Arghh... I visited Xian before watching this drama! Would be been so poignant to retrace their steps!
Their reincarnated selves have the same personality. 11 is doing the 'chasing' again whilst he is is still straightlaced and jetlagged lol. Unfortunately in the modern world there is no chance for fighting and swordplay scenes so he lacks that 'killer aura'
Ok. Unpopular opinion: I tried to ignore it but since I can't wait for Ep.3 I had to rewatch the first 2 episodes…
The kiss was a shocker. Though implied with a tiptoe its still unnecessary to the plot ( am sure their reunion can do without it) . The conniving side of her though its quite a realistic portrayal of her given how from the moment she was born she was living off the streets - her dad being the way he is, and Chun Gi having to fend for herself and her dad despite being blind the whole 9 years? Having experienced scarcity you grab what you can.
I can't wait...I wish they would just release all episodes at once. I wonder if they will venture into that abandoned building where his previous self wrote her name on a dusty mirror. That would be so poignant
Just wanted to know so asking , Is Allen Ren famous in china or is he one of the struggling actors out there or…
There's a photo of them kissing in this drama though. Is that a 'lip double'? I think they can consider getting a stunt double for Allen Ren where skinship is concerned. Its a simple win win win for everyone.
What was Cong Rong's role in the book and contribution to the story? He just seems like a wallflower in the drama.…
Well, after that they interacted a bit more after that but its hardly romantic as the novel ended with some business related matters wrapping up (nothing steamy happened happened between XM and SX lol)
Likely for Chun gi to become blind again if the demon 'collects' his eyes back. As it is I think Haram will be…
Thats the bit that doesn't add up for me yet as well. Hoping for more explanation as the drama progresses. The goddess took away the demon's eyes when he possessed Haram to 'cripple' the demon's powers. But at the last scene of epi 2, the demon was unleased and could 'see' where Chun gi was in the forest and he said that he wants to take his eyes back. Maybe the demon can see through his minds eye but the eyes that Chun Gi has is the one that gives the demon ability to control people. Remember the scene in the beginning where the Shaman said don't look at the demon's eyes? Then the person who did see the demon's eyes went mad and was partly possessed.

Btw I think SX in the novel and XM behaved a lot more like ppl in the 20s - not as self possessed . Given this is Mark Chao and Betty I think they had to modify the 2nd half of the drama otherwise they would need to cast a younger FL and ML for the behaviours to make sense.

( i hope my memory serves me right, its been a while since i read the novel)
SX and XM had a duller romance in the novel. Things were almost the same in the drama up until the annual dinner, then the novel had a different change at least where romance is concerned.
- SX rejected XM in the annual dinner. After that, XM went to the UK to work for a few years and SX was fighting her own corporate battles - God knows how but when XM returned he was engaged to He Yao ( the novel did not cover their relationship- things were mostly from SX point of view) but he was not documented - He Yao cancelled the engagement for obvious reasons. - Only when at the end there were rumours in the office that SX was the President's mistress that XM appeared in the office to grab SX by the hand and take her away tacitly showing everyone that she is 'with him' - so that was their ending.
Maybe at one point in this drama Hong Chun Gi will be blind again and Haram will see again.
Likely for Chun gi to become blind again if the demon 'collects' his eyes back. As it is I think Haram will be able to see again now that the butterfly seal is gone ( whats with the butterfly tattoos in korean dramas these days, is this a new product placement lol) The demon manifested now can actually see.
The subbing speed is phenomenal. This drama is coming along really nicely , I love the cheongsam/ qipao and hope they spend time dwelling on the finer details of it when the imperial dynasty ends
To be honest I don't like the half bald head era ,, I'm superficial I know I like handsome boys with lush hair…
Don't worry, its part republican era so their nice hair will appear again. The Qing dynasty hairstyle really turns even handsome men into something generic - my main issue with Qing dynasty dramas as well! Tang dynasty has the best fashion alongside Ming dynasty spring/summer collection

In the novel, he was clearly interested in SX and he did encounter her in the same manner as the drama. However he had more airtime and worked with her during a business trip together...ah....he..... also....ahem....slept with her hahahaha....she was drunk, he wasn't...Fortunately in that alternate novel universe she wasn't with XM yet because during the annual dinner she kinda rejected XM leading to an ambiguous couple of years ( he went abroad) .
Towards the end, there was also a rumoured scandal that SX was the President's mistress due to some misunderstanding so He Cong Rong arranged for a tabloid expose that an actress was in the vicinity of the President's hotel room , basically suggesting that the actress was the President's mistress and not SX. He Cong Rong proceeded to declare his interest towards SX by sending 999 flowers to the office.

Love interest and protege of the President, his dad sent him to be mentored by the President. SX's love interest...not the President's lol. He went on to be quite formidable in the real estate arena. Helen and him were just birds of the same feather ( only in Helen's eyes mind you haha) coz she felt they were both oversea students who came back to china and are a class above the local locals.
Spoiler alert below on his meatier role in the novel. Its quite shocking
I feel if they had planned for 2 seasons from the get go, a good cut off point would have been when SX was offered a head office promotion. Then the ending of s1 could have been angled at some form of a recognition of her talents ( her adventure in a subsidiary company ends, what new adventure awaits in the head offce) and she isn't on a bad note with XM yet, and there is an opening relationship line with He Cong Rong ( him sleeping in the empty room during the annual dinner should be a foreboding of his relationship with SX...its a standard drama trope - eg Meteor Garden lol ).
Then in S2 there could have been more corporate subplots, her taking down different 'villains' , He Cong Rong plays 2ML like in the novel, XM and her has some challenges, etc .
Now however, to maintain another 40 episodes would require probably a different drama feel - like how s2 of Nirvana in Fire differed from its 1st season.
She just didn't want to fight her feeling of dissatisfaction anymore. And she feels weighed down by her boyfriend/…
In the novel the CEO is divorced. He is basically single here I'd say.
Have you seen epi 40? Our gut feel materialised. When SX visited Hong Mei , her last sentence to Hong Mei and the way she looked at the door plate number speaks volumes. And the CEO visited Hong Mei at her apartment for noodles...... The CEO's proposition to her in the car wasn't a career proposition i guess. As part of good corporate governance he would now need to ddeclare his relationship with HM to the board of directors haha

I didn't know the ancients did chin ups with roof beams lol....i guess something has got to replace broody shower scenes. lol
