Sure ! But XLH is anything but not your typical cdramaland FL ! Girl almost got killed by the emperor of Shiuyitan and knowing that killing her would harm DFQC cause of that curse spell do you think he gonna let her stay where people literally want her dead ? If anything that team went the easy way in writting her ! If you tell me they put effort in making Rong Hao for example or even DanYin I would say yes.
And also I don't favor women continuously being portrayed as underraged children that talk as if they are two ! There is nothing cute about it ! Why do you think I liked Zhao Jin Mai character in "Reset" for example ? Her character was far from being a strong "bully" girl and she had her weaknesses and she was gentle matter of fact.

The good thing about this show is the team put some efforts into fleshing the supporting roles and making us understand them also and into details (look at the scene when XLH and CH speak in front of the statue on the Xilan land ruins. The statue opens its eyes at certain points). They try and make every lil thing alive like our cells in our bodies that constantly do their things for us to be alive.
avenuex is really hard to please so you know the drama is worth trying when it hits her
Lol on her latest review of LLTG one can see on the comment sections people are so hurt by her view about it (it is clear she was not impressed by it)! I understand them and can relate cause I felt the same when she trashed a drama like "Moonshine and Valentine" that I found was really really well done and acted by the whole cast and sucked me into its univers (a lot of modern romantic cdramas can't relate).
Wow ! Imagine that powerful warlord that want a rematch with his female rival that managed to tame him at some point only for him to gradually and surely fall under her feminine charms 😊😏. They would be like Mommy and Daddy Yang. Cdramas PDs a new type of FL is calling oh !

But Orchide acted stupid at several instances like the 2nd time when she kissed ML to swap body knowing that not only her shuiyitan emperor want her dead in her original body and wants DFQC dead as well while putting both of them in danger in the Moon realm ! And when she was adamant in waking his emotions up acting almost invasive (granted she had good intentions) forgetting that it can put the moon people lives in jeopardy. Don't get me started on DFQC lierally putting an animal just in front of her for her not to see it ! At several instances she embodied the typical cdrama dumbo FLs with the voice of a toddler and acting like a toddler that have been overpromoted lately ! She really matured by episode 28 cause she love DFQC deeply.
I think if he was paired with Chidi she would be like one of my fav FL Song Ning and LBaFD being a different univers from Hua Xu Yin I am sure we would have got a happy ending and it would have been a beautiful mature (somethimg rare lately) lovestory btw a Female and Male warrior that will act together to bring peace with even more epic fighting scenes.
So imagine Orchide was written like Huang Rong mom I would have given this drama straight 10/10 and would have beaten "Reset" in 2022 cdramas ranking for me !

Please check on mini drama "night out of love with you" if you wanna see an untypical heroine functioning in an untypical world and paired with an untypical ML. Drama aint perfect (mini drama on budget) but it got 7.9 on MDL for what it is for a reason.

Guys if you wanna watch a mini drama with not-typical FL and which is a parody of what Cdramaland has been serving us I strongly recommend you to watch "Night out of love with you". It is not perfect cause mini drama on budget but trust me you will be entertained ! It got 7.9 on MDL (better than some proper dramas with more money and traffic actors) for a reason.
He is a legendary HK writer that wrote "Legend of the Condor heroes", "Demi Gods Semi devil", "Smiling wanderer", "Heavenly sword dragon saber" etc... he is considered as one of the founding fathers of the wuxia genre. His works have been adapted on TV myriads times. His female leads were very very far from the typical naive toddlers or innocent bubbly mary sues that slip and trip with have been served lately. Guy gave us females like Zhao Min, Ren Ying Ying, Huang Rong etc...
Guys how come Jin Yong that wrote his novels when we were not even projects could write enticing, smart, mature female characters with layers (granted Xiao Long Nu is an aloof flower vase whose biggest traits were her fighting skills and beauty and Mu Wang Qin was a flower vase book smart at martial arts) more than 6 decades ago while today we are served caricatures ?
