Not gonna lie, I like the “detective” parts of the story🤭
Also fyi, I rewound the scene where YY was cradling YD and telling off the attendant for not leaving. I shall leave it to your good self to take a guess why 😁
Omo Emotionally Enlightened Dijun is yummy! And so naughty with the flirting and the touching and the teasing.…
I know! I appreciate YY for being so forthright without being pushy and telling her he would give her space and time and wait for her.
Their characters are written so well. And both CY's and YZ's subtle expressions during their encounters are *chef's kiss*. So multi dimensional and layered !
What question do you have? I'd be interesting to discuss about it
Let's see if I know enough to help you with some of these :)
- The Night Forgetting River is accessible to all as that is where immortals have to go to have their memories scrubbed before descending to the mortal realm for their trials there. I believe it was in Hades (which was one of the realms that ceased to exist after the demon-deity war) or somewhere close to it. One of the requirements is that immortals have to walk across the river and then, fall into it and be "cleansed" of their current existence and be reborn as mortals. Since YD had to have her memories forcefully removed, she couldn't go through the process the right way and so was turned into a spirit. And she had to fall into the river in order to be "reborn" - which is probably why YY didn't use the gate to send her. Also, it seems like the gate is there more to keep the demons inside from going out as it's guarded by all those evil spirits.
- When YY fell from heaven, his physical body turned mortal and in order to protect this body from all the immortal power he held inside due to him being a Superior Deity, a Celestial Vest was created around him. I know it's a bit difficult to comprehend as it's shown like his blood vessels but its like he has a vest that is incorporated into his being as it's a spiritual idea more than physical. This vest gets damaged (the red lines on his chest) and he needs the power of the 4 artifacts to help repair it. When they show him absorbing the artifacts, it's actually the power that he's absorbing and not just literally taking it into his body. It's more of his ability to control the artifacts and use their power thing.
- YanDan's hairpin is something I haven't paid attention to! Now that you mention it, I am curious to know what happened to it as well!
- TZ, as a mortal, does lose his power because he destroys his cultivation base when rescuing YD from his sect. Because of this, and due to the fact that the 3 artifacts were taken away from him, his mortal body was unable to hold all his immortal power and the celestial vest was breaking apart quickly. Which is why YD decided to kill off his mortal body and have his artifact find him and restore his immortal self.
- The 'kun' was not the real one from heaven realm. It was a manifestation of what remaining power TZ had cultivated within himself as a mortal.
- My guess is that as his parents seem like they were born into their original spirit forms seeing as to how high-ranking and powerful they both were, he would be a combination of deity and Asura. His Asura powers have been buried/dampened because of his cultivation as a deity. The sword wraith imparted the practice of the Eternal Darkness to him so I am guessing YY has now started cultivating his Asura powers.
I hope some of this helped and I would love for someone to correct whatever misunderstandings I may have :)
Well YY 2.0 is all set to rebel so he does seem like he'll be willing to "go big" :) And I also like that I know he'll be big on consent, too. Which makes him even more endearing.
Thank you :) These acronyms confuse me and I actually spent a few minutes trying to figure it out before deciding to make my life easier and just ask :)
I feel like all the angst was perfectly justified cos it was offset by the total lack of clear communication on both their parts. They were both functioning on the basis of assumptions they made of each other that were always so far off the mark!!! But now that YD has made her stance clear and YY has made his side CRYSTAL clear, there is a tacit understanding of where the other stands which imho is solid ground to work up on. Lots of life lessons here :)
I have already planned a rewatch after it ends!!! It's made me fall in love with Xianxia dramas all over again…
I think I saw Love and Destiny after Ten Miles of Peach Blossom cos it's set in the same world. The events in LAD take place earlier to TMOPB even though the drama came out later. I remember skipping a lot of the scenes just to get to the story but this time, I am savoring every episode and every scene.
I've actually just had an epiphany! Maybe I skipped scenes cos when I was watching it all in one go, it felt like a lot to take in all at once but now that I know the main story, its become easier to focus on the individual moments rather than the whole. It happened with Love and Redemption as well. I loved it so much more when I saw it for the 2nd time at it's pace rather than pushing through just to find out if SiFeng and XuanJi do get together or not :)
Maybe once IS is over and you have parked the heightened emotions YY and YD's story has brought on, you could give Love and Destiny a shot?
This has to be my favourite xianxia drama of 2022 unless I get some even more amazing fall/winter drama! Also,…
I have already planned a rewatch after it ends!!! It's made me fall in love with Xianxia dramas all over again (which is one of my fav genres especially cos of its similarity to my cultural identity which helps me understand it better) and I am rewatching Love and Destiny on the side. I enjoy it so much more now than I did when I watched it first. I think the discussions here also help a lot - the nuances that people notice and put out here actually make me appreciate it more :)
I am very intrigued by the way everybody (in all the realms) talks about Xuan Ye. Seems like he was(is) highly intelligent, resourceful and a pioneer of many of the spells in dark arts (the Eternal Darkness and the Universe Enchantment). And he had that super powerful time-reversing artifact. I can imagine him being sauve and charming to boot. Looks like he was both revered and despised by many! I am curious to know his story and how he was affected by his relationship with RQ.

I hope you enjoy LAD and I'll be happy to know what you think when you're watching it :)

It just makes sense that YY is his offspring :)
