"CTTO" triggers me though. I kept seeing so much of it on this page, imho it's ugly and not uplifting, ("cee, tee, tea, oh" also sounds like a rip-off of C3PO but that's just me, LOL!).

Had to look up what CTTO means. Full disclosure: I have no use for social media so I am seeing the acronym here for the first time, and there's just so much of it here. Ugh.

CTTO is a tactic made by posters to "borrow" others' work without proper citation and accountability. To me, this comments section looks like a badly written page full of plagiarism. If you are Cesanme posting your work here, disguised as another person, why not just come out then? If you are a fanboy/fangirl/fanthey of Cesanme, you can do better because continuously posting CTTO is not a good look. Despite others telling you to cease and desist, you double down, without any good reason (that is ORIGINAL or witty). I can ignore it without blocking you tho because I have no skin in this game. I really just wanted to see if WoH is worth picking up again. Then I go to the actor's page and see this. Oh. My. Days.

One other reason why I like XZ. :)

I love to eat. I also know that cooking is a basic survival skill, so I try my best to do it well (gotta feed the horde, yeah?).

The few cooking video clips I've seen of XZ in the kitchen is such a delight to watch. I'd love to see him appear in a variety show like what I am watching (in Korea the show is called "Convenience Store Restaurant"), where he would go about researching for a dish (most of them are truly inspired dishes), and he would compete with other celebrities as to who would make the best meal to sell at a convenience store. Ah but I know how busy he is with his various work commitments. I am free to IMAGINE it tho, lol.

So in my head I am already conjuring the many special XZ spicy dishes he'd make that would sell very fast. However this would directly compete vs his endorsement for KXZ so, maybe not??? LOL.

Anyway, begging is not helpful for me personally. I'd rather be inspired by what little of XZ that I see and get the most positive thoughts/feelings out of it. That's doing him justice, too, I think he'd want all his fans to be happy no? :)

Hi, JaneC, I totally get what you mean. I am on the oldish side of the spectrum here, LOL. The first boyband that I seriously got into was in the 80s, I was in elementary school. I saved up months so I could buy their album (vinyl). I bought all their records in various medium (cassette tape, vinyl, CD) from the 80s up to the last one released in 2017 (imagine that, been waiting for 5 years now, sigh!). I watched their concert 2x, one at my home city and then I was fortunate to see their concert abroad whilst I was attending a business conf.

One of the members also got a DJ stint at a club in my city and I was again, fortunate to have met him and gave him a high five. LOL. That was so cool. I can imagine giving XZ a high five too. But meeting my "idols" is not really a priority for me, I guess whatever happens happens, no? Just a lucky night, I guess.

Fast forward to 2020 my all time fave band finally got good recognition as inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. In school they were not as popular as the bands my peers liked. Sometimes I was mocked because the boys "look so gay" lol. Did I care? Nah. I still don't.

TLDR: I have admired celebs for a long time, and with the fandom I have cultivated my own ways of letting them hype me up or brighten my day. With XZ I can see him going a long way too. Just like Mads Mikkelsen who started out late in the biz, he's done all sorts of roles (mostly villains in Hollywood but I know better since I watched his European indie film catalogue, really good stuff, that's why he's judging at Cannes) but hey, look at him now. 56yo and still a bamf lol. I imagine he will be a bad ass for many years to come.

I have the same gut feeling for our boy XZ. I know he'll go a long long way. He's so talented, he works super hard, and with a bit more luck on his side, he'll be an even better actor. I know it. :)

I love theatre and musicals. I have watched a play called Angels in America which is almost 8 hours long, too, so I would have been really thrilled to see him in ADLAD.

It is rare for me to follow very popular people because my taste is "quirky" to put it mildly LOL. But yes, yes, bring it on!

Oh, I see now, thanks for sharing this. :) I have also watched some episodes of WOH but I could not commit myself to watching it in full. Had to put it on hold and I have yet to get back to it.

But just for context there are a few actors I follow, and by "follow" I mean, hunt down their work and binge-watch, read articles written about them, watch their interviews or vlogs (if any). In recent memory that would be a Danish actor (Mads MIkkelsen who I first saw on a Spanish pelicula), and further back, Takeshi Kaneshiro from the Wong Kar Wai films he did--been waiting to his his new work, but it's a long time coming. Patience is a a virtue. I also follow the career of musicians and if they have no new albums, still cool.

I grew up during the time when we had little to no access to the bands/actors that we admire. Ergo, I'm used to not seeing so much of them. So right now when I see how ubiquitous (the younger celebs at least) they are on social media, I WORRY FOR THEM lol. Privacy is important.

Those difficulties in 2020 (better known as 3 numbers) is anathema to XFX, so I'm not even going there anymore... That XZ did more than survive it, he is thriving right now is a testament to his resilience and good character. Another thing I truly admire him for. Like, wow, inspiring. :) I have my own difficulties in life, I fight my own battles on the daily (Zhan!) but I am always seeking to do better and be better, I know I am a work in progress and have much to improve in my life. XZ always posts stuff about that, they're good reminders and very humbling.

Ah high-five to you, my fellow busy at work XZ fan. :)

I don't want to skip parts of ToOL and want to give it a proper watch so I choose to just wait, won't be long until I get paid leave anyway, so I can still delay my gratification a bit. Ha ha.

BTW I read a fan post somewhere about a collage of XZ photos either holding or reading a book. So... Based on the book covers that XZ is holding, these fans speculated and came up with a XZ BOOKS TO READ LIST. That's where I found out that XZ and I both love to read (yayyyy!!!!) and have read a lot of books from said list except the Chinese authors--I know I need more diversity in my reading list so this inspired me, too. I am hunting these books down because XZ is reading them, lol.

Ahhh I am thrilled that XZ is BOTH beauty and brains. Loads of talent as well. He makes me smile a lot and brightens my day. I do not know any other person in real life who likes him (cdrama is not popular here) but my friends all know that I am THE XZ fan lol.

I still do not go to clubs despite restrictions being lifted where I am at because I choose to be more careful and safe. But I did transform my bedroom into something livelier: I have a disco ball, multicolored lights that go in sync with music that I play. I can party over here 24/7 if I want to ha ha. Try and stop me.

Hi Melancholia, just want you to know that I feel you and understand what you are saying. Here's how I came into admiring the actor, XZ.

I was an early watcher of TU when it aired in 2019 -- back then I was doing research on China (history, culture, dynasties, etc.) for work, also I was learning Mandarin, so the Untamed came up in my YT recommend, as I am guessing that the algorithm made the connection lol.

It's the first costume drama I have watched since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in cinema (loooong time ago, as you can tell). I did not immediately get it, was too confusing... so I found the novel and read the translation. I kept my own notes to understand who's who, and from what clan/sect, then REWATCHED TU at the same time, watching the donghua. I was drawn to the character of WWX for his dogged and unwavering quest for justice. I relate with that in my own personal experience. It was then easy for me to imagine the plot unraveling as I read the novel because I had already seen a few episodes of the drama.

Anyway, since the UT aand WWX's great acting chops, I became interested in the actor too, apart from the main character. I looked up XZ's other videos from X-Fire. I watched the cheesy earlier dramas, too (skipped a lot of parts tho), and of course, DC, and parts of the Wolf (I can't find a decent link now to watch the rest of it), Jade Dynasty, Our Song, etc. Then I watched the vlogs, etc., etc.... I went down the rabbit hole, for sure.

Special mention: I did love the vlogs that came out when he was doing push-ups. That challenged me on a personal level. One of my personal goals is to be more fit and level up my athleticism, as I exercise daily and even run at races but I know too that my arms are very weak. LOL. Thanks to XZ in that vlog, I can now do double my usual push-ups in one go. My goal is to match XZ's number, muahahaha, (WISH!!!!) and I shall do that one of these days, just you wait. :P

TLDR, I let XZ inspire me. The rest, I do myself. I owe myself happy days and nights, my naggy boss can shove it up their (bleep).... now if XZ were my boss, I'd be the happiest, most compliant worker ever, lol.

Not verbatim but I distinctly remember a post made by XZ about the masses and their habits in following celebrities, viz. , that we ought to concentrate on our OWN lives: studies, work, familial relationships, hobbies etc. and that we "chase stars rationally" (is that the right translation, I wonder).

I remember to check XZ's pages in MDL because seeing comments made by fellow XZ followers energize me. This despite the fact that I have very little leisure time (I still have not completed watching ToOl, sad!) since work is often crazy, and my boss is often (like, right now, even as we speak) giving me a literal headache LOL LOL. I look up XZ vids, stream his tunes, keep him in the bg as I finish my chores, etc. That's enough for me. But that's me. Some fans always want more, and that's okay too. We can always rewatch his catalogue, ha ha.

Sending well wishes and good vibes to all fellow XZ followers. If or when he next makes an appearance we shall rejoice. Meanwhile, a little more patience, perhaps? We keep calm and carry on!
