I generally hate straight wife-chasing because I'm a fan of women saying fuck you abusive men, and finding their own way and new love. This drama is right up my ally.

But, I am a fan of "wife-chasing" bls (but they are all over the place, like dramas, novels etc. It depends on the story and the reason for the break-up), so if u want recs, I can give them.

Wife chaser stories are all about "you left me after I was abusive, so I want you back". I like them because the ML's are almost jackasses and they never take their exes feelings - to leave the abusive ML - into consideration. For me, it's all about how much ML suffers (the worse the better) and how much effort he puts to bring the partner back. Also, it depends on how bad the guy was initially. A spineless wimp like LC, might get a 2nd chance if he is willing to work for it, but someone like, say Wang Qian (Shen Yi's husband) deserves to be set on fire.

He would never have been a good match for Mudan. But someone like Sheng Yi would have been good for him - a nice quiet housewife, who just wants to take care of her family and kids, while her husband works some 9-to-5 office job and comes home to warm bath and cooked meals.

Same. I am a fan of wife-chasing stories and the ex-husband would have made a good chaser-ML, in another drama. He was a spineless wimp at the start, but even before the Princess first showed up, you can see he was sorta starting to warm up to MuDan (like sending her ginger tea which was "accidentally" brewed for the princess, like some verbally abusive tsundere). Without his parents being his parents, it might have been a long road, but he probably would have come around.

idk about brother, but I'm shipping Shengyi and Mudan. And doctor Lv and warrior Fu (basically ancient chinese version of Petrichor lmao)

If we were to highlight the male lead's charm by forcibly diminishing the [element of] female lead's independence, then, in the context of the drama, this would mean every time He Wei Fang faces a challenge and has to deal with it, Jiang Chang Yang descends from the sky [to save her], interrupting her efforts. That would signal distrust and disrespect for the female lead's capabilities.

And this is EXACTLY why I don't like watching het dramas. Why does a woman need ML to interfere and solve her problems? Why can't she do it by herself. If she needs help, she will ask. If she needs emotional or financial support, she will ask. If she needs a favour, she. will. ask. If she doesn't ask, it means she is more than capable of handling her problems. So, why are you stifling her capability?

Gossip sure, but it's surface level. When push comes to shove, women do help other women, but here's the thing. If u hate women, and if u have "I'm not like other girls, I'm one of the guys" attitude, they won't. Because they can't count you, so why would they extend their hand for you. And it's fine if someone doesn't extend their hand after you've helped them, somebody else will. The universe has a way of returning your karma back you.

Personally, I think option 3 is the best way to go

MHN has a similar story, but more indianized. SRK is an army officer who goes undercover as a student to protect the estranged daughter of his boss (mainly because an adult male teacher can't hang around a female student without getting flagged). He falls for his teacher, and while she does like him back, she keeps things professional until his identity is exposed and he is no longer her student.

IDK why this guy is going in as a student, since his mission is more about finding lost gold, so wouldn't a teacher have an easier time snooping around the place, than a student? I guess this just intrigues me even more lmao.

as a middle-aged uncle who goes back to college because "he had to drop out due to family responsibilities, and now he wanted to continue his education".
