Oh, I just realized that the Sunny Wang's Chinese name is also Yang Ming. I guess it was very intentional, and they only considered actors with that name!

This is an alright drama. It's lighthearted entertainment, nothing serious. Some parts are very cute and funny, others are more boring. The body switching actually serves a purpose, which can't always be said of other dramas with the same trope. Though my brain keeps forgetting that the guy is actually the girl and vice versa.

Also, the whole romantically staring into each other's eyes thing... that doesn't work here because they're literally staring at their own face! lol

Isn't the illusions power from her master's ring? She never absorbed her master's power. As for the puppetry, I'm assuming she used it to train a new martial arts skill that she can use permanently.

Beyond just mentioning it, the closest thing to something like that actually happening is every time FL absorbs and uses someone's power, she's supposed to suffer some backlash. But she doesn't realize it because in order to save her when she was dying, ML did some kind of spell where any damage that she takes gets transferred to him.

Yes and no. The Department of Fate is responsible for setting up marriages between people, mostly based on suitability and family background. The Moon Immortal hates that part, and only works on the small percentage of marriages that are based on love. But as far as I can tell, the red strings and the emotion butterflies are outside the control of the Fate Dept.

Yes, the powers are temporary. They (including herself) didn't know she had this ability until later on when she accidentally absorbs the power of one of the bad guys (the leader of Shenji Sect) during a fight.

This drama is basically the Chinese version of X-Men, where there are normal people and people with powers. In order to control the "mutants," the government recruits them to work for the Department of Fate/Marriage and puts limits on their powers. Some "mutants" join the Shenji Sect, which is the enemy of the Fate Department. And there are others (e.g. Ning Lan) who try to fly under the radar and not be recruited by either side.

Moon Immortal's power is illusion (he can make people see what he wants them to see). He used to be part of Shenji Sect but betrayed them and joined the government side. It's not clear what exactly happened because he volunteered to have his memories taken away.

FL is basically Rogue; her power is absorbing other people's powers.

She has a heart disease where some of her meridians are blocked, and it would act up if she has romantic feelings, yet somehow it doesn't interfere with her ability to do martial arts. But it's fantasy so I guess we'll have to roll with it.

There's been a trend over the past couple years to make super short dramas with lesser known actors as leads. At first they were around 10-15 minutes per episode, but they've been getting shorter and shorter. Now they have dramas that fit on TikTok lol

It's sad how little talent has to do with determining the success of an actress. PXR is one of the luckier ones in this regard as she has been relatively successful. Some of the most beautiful and talented actresses I've ever seen, like Sun Xue Ning, Zhang Wei Na, and Deng Sha, never got the opportunities they deserved during their prime. Everyone instantly recognizes their faces because they've been side characters in so many dramas, and yet almost nobody knows their names. Meanwhile, "idols" with resources like Sun Yi and Yang Chao Yue keep getting leads roles despite having no acting skills (I'm a bit hesitant to put Ju Jing Yi in this category because her acting, though not great, is at least acceptable).

Well she thinks he's a lunatic, and you can't blame her. And then she was frustrated at being forcibly tied to him. But I never got the impression that she hated him.

She didn't. She's the Sunny Fox, a vigilante who takes revenge for people who pray to her statue. A lot of people complained to her about ML because they're all afraid of him. She was just doing her "job;" it's nothing personal.
