I just came over to leave a comment and see if anyone felt the same way, I think I shouldn't anticipated too much for this drama because I'm not liking it as much I wish I would. I'd say period dramas is a recent obsession which im still picky about-right amount of political but not too political, romance and comedy so watching the trailer got mr excited. Esp when I saw the ML & FL cast. While the story is in no way bad, for some reason I'm fully not engaged at the same time, thought ill get better as I watch but im in ep 17 rn. I cant completely pinpoint the issue because there are some comedy

I did download it to watch it on the flight but didn’t get to it haha. I lowkey might just start with dream within a dream because I don’t think I’ll be able to binge watch for a bit. But all eps come jul 15 so still considering

hahaha, I actually wasn't into period dramas, but I've come to realise I like them but very specific genre, because I liked my journey to you and the prisoner of beauty so been trying to find dramas with strong FL political but not too political hahah

I absolutely agree, I was hooked in the beginning , but midway the plot did melt down however, there were good scenes, twists and turns till the end but im disappointed as I loved it so much the first half
I started off absolutely loving it but somewhere midway onwards I dont know if I liked how the plot went, while it did proceed to have some good scenes the plot on an overall did water down.
At first I didnt understand the Fl mother arc, the mother claimed that she was helping the Fl by kicking her out of the capital but the FL had a near death experience or rather was dying everyday for the last 17 years, Even though I understand she couldn't go to save her daughter she could have sent someone to keep an eye on her after all he was close with yuwen, but I guess it was to show how the mother was so drowned in her hatred.
I know it was trying to go for the women focus and im here for it but, I dont know if making all the women innocent at the end made sense the me. of eg yushan mom did convince to her to get married knowing that the husband is abusive and crazy. I think they should have made the character not too extreme so that they turn over a new leaf or is punished.

I agree with the FL character, I wish they made her a stronger character in terms of maybe strategically planning. while I cant be specific as I watched it last year and dont remember the details, either I'm being picky or prioritise characters over plots. So I wasnt able to enjoy it as much as a lot of people did.
