All jokes aside though - the actor is good and I really hope he gets more mainstream roles. I'd love to see him in an action role! I can imagine him crouching down (those thighs!) and looking round a wall with those intense eyes and showing off his forearms gripping a gun.

When they made up by the lotus pond. YIng Yuan’s “Don’t forgive me. But dont let go of me” broke my heart 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I felt all his loneliness and love for Yan Dan then. And how Yan Dan’s lips trembled when she asks him “Then why did you erase my memories of us?” 😭😭😭😭 I had a had a huge lump in my throat and had to hit my chest a couple of times to release my breath and take a break before continuing the episode.

I was thinking how sometimes, the actor says one word and there’s a whole sentence that just passes by in the blink of an eye as the subs and other times, we get a word that doesn’t mean what it should! Oh to be a polyglot!

I am also guessing the FL was pretty sheltered growing up and didn’t need to do much other than learn the piano, embroider etc etc if she was betrothed to marry already. It was very rare for girls to think for themselves or make decisions back in those days, so ofcourse she would have had zero clue on how to use logical analysis to arrive at conclusions. It would be all over-the-top emotional.

And yes, Tian Yi would have been allowed to think that harassment was okay and even to an extent, necessary to survive. I would bet he’s seen his father hit his mother judging from how she is okay with all the violence going around. Also considering that this is a military family, violence was part of the norm and judging between what was appropriate and not would have hardly happened.

Yes, true, this reminds me a lot of stuff I used to watch and read when I was in school! I think the fact that it’s set in the republican era is what makes it enjoyable as I don’t think a modern setting would have worked this well 😀

I am sorry you were triggered by what you must have read as completely blasé responses to what seems to be a genuine concern for you. I hope some of the more serious comments here have placated what you were trying to raise - which is that abusive behavior in any way, form or manner should not be condoned in real life and neither should an abuser be idolized just because they’re good looking. Domestic violence IS real and the media plays a huge role in conditioning people to believe it is okay IF they are not able to judge for themselves🙂

Having said all of the above, I am also going to say that it is not okay to attack someone personally, even online, just because you were triggered and hurt ❤️ Calling someone “problematic” and “gross” and “harmful” is not the way to get your point across and I hope you realise that 🙂 I can see that you were not passing judgement but rather lashing out because you felt unheard.
