If we go by the novel, it will be turned upside down. Han Ting will settle with some other woman while Ji Xing wallows in grief, lol. Han Ting literally said the same thing to Ji Xing, "You are already so rattled seeing me having dinner with other women, what will you do if I really moved on?" (paraphrasing, but the idea is same).
And that wakes Ji Xing up and they finally decide to talk it out and get back together. But before it could happen, Ji Xing gets kidnapped.

It was the USA in the novel. And no one spills the beans. Han Ting knows she went to the USA for training as suggested by the CEO of Hanhai-Xingchen so she can come back and take the VP position.

The kidnapping happens after she comes back. Han Ting does visit her once in the USA, where his iconic line, as I would say, was spoken. That's when they restart communicating better. It continues back in China. Then a few jealousies here and there on both sides, and finally they decide to talk further (to clear the air and officially get back together) when they are back in Beijing (they were at a convention in a different city when this talk happened).
Ji Xing goes back to Beijing first. Gets attacked.

She feels Ji Xing very easily got fooled and distrusted Han Ting.
She feels that all the efforts Han Ting put into the relationship were questioned unfairly just based on his views on love.
And a few other comments I can't recall off the bat.

HT didn't use XingChen as a smokescreen, it's what Chang He and Zeng Di think. And Zeng Di led JX to believe it as well.

I got a female friend to watch this drama; this was her first c-drama ever, and she is hooked.
I thought she would unconditionally side with Ji Xing on this break up, cause my friend is also going through a break up phase with her husband, but she surprised me. She is 100% on Han Ting's side. So much so that I had to play the lawyer for Ji Xing and defend her lol.

I personally feel both were at fault, and I had gotten into a hour long discussion with my female friend over this. 😂
