I find your post very contradictory. You say: "It also doesn’t mean that we judge characters only by cute moments.…
Of course you can post your opinions, but also anyone can rebute and disagree with them. That's what a discussion forum is about. And again it's not about whose opinion is superior, but it's about understanding the contextual importance of the show and not focusing only on the personal satisfaction you did or didn't get from the story.

'It's not about it being a happy ending it's about the ending that makes sense and this ending didn't.' It didn't make sense to you then. Maybe you missed the clues, from the 'Little Prince' reference to Tofu's realization that he and Tarn couldn' co-exist. The ending was foreshadowed since the first episode. And yes, I agree that it was a tragic ending for Tofu, but, since when can't a series or a movie give their characters a tragic ending? How does that change or diminish the impact of its art? When you have 99% of BLs ending in a 'happily ever after' mode (even though a lot of the relationships are seriously damaged), I applaud the audacity of this show to adapt the book ipis litteris. To me, it makes it all even more daring and unique, and I don't find that the sadness in it diminished the quality in any way. If the show was able to provoke so much sadness (and so many tears) as it did to me, then it definitely means that the show was great, because evoking sadness is also one role of fiction.

RantJust because we disagree it doesn’t mean we don’t understand the series, or that we ignore anything from…
I find your post very contradictory. You say: "It also doesn’t mean that we judge characters only by cute moments. / We focus on story, character development, on what series tells us about the characters and situations." But then you proceed to disregard the brilliance of the show because you didn't like it that 1. they didn't change the ending of the book; 2. you didn't get the fairytale ending you wanted. This show gave more story and character development than any other BL ever released. Also, this show is groundbreaking in the issue of LGBT representation in primetime Thai television. But all you can focus on is the fluff that you didn't get. It's not about being smarter, it's about being less self-centered and understanding the whole context of the show rather than the childish 'I only wanna watch happy things to take my mind off my problems'. That's not the sole purpose of fiction. Works of fiction also exist to provoke thoughts, to raise awareness of social issues, to break new grounds. And that's what this particular show is about. They did that in a much more effective way than any other BL I have seen. It's much more than 'oh, let's just please BL fans and give them all the fluff they want'.

The actor that plays Tuaphee is gorgeous, and he does a pretty good job with the character. But that's pretty much the only positive thing I can say about the show, there's nothing really terrible about it but everything is a bit... uh, underwhelming?

Yeah, the show has been average at best so far but is anyone else obsessed with the opening song? It's actually great. I'm not a fan of k-pop but this song in particular is very catchy. Holland did an amazing job with it.

Put aside about the ending. Let's talk about your fav scene from the last episode of TMOTBFor me, my fav part…
That scene of Nut singing to Tofu broke me to pieces. I was crying, sobbing and weeping in a way I'd never experienced before in a work of fiction. I will never be able to hear that song again without tearing up.

I can't believe so many people didn't understand what they were watching. If you thought this was a light-hearted…
I get people's sadness, I really do. I myself cried and sobbed with the last episode of this show in a way I'd never cried before with any work of fiction. But I don't understand people rejecting or downplaying the quality of something just because they want to shield themselves away from sadness. Fiction is supposed to evoke all different kinds of emotions, good and bad ones, and this show was extremely competent in providing viewers with an array of different feelings, which to me is a testament of how brilliant everything was (script, direction, acting). And I couldn't agree more with your last paragraph, it's infuriating to see how nowadays our own stories are mostly targeted at an audience who isn't us, even though they have good intentions to support us, we should still be the protagonists of our own stories.

I understand we're all angry / sad / disappointed now with the last episode out and everybody is entitled to feel each type of way and to process it in their own time. But I hope that after some time to digest what happened we can all remember the experience that the show brought us as a whole, how each and every episode was unpredictable but still sensitive and beautiful. I hope the final sour taste in our mouth doesn't overshadow the many brilliant flavors that have preceeded it, because this show still is one of the best BL ever written. They delved into every storyline they created, and they did it all very effectively. They had the perfect mix of (well-done) romance, drama and thriller - I can't think of any other BL that pulled it all off that successfully. So I'll go back to my endless tears now but hoping that people will be reasonable enough to appreciate the masterpiece that is this show after they heal from their feelings now.

Do you recommend this one? I am curious about the acting and story development...
I've seen more than 100 BLs. This is probably the best one of them. You should definitely watch it, specially if you're LGBT (gay more specifically). It will resonate with you on many different levels.

Episode 3 was so sentimental. Brings back memories of partying every weekend and youth. 😃😩I am glad that…
Your Robron avatar. Cries in gay. Miss them

I could do with fewer people being into Dao. It's way too many: Kluen, Phoon, Maithee, now the girl. He's cute and all but c'mon. Apart from that, I'm enjoying the show more than I thought I would, but I agree that the story needs to move along next episode (I have a feeling it will, based on the trailer).

Don't forget physical abuse. Sib literally threw his kid to the ground and hit him to the point Nut feels that…
Absolutely. And you know what? Any other show would've made Nut a closet case with a late 'gay awakening', or given him a girlfriend or wife and have him cheat on her because that's the only kind of story they know how to write. But they still made him stand true to himself, in his own way. Although deeply scarred and despite all the odds, he is who he is, and that's such a powerful (and surprisingly rare) message to send to the audience.

The writing (and acting) this week was absolutely brilliant. Often times shows create tension but fail to resolve it, or sweep it under the rug, pretend it never existed. But not here. The sensitivity, care and poignancy that they delve into complex topics such as sexuality, emotional abuse and mental illness is commendable, especially in the way they are handling sexuality themes. While most BLs treat sexuality as an after thought of a fluffy (or 'hot') romance, here everyhting is laid out as clearly and meticulously as they can. It genuinely feels that the people behind the script actually care about the message of the words they're writing rather than just trying to appeal to an evergrowing, mass-consumption BL audience. I can't think of any Asian series that I've seen that actually used the word gay as much as this one, and it might not seem like a big deal on the face of it but most BL shows would find the most predictable and lazy routes to avoid delving into their characters' sexualities and how their experiences make or break their character and self-worth. This show is truly a gem.

But I hope you're right though. I'm so tired of the (ex) girlfriend trope.

I'm sorry but how do we know Gia isn't his gf? They never said she wasn't, did they? Have I missed something while I was watching it? LOL

I've only seen the first episode but damn Nut's acting as Nick is just cringeworthy. The script doesn't help either, even though it's something based on a true story the writing and dialogues are just dreadful . I heard people saying that the second episode is even worse. But Plustor and Earth are here, so at least they can try to save this mess.

That was a bit of a mess of a show, wasn't it? At first I liked Aiaoon and I hated Nawee. At the end I felt sorry and sympathetic for Nawee and I couldn't care less if Aiaoon dropped dead. But I don't think this was on purpose, because the writers intended to include a plot twist. I think it was a direct result of very bad, lazy and incoherent writing. They included ALL the cliches of the BL world in such a short series, it never would've worked. But hey at least Chap and Green are such eye candies.

All that you said is true. However, the fact that the BL industry is dominated by straight-identifying actors…
I agree with almost everything except for your last statement. I don't think the problem starts in the fandom. The fandom is a product of the business model they have created. If they had targeted LGBT audiences from the start, as they should have, since if these stories are ABOUT us they should also be FOR us, I'm sure things would be very different now, both in terms of the quality of the stories as well as the backstage stuff you mentioned.

Well, everything you just said now actually reinforces my original reply to you. I think you agree with me much more than you imagine. I thought you'd be a lot less conforming than that, since in the Cutie Pie thread you're always so vocal about things that are bullshit and that need to change or cease to exist (and may I say you are right in everything you say there). But when things are bullshit in fiction, they are bullshit in real life too, actually, in real life it's even worse because you don't have the excuse of it being just fantasy.
