She felt guilty about betraying everyone for the sake of the paper, and all her life she's been trapped by her…
By the way, do you remember if they ever explained what crimes her parents committed that resulted in her lowered status? Does she need her own revenge arc, or were they actually guilty?
She felt guilty about betraying everyone for the sake of the paper, and all her life she's been trapped by her obsession with getting rid of her status, so she burned the paper to be free. Not that that makes any sense, because if she used the paper and became a citizen, she would be free of her psychological prison AND her lowly status.
Ep 10: who do you guys think burned the raw silk during the journey?
Qi acted like he expected them stay at the relay station, so most likely he sent his men to burn the silk. I'm sure our ML has anticipated this though. At around 13:40 (episode 10), Mr. Kang said, "You hold the fishing rod, yet worry about the safety of the bait." And at 40:08 (episode 9), the ML said, "Mr. Mo, whether the raw silk can be delivered to Nandu is not up to me, the Su family, or Qi Tianfeng. It's all up to you, Mr. Mo." That implies that the convoy is just bait, and the real silk will be taken into the city by Mo's men.
Today’s episodes look very hairy. Think our ML needs more contingency plans.
Nah, I think everything is going according to his plans. Mr. Kang said, "You hold the fishing rod, yet worry about the safety of the bait." That tells us all we need to know.
Regardless of whether it is a new wuxia type of story or not. Having a weak ML in an action-packed drama is just…
Nirvana in Fire has a decent amount of action and is considered by many to be the best C-drama of all time, yet the ML there is very physically weak.
At least the ML in this drama isn't sickly. As he says in the prelude before episode 1: "Humans don't have the claws and teeth of tigers or wolves, nor the strength of lions or elephants, yet can capture wolves, subdue tigers, tame lions, and hunt elephants. How? Only through wisdom."
I'll completely ignore the comments saying the FL isn't beautiful enough and yada yada. She's beautiful and charming…
Both the ML and FL have similar backgrounds (their families were destroyed and they are the only survivors) and they are both after revenge. This is established pretty much right at the beginning so it's not really a spoiler.
Unpopular view: I'm distracted by FL's face, I can't enjoy her acting because I keep thinking whether she has…
She's definitely had something done to her lips. It's very obvious in certain scenes, not so much in others, depending on the lighting and angle. She's aged quite a bit since Princess Weiyoung, but her eyes are still really cute.
How is the fight scene and how strong is the protagonist in martial art?
The fight scenes are pretty good, similar to season 1. The choreography is a bit different compared to typical wuxia dramas. The male protagonist (younger brother) is very strong to begin with, and gets even stronger by the end. His older brother is a general, and his sister-in-law is also a top martial artist. His love interest is a doctor, and even though near the beginning it's implied that she has some martial arts skills (she helps him escape from bad guys by throwing needles), unfortunately we never see her fight throughout the rest of the drama.
Does Tong Li Ya's character has love line in this one???? If Yes who is her partner / ML??????- thanksss
Her husband is the older of the two brothers, played by Huang Xiao Ming. However, even though both brothers and their love interests are main leads, the younger brother is the main protagonist.
There is some bromance, but not as much as season 1. There is more romance though.
The main romance is between Xiao Ping Jing (younger brother) and Lin Xi (cold doctor). It's subtle though. Xiao Pingzhang (older brother) and Meng Qian Xue (martial artist) have been married for years but they are a cute couple. There's a little bit of romance between Xiao Yuan Qi and Xun An Ru, but obviously that doesn't end well because he's the villain.
Is the novel loosely inspired by Hua Mulan? I think because FL have same name "Hua" . Her characteristic as tough…
She's a strong martial artist but she never fought on the battlefield, at least according to He Yuanting (back when he tried to fool/seduce her into getting kidnapped).
She was really good in Miss Gu. During the drama proper, she was the perfect angel, so cute and sweet that she melts your heart, but during the therapy sessions, she was so creepy. A+ acting.
Most of the characters are complex, three-dimensional, and well-written, except for the bad guy. He's just pure evil, a comic book villain with no redeeming qualities, no sympathetic back story, no complicated motivations, and no internal conflict.
How is the Song of Glory a spinoff of Princess Weiyoung?
They're not directly related, but same era (Northern and Southern Dynasties) and either the writer or production team is the same, I can't remember which. Princess Weiyoung takes place in the northern dynasty (Wei), while Song of Glory takes place in the southern dynasty (Song). The place where Shen Lige's parents met is also called Weiyoung Lake, presumably named after Princess Weiyoung.
