I can understand how you would have had some pretty heavy feelings at the end of 59 and then, kind of being forced into taking a complete 180deg turn with those feelings once the specials dropped - even though you were probably still processing the previous ones and not ready to suddenly feel all sunshine-y and rainbows! Perfectly valid! Everyone needs their own time to grieve {hugs}

Perhaps when/or if you watch it again in the future when you're ready to you might feel differently. I can see how you really want to see it in a positive light and the fiasco with the specials has sort of lessened the experience for you :)

I’m waiting for a friend who is watching it all in one go to finish it to see how she feels as opposed to watching it while it aired and with the break between ep59 and 60-61. I see what you mean about the dissonance which is why I am totally curious to see how it comes across to a later viewer.

I am a bit skeptical about Netflix subtitles though as they do tend to remove the subtleties to be able to cater to the masses - which imho is sad but understandable. I think Viki subs are done by volunteers who are native speakers or know the language well enough to translate the nuances and that makes the overall experience quite enjoyable 🙂🙂

Aww thanks for that ☺️ Tang Zhou is precisely why I think there is a lot of the more “human” side of CY in YY 😅 And this doesn’t happen with any modern day characters - only the fantasy/historical/costume/etc ones. Could be cos I grew up on stories of gods and goddesses and kings and powerful beings and always had a fascination for them

I see the humility and dedication and commitment CY has as very YY traits and feel like he fits the role perfectly precisely because he is similar to YY 😅 My brain will then imagine YY being dorky and clumsy than CY being regal and strict hahahahaha :))) And it's because I know this about myself that I keep a distance from the actor playing a character I fall in love with until I can get some perspective between the two. Or else, I will forever see CY as YY and won't be able to enjoy any of his other characters. Which would be a complete dishonor to all the hard work he puts into all his characters equally 😍

You know, I’m staying away from looking at the “real” life of CY cos I don’t want to get influenced by it when I see him in dramas. I did that with XZ and WY and now, I cannot watch any of their dramas other than Untamed 😞 It’s not cos I ship them or anything but cos I saw so much of them during my Untamed obsession phase that they sort of superimposed themselves as their characters in my brain and now I cannot buy into any of their other characters. I can see that happening to me with YY and CY (even more than SF) so I deliberately stay away cos I so want to watch and enjoy all his dramas.
