She trashed all of the young actors/actresses performance except the one playing Businessman Liu. The veterans got her praises. Even on SOT she trashed all of the young actors acting (she said she dropped it at episode 4) so I guess Wang Xing Yue will not escape her wrath but I cannot agree with her on everything (I personally think WXY has huge potentials) : like she ranted on Moonshine and Valentine while praising only Victoria Song and the kids version actors when I personally think this is one of the best modern/fantasy dramas produced by China with a heartfelt OST/BGM and the acting all around was satisfying and it was Johnny Huang best role and performance of his career.
So even though I don't agree with her on everything I like her insights and she got trained in artistic things if I am not wrong. So I like to watch her vids and get some knowledges as well. I wish there will be more Chinese reviewers on youtube like her.

I don't think she specially likes LuHan but for example she thinks he did a good job in his drama starring WuLei. This is like Wang HeDi, she does not specially likes him but when he does good or shines (The Rational Life or LBFAD) she praises him but when he is sh.t (Only for Love) well she trashes him.

On Zhang Ling He she actually praised his performance in LBFAD and saw his potentials in Maiden Holmes if I am not wrong.

"Only for love" is doing numbers too 😌

Try it ! This is a short drama with limited budget and 0 traffic actor based on BiliBili original fanvideo. The director is a woman named Zhi Zou who directs short shows as a hobby.
She got some notable works under her belt such as the short dramas hits "Elder princess on top" (2022) and "Dong Lan Xue" (2023)

I don't force it on anyone. SOTKP fumbled the bag with the ZZ arc and how his character was treated while making XN absolutely unlikeable here. AALS didn't. My opinion : AALS wins the title.

An Ancient Love Song personally was top. An intriguing time travel drama done right. Now as I said it might not be to your liking but for me SOTKP fumbled the bag at some point so cannot win the title for me.

"An Ancient Love Song" remains the undisputate best costume drama of the year (they deserve their 8.6 on Douban). At least writer over there was kind enough and makes me care for the characters, especially the FL, til the end.

An Ancient Love Song is time travel drama done right with a female lead perfectly written from A to Z. Sorry the "breakup" scene in SOTKP was unacceptable for me. Female lead in "AALS" remains the best in a costume show of the year 2023.

In the novel everything make sense. The mutual and respectful breakup btw ZZ and XN suffer none of the BS they tried hard and sell in the drama. In the original work we can understand the bagage is way too heavy for both of them to continue. Therefore the seperation had a solid basis and the writer showed respect for both ML and FL.
Another thing I wanna point out, If ZZ can love XN when she is at her peak corruption and when she is a manipulative shady empress and can accept to lose it all to save her, it means ZZ is not as unflexible and stiff as people try hard and make him to be. He can also understand people various sides and circomstances and can also make concessions. Therefore the disrespect and coldness he received while he was mourning removed all of the interest I had in the show. That was utter sh.t writting done here to crash and diminish a character that oh so did not deserve it.

The link below show somebody's views that are similar to my thoughts on what totally prevented SOTKP from being much better than what it ended up to be. The writting, again (cdramaland got a serious issue with writting), failed something that could have been much deeper and impactful. I lost respect and interest in XN cause director thought it was a good idea to do that shit.
I know 2023 is not done yet but I personally don't think there will be a costume drama that will beat "An Ancient Love Song" this year. SOT and SOTKP could have done it but somewhere in the making, directors of both dramas lost it.
