Typical, they had to use the "your father killed her father so you can't get married" - trope ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ I hope there's another story behind that, cause I really hate that trope and was hoping we could keep skipping out on the most common c-drama tropes. Also, I've quite like Old Xiao. Sure he's a politician, and probably won't win the "best dad" - award either, but he does seem to genuinely care for Qianfan, and did seem to accept that he was gonna marry Pan'er.
Okay, I applaud the one who suggested Chen Lian and Zhaodi as a couple. Even before they met, you saw it coming. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป After tonight's episodes I'm gonna say it's pretty safe to assume that that's where we're going ๐
Been asking myself who the best fighter โ๏ธ ?At this point I feel like Su Meng, Lei Sun, Di Fei Jing and probably…
I feel the other way around. WXS is still young, and has basically just gotten out to see the world. He hadn't even drawn his sword before meeting WR. It would bother me if he was the best fighter from the start, there's gotta be room for development.
After 14 episodes I somehow feel this drama writers is good at the supporting characters, there are so many exciting…
I like some of the supporting characters a lot more than the mains LOL Di Feijing is definitely my favorite, can't get enough of him. Lei Mei, Lei Chun, Fang Yingkan, the courtesan, all characters that I got interested in quite fast. The mains I've needed some time to "accept". SMZ might be the exception. I'm expecting the mains to develop a lot though, so it should definitely get better (with the possible exception of FL, but let's pray she also gets better by the end.)
Is it just me or the martial arts/fighting scenes are underwhelming? Thereโs lots of high speed slash and done…
I totally agree on this. It's still better than a lot of dramas, but not as good as I'd expect it to be for a real wuxia drama. But we can always do worse, so I'll try to be satisfied with it anyway
Why must the love story between SMZ and Lei Chun be doomed? ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ My heart aches for them ๐ and I actually…
I know, I love SMZ and LC and their sweet relationship ๐ญ I don't think I can handle jealous BCF (as far as I'm concerned, it's a bit ridiculous that he's so into her). Another thing I'm crying about: that BCF will turn dark and the nice brotherhood we have right now is also gonna go down the drain.... Too much heartbreak coming. ๐ฎโ๐จ
Really love this drama, far better than Who Rules The World which i dropped after watch 2 episodes. This is what…
It was a lot harder for me to get in to this series, WRTW got addictive really fast for me. But that wasn't really a wuxia drama either, it just borrowed some elements of it. As already mentioned by some, the main get away from WRTW are the main couple's chemistry and their healthy relationship, which is a rare thing to see in c-drama. And honestly, I think I prefer the acting of just about everyone in WRTW over this one. Or maybe not the "acting" either, just that the characters suit the actors better. Anyway, I started to get more hooked on this one after about 3 episodes, still haven't gotten very far. It's been forever since I've seen a real wuxia drama, and this is starting to look like it'll work for me. The fight scenes are unfortunately a bit disappointing, but so far there's a lot less flying going around than what we had in WRTW, so I'll still take it ๐
The beginning of first episode already showed that this story will have very sad ending ๐ญ ok I'm not ready…
I'm gonna hope they're just trying to trick us into thinking that it's gonna be a sad ending, and then surprise us with a happy one in the end anyway. Though I have a feeling I will hope in vain...
Been both a bit tired and a bit busy these couple of days, so I haven't had time to hang around. Just finished the 2 last episodes. I was happy that it was basically a happy ending (except for poor Han Pu ๐ญ), and that the show didn't implode on itself (I was really worried there for a while). It ended pretty much the way it was expected to, nothing more, nothing less. Which is almost the best one can hope for in c-drama land. I'll probably give the show 8 or 8,5, which is more than a passing grade for me. We have a terrific and healthy CP relationship, with no unnecessary breakups ridiculous misunderstandings or drawn-out angst just for the sake of drama, which was almost more than I'd hoped for. The story is a bit thin, and unfortunately the drama outside of the drama itself clearly affected the production, but I think they in the end held it together pretty well. A lot of good performances. Feng Chang was and remains my MVP, wish we could have gotten to see just a little bit more of him in the end as well. Qeen Baili, as hated as she was, still did an outstanding job of being the foe for the Yongzhou arc. Well, I don't really know what more I have to say? It's been a fun journey, and especially enjoyable with all of you here on MDL. May we meet again some time along the line.
May I please remind everyone, that if you intend to comment on things from the episodes, such as how it ended, mark your comments as spoilers. Not everyone has finished the show yet.
Thanks for sharing. Love YYโs deep voice. ๐ฅฐ Do they only dub costume dramas or also modern dramas?
Not much plot to it honestly (I almost didn't watch it for the very same reason) but the leads have great chemistry, I enjoyed the development of their relationship. Among the romance dramas it really stands out for me, no jealous love rivals, unnecessary misunderstandings and stuff like that, which you find in basically every other c-drama. Both Yang Yang and Reba did a good job in that one. The parts related to his work can be a bit boring at times, but the romance bit is ๐๐ป๐ฅ it's highly rated here on MDL for a reason. Just saying ๐
