an insertion purely to avoid being seen as "promoting" bullying behaviour from the series producers...
Oh, so they released part 1 on Saturday and parts 2-4 yesterday or today? That's an unusual way to do it... And then they will release the full 2-hr version in June?
Ah, yes, I see them now! There was only one episode there when I watched it on Saturday, and the WeTV site says "one episode every Monday", so I assumed that meant one episode/part per week. Maybe there was something wrong with the site when I watched it -- using a VPN can sometimes cause sites to not load properly.
After watching the first episode I think I kinda get the synopsis now... well for the most part at least.
Yes, I kind of get it too. I think the gist of it is something like:
"Thong Fah/Sky is a boy who is devastated after recently losing his father. The person who has helped him through it is his childhood friend Paper. They have always been there for each other, but suddenly their relationship begins to develop into something more -- until one day, when it breaks them apart.
Jeno gets assaulted by his ex-boyfriend, which makes him lose his faith in love -- until he meets Chris. Chris tries to get Jeno to open his heart once again.
Meanwhile, tensions are rising in their high school until an incident occurs.
When you have lost the thing you wanted most, will there be a second chance?"
This is of course pure guesswork, cobbled together after watching the first episode and trying to puzzle out what the machine translations say. I guess we'll see if I got any of it right... LOL
So........ basically if it was in reverse, it will be how a gay lives in a hetero world? lol everyday life for…
Not exactly -- this is a world built on BL tropes, so it's nominally still a straight world, it's just that all the boys are secretly gay while pretending to be straight, and the protagonist is trying to remain a minor side character and avoid getting caught in a BL narrative by figuring out the manga rules for how BL couples get together. He's also the only person who seems aware of it.
I like how this is poking so much fun at the BL tropes -- if you've watched BL, you definitely recognise them. This is not tagged with LGBTQ or gay romance, so I guess Mob manages to stay on the "straight and narrow" path? Either way, a fun watch, and I'll try to catch the next episode.
This is region locked to SE Asia, as far as I can tell, but I managed to watch it on WeTV with the Earth VPN browser extension for Chrome, set to a Thai server. It also seems like the most recent episode will be VIP-restricted and only opened up to free users after the next ep is released.
Part of my confusion comes from not being able to read Thai. Who was the divorce certificate for? I thought Chol's…
From seeing photos of them in college to assuming an affair while married to Chol's mum is quite a leap. Many people have had other partners before getting married. It could just as well be a case of thwarted first love that got a second chance after the passing of his wife. So I am assuming that the divorce certificate is significant in some way.
The thing I'm really hoping now is that Chol and Prab don't turn out to be actual half-brothers. I know that doesn't actually mean a thing in a non-reproductive relationship, but my cultural bias against that "taboo" is hard to shake.
I'm a bit confused as to what Chol found in the bedside drawer. I'll put my specific question in a spoiler-tagged…
Part of my confusion comes from not being able to read Thai. Who was the divorce certificate for? I thought Chol's mother had died? Was Chol's dad and Prab's mom married before and got divorced? Or did Chol's dad plan to divorce his mom before she died? What were the rings for? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I just can't figure it out.
