Cha Ji Hyun or a character like her is very common in Kdramas. Or even Cdramas. However she is VERY likable and relatable because of the very fine acting and its very natural style of acting.
I read that the character knew what kind of actress he was looking for when he was casting for this role.
The main leads are very natural on screen together. I know Kdramas like their opposites but here the opposites are very subtlety played. Its really good. I am really enjoying this drama.
Cha Hi Yun is a very classy character. She is dignified yet not downtrodden. I don't know how Park Ji Hyun is managing to make someone who I see in so many dramas so distinctively memorable. The acting is very subtle and nuanced.
I was a bit surprised at myself. I finished ep 30 yesterday and was feeling frustrated because the romance still hasn't happened.
So I went to ep 35 and 36 today. Look. The drama ended. I like both actors. This was filmed years ago and if it didn’t have some of the actors I liked I would have dropped it. It wasn't memorable. Its light. It did its job but its done and dusted. The actors have gone on to bigger and better projects.
What surprised me though was Jun's parents. She was still terrible, absolutely terrible still in ep 30 but then everything was good in ep 35 so I am looking forward to seeing what happened in ep 31-34. The actress who plays the mother has a great body and she can move. She somehow has made this drama memorable for me. The 3rd couple roman e was meh. The 2nd couple's romance was even worse. The ex- girlfriends of both leads being partner with the FL has been the biggest takeaway for me for this drama.
So the venture capital and Jun's mother are what made me smile at the end of ep 36.
The main couple romance was non- existent. However the housemate part of the drama was totally lovely. I cannot unsee TJC being an actor acting his role but totally, totally making me cringe watching it. Thankfully that phase of his resume has passed I hope.

Liu Rui Lin's acting is still the same. He still plays supporting roles. I really winced when Li Yi Fei did the whole pout and the whole lower jaw moving back and forth pretending to be angry scene. The writers and director could have done it better. Its like asking a good actor to pretend to be a toddler. It just doesn’t work. The writers just destroyed 2 good actors in a romance drams and spent the whole drama helping the 2FL at her work. Shesh.
At the end of the day besides the good writing, pacing, directing, lighting, music, supporting characters, acting.... at the end of it all I like the main leads individually.
It took me awhile but I think its because whether they are in a scene together or separately; I like how well rounded their characters are. I am happy they found each other but its such a relief to NOT have an idiotic main lead I have to support just because they are the main leads.

Dynasty killing plotline dramas take up too much time. Easy killings feels like the writers were lazy. So its bette to save the screentime for my main couple. I have seen way too many dramas where if the Emperor is dead the main couple have to live a reclusive, obscure life away from family.

The AI has gotten worse as the episodes progressed. He is now a grey- ish mushroom coloured complexion and it doesn’t fit the neck. Once you see it you can't unsee it. I mean his scenes are so boring that I don't even pay attention to him talking so I am just looking at the face.

See the ratings. Extremely well paced drama and I am usually a grumpy viewer for historical dramas.
