Wang Xing Yue hard carried TWD. And I agree with you it was supposed to be a low key drama only there for a group of young actors. Unfortunately after he picked the drama and started shooting for it another lowkey drama that was there to rebound the career of another actress aired and became a super hit which raised the pressure (and the number of haters) against him.
My opinion Julia Xiang is not female lead material. She lacks it factor. I don't trust iqiyi but hopefully things will turn out for the best for him.

Thank you : The production house 'upcoming legend" needs to improve their drama-making skills and their storytelling. They also need to study the general public mindset while listening to critics. TWD failed at hooking viewers from the 1st episodes because the durectors and screenwriters made bad decision and as a result TWD ended up being a wasted opportunity. Hopefully they reflect and improve. Wang Xing Yue being in their show probably helped it garner benefit. They won't be always so lucky. And they need to learn how to write female leads.
About WXY next project the only thing I feel regretful about is that it is under iqiyi. Since the "coroner diary" data inflation fiasco (cause among other reasons guys wanna make Ao Rui Peng happen) I am aware they have no qualm in manipulating things depending on their moods and the actors. That platform is a whole mess and it gives me bad energy. Nevertheless I hope WXY will make the best out of it. Otherwise I like that this is a challenging project for WXY and he gets to play with Elvira Cai and Wang Qian Yuan. Hopefully he can start and immerse himself in the role and the environment he will work.
I hope WXY will act in a movie one day like actors like WuLei, Ci Sha, Yushi, Jackson Yee have been doing now.

But nowadays it is risky to do S/S+ dramas because of how cold the market has been recently. Now I wonder how female general (big IP big project) and Chen Fei Yu's latest release are doing for the investors and the plateforms. Things must not be smelling like a rose now.
The rise of the short drama sector doesn't help. Something like Ding Feng Bo is more beneficial now. A low budget long drama with a decent plot led by the right main leads. Now I feel there will be a push for more A-level projects production.

Wow !!! For real ? Iqiyi and the prod house must be thrilled now. And that's the reason why YuZheng made a post where he was celebrating the fact the drama got upgraded to an S level drama on Yunhe for example. People said the presence of WXY helped a lot but I think a huge chunk of viewers stayed because the plot was also unpredictable. And the revelation about the big baddie came as a shock. This is this production house very first "big " project. I think they got potentials and good ideas (I like that Ding Feng Bo wasn't plagued with romance and the drama had a cool visual) but they must improve on their script writting level and they need and better study viewers mindset and what they like and dislike so they can have bigger success in the future.
