I'm fan of Adams family, I like their black humour and being so different from usual. The Wednesday series has got really good dialogues, full of that inteligent sarcasm and wittiness. I just love FL, she is one of the kind, critical, brave and brutally direct. The vibe of series is not too dark, I can still take it, but not too much at once, so I watch "slowly"... Currently I'm on ep 6, hope the ending won't be abrupt as there are only 8 eps in total, and many answers are not yet there... If you liked Adams family movies, you will love this one, too.

I will probably give it a try when I feel like diving into darker side of life again, LOL... At the moment I'm watching Wednesday, an investigative-horrror series, quite good, but, yee, I have to take breaks in between to ease down... I hope the last episode of Under the Queen's Umbrella will give everybody a satisfying ending.....

All positive comments and high rating of this drama make me wanna watch it, but plot seems full of cheming and conspiracy, which I really don't like to watch because it makes me nervous bad people doing their bad things...... In my country "life sawing straw" is a legit phrase. We actually have a bunch of straw related comparisons - I think is based on fact that straw floats on the water and it seems like it can save you, when you are drawning - but it's actually to weak to hold you... so, here we go : grabbing for every straw one sees, catching for the last straw, hoping to be saved by straw etc... We also say for pompous people to "have straw in their head" which reffers to it's hollow structure... also, when someone overrates own inteligence and spouts nonsense, you can say: be careful that straw in your head doesn't catch fire... then we also say one is "a straw doll" which is synonym for people who have no backbone .... " straw widow" (or widower) is a person who's spouse didn't die, but is never home due to work or something else... In the past straw was very much used and apreciated building material and, obviously, in our language we make a good use of it, too, LOL... ....

I think the trope of annoying and over persistent rival in love - is way too often in Cdramas. Be it a male or female, all of them - even after clear rejection - tend to behave like: because I love you, I'm entitled to your love, you can be only mine, I don't care, if you love me or not, but, because I love you, I have the right to destroy your real love, your life, and harass you untill you give in... or not, which you will regret... Toxic, really, And too often promoted as acceptrable way of behaviour, which gives bad message to people out there: it's normal if you don't accept rejection, just persist on, no matter what or who you destroy in process... sigh...
I like your article, watched most of dramas in first 18, some I loved, some I dropped... but none of them is my TOT (top of the top) drama. I'ts actually hard to choose one. What is the criteria for it? At first I even didin't know that by myself... I did some contemplation on this topic, asking myself: how to define my fav drama of them all...? First - I should remember the title clearly... As non-asian watcher, I don't even understand original titles, but English ones are often similar, bit ridiculous or meaningles... So, if I remeber it... + point... Second - after I remembered the title - did I rewatch the drama? Did I want to go back there and relive it? Feel again what I felt before or even more? Can I find new aspects by rewatching, can it speak to me over and over, repeatedly? After considering this second criteria I realised that there are really very few dramas that rise in my memory... And the winner is... - not king - but My rommate is a Gomilho... This is first drama ever I had an urge to rewatch it immediatelly after I finished it... never happened before and never after... to have a withdrawal crisis after drama... rewatching it for the third time currently... Wouldn't know why exactly, but everything is there, what I need, just like a true love... hooked...

International fans of Asian dramas may be somehow in disatvantage with older Cdramas as before 2018 year many, many dramas have no subtitles. And often, if they do have them, they are almost invisible, small or inaccurate. I can drop a drama or even don't start it if subs are unreadable or machine translated. Don't know who voted, but this may be one of reasons why older dramas fell out...
1) It will get a darker - since there's 40 episodes they will up the drama and since both leads are so damn likeable…

It's mostly his own fault that she treats him this way. Firstly, he hurt her pride by flirting with another woman, even comparing them, secondly, he treats her like weak, helpless dummy while he must know, she isn't like that. Simply put, he doesn't respect her and doesn't care to know her better, just implements automatical men- woman standards while she is way out of that box... and she doesn't really know how to behave like a woman, thou she is kindhearted... They are just not too well matched... she should marry one sturdy solder, they would probably get along much better...
