I struggled with the exaggerated sound effects in the first few episodes, but after around episode 5 they used less sound effects. Now I'm rewatching and the sound effects don't even bother me anymore lol.

So, Ming Yi is supposed to be really smart and especially in the last few episodes JBZ has constantly highlighted how she always has a plan formed in her mind etc. So the writers keep making this point that MY is so smart. But when JBZ showed her the birth mark his mother left on his forehead, she didn't notice that it looks exactly like the mark her "mother"/the Empress has on her forehead. We then see both the Emperor and the Empress in Ep 29 and 30 with this exact mark on the forehead, and Ming Yi also sees the Empress again after JBZ showed her his mark, but she still doesn't connect the dots that JBZ is the Empress' baby who she gave away..? When actually, Ming Yi should've recognized the mark as soon as it showed up on his forehead.

There's a huge mistake in the drama that is pissing me off a little bit, it's a HUGE spoiler (from the novel) so don't read if you don't want to know anything that hasn't been revealed in Ep 30:

Park Bogum was 24 when he filmed Love in the Moonlight and Kim Yoo Jung was 16, and back then there were lots of people saying they were even dating. Also Kim Sae Ron was 16 and paired with Yoon Shi Yoon who was 30 when they filmed Secret Healer. It's all wrong, so don't act as if Korea is above doing these creepy pairing

I only watched the scenes of the main leads and skipped the rest too. I wonder if the actor of SML had something in his contract that obligated the drama to include a certain amount of scenes with him, because the quality of the storyline actually went down because of the excess of SML scenes. The rest of the drama is so good though, so I'm not too upset

I'm honestly upset at how many scenes they included of *TW* Situ Ling in ep 27 while we only got a few seconds with JBZ. what the helly

For me one of the best Ji Bozai moments was in Ep 27 when he upon hearing people slander the female ruler because of her gender said "I've spent most of my life as a prisoner. I barely know anything about the law. If anyone speaks such filth in front of me, I'll kill them on the spot." And that ladies and gentleman, is a feminist man who won't put up with slander against women, no matter if it's his wife or another woman. JBZ is honestly my favorite male protagonist of 2025
