I'm really loving this drama and it's again proof to me that we should never listen to what people are saying online - I saw so many ppl claim the chemistry between the leads in SL was off, but I realize now they were all fans of LOTFG and were trying to downplay SL for some reason. Personally, I tend to not enjoy cdramas where the couple falls in love quite soon in the story and become lovey-dovey as these plots are usually a bit boring to me, but in SL the leads have such great chemistry and all the scenes between them including the skinship is so natural and sweet that I'm really loving it so much. The dynamic between the leads is so refreshingly cute and fun, and has zero awkward stiff cringeworthy moments like in many other cdramas.
Just started it and I'm happy to have found a Cdrama that has finally a different more unique storyline than the majority that has been released this year. I'm also certain that all the people who say Song Yi has a "mature look" are haters bc she has an absolute baby face??? I wasn't familiar with her and I actually thought she was younger than Cheng Lei, now I saw her age and she definitely looks years younger! Crazy how people will be dragging actors online with absolute untrue statements
As far as I'm concerned, Bai Lu is the actress with the BEST chemistry with any co-actor, and Cheng Lei is basically her male counterpart bc so far I haven't seen him *not* having amazing chemistry with his co-actresses as well. I was hoping they'd be paired at one point because I knew the chemistry would be over the top. I just hope the story does them justice, hopefully it's an interesting plot with complex characters and relationships.
Also, how did Wen and Yi find themselves so poor and losing connection with their son? Did they join another movement?…
These are two different time periods and different historical events tho, the Great Leap Forward happened late 50s and Cultural Revolution started mid 60s.
Guys, should I watch Shadow Love or LOTFG first? I'd rather watch the one drama first that is less good and then watch the better one after, so which would you say is better? Bc on MDL they have a very similar rating (which btw is incredible! All Cheng Leis recent dramas seem to be very good)
I'm enjoying this drama quite a lot. It's more light hearted than most other Chinese historical/fantasy dramas…
lol you must not have seen most of them then. The one with Yang Mi was ridiculous. She wore eyeliner and looked absolutely like a princess but everyone was "shocked" when she turned out to be a man

What annoys me the most about cdramas when they attempt to do time travel and do the whole it was a dream because…
the reason why they put a ban on these type of past life/time travel cdramas is bc there were kids who believed they would wake up in a new timeline if they k*** themselves and they jumped off a building. that's why the chinese govt put these rules up.
Overall I liked it, there where some parts that I really really loved, but the final arc was a let down and many…
I honestly hated how we got so little screen time between the leads in the last episodes, the whole amnesia/childlike BJS trope ruined the drama for me and I was honestly annoyed at how they gave the old sect member more screen time in the final episode than the actual leads. The drama had so much potential but the way they wrapped it up was confusing, the time travel part wasn't properly explained, the leads had only one short scene to actually solve their feud (BL made up for some of the disappointment with her 10/10 acting talent) and BJS basically turned into a secondary character in the final episodes, which honestly made no sense to me why the script writer and director thought that was a good idea. It was a 9.5 for me but by the end it's a 8.0 rating for me personally
Overall I liked it, there where some parts that I really really loved, but the final arc was a let down and many things were so disappointing that I even lowered my rating :/ many things weren't executed well but overall the theme was very refreshing and Bai Lu's acting was flawless
thanks for sharing your POV, that definitely makes sense in terms of breaking the ice. if the writers had more episodes, maybe they would've taken a different route for this forgiveness arc but with the limited time, this was probably the easiest and quickest way to solve their feud. it wasn't a satisfying resolution to me and i'm a bit bummed that we lost 2 episodes worth of "real" BJS who knows what happened to HRY, but yeah it is what it is :D
yes, i agree that this was possibly the writer's attempt at an "easy" icebreaker and maybe they didn't have enough episodes to make the forgiveness arc smoother and more interesting. but i was just a bit disappointed to lose at least 2 episodes with the "real" BJS having to face HRY after finding out the truth of what happened
it felt like a filler episode with so many background stories from side characters and barely screen time of the ml with fl :/ also, even tho BJS is cute i'm not enjoying this whole childlike behavior, i find it very weird tbh. It was like HRY was his mom. I just can't picture a couple having this type of dynamic, idk why in cdramas they love to make one lead into a child with these tropes lol i can't wait for BJS to regain his true self bc i was sooo enjoying their dynamics together prior to his amnesia arc :(
Yes, The Seven Relics of Ill Omen and Prisoner of Beauty! Both shows have better script and plot than the slow…
it's not a misunderstanding, their child died. that goes way beyond a small misunderstanding. usually, when people don't like a drama they just stop watching it instead of whining about it on and on. not every drama will cater to your personal taste
